I went with my younger sister to see this movie after she wouldn't stop talking about the lemmings she saw in an ad for the film. While, like any other children's movie, it wasn't aimed at my demographic, I still found the dialogue entertaining and more importantly the themes powerful. This movie takes on climate change and aims the issue at an audience that will shape our future on Earth, so its a favorite in my book! Plus, it has a pretty solid cast, Gabriel Iglesias was great as Stan and as always Ken Joeng's hilarious voice made his character Mr. Greene one that stood out. When this finally comes out of DVD I'll be sure to get a copy for my sister, and honestly will probably sit in for a screening or two!

This is quite possibly the worst film I have ever had the displeasure of seeing, I don't know what made me want to see this, but everyone was saying how terrible it was so I had to see what the fuss was about. And I should have just stayed at home, this wasn't even remotely fun, or funny. The character are awful with no interest or morals. The animation is atrocious, and looks like a five year old did it, I actually a five year old could do better. I mean, my gosh talk about getting all the joy sucked out of me in the very instant the movie comes on. I'm serious avoid this at all costs, unless you want to see what the fuss is about, then go ahead, but I will warn you, this is a 20 dollar bill you will never get back. After this I will say I'm glad I own How to Train Your Dragon, because after watching this piece of horse manure I needed to get my faith back into animation. I needed something to get my mind off this terrible excuse of a movie. Lets hope this is the last time we get an animated film this bad well at least in a long time. And the last thing, should kids see this? No. Not that its bad with inappropriate innuendos or jokes, its just kids will get bored with this. The kids in my theater were running up and down the aisle and a family sitting next to me left the theater. So if the film's target audience is in disarray, then imagine how you will feel, and how I felt watching this awful, disgusting, mess of a film. Oh, and those rodent characters that try to be the minions, I have one thing to say. &$^# you!!!! Now to grade. Animation: D- Characters: F Story: D+ Music: C Voice Acting: D Overall: D-

Norm Of The North tells the story of a courageous bear called Norm. Norm has the power to communicate with people. When his home is threatened to be removed by wicked man Greene,he travels to the remote jungle in order to convince people to save his home.
Norm Of The North is totally funny with a great adventure as well as an interesting plot.
The characters in this movie are appealing and the jokes are so hilarious not only for kids but also for adults too.
The moral and theme of Norm Of The North is that every animal and living creature must preserve his environment nature and should not let exploiters deprive the rights of animals.
For all of the above reasons,Norm Of The North Deserves An Oscar For Best Animated Movie.

As a parent of two girls, after watching this... thing... yesterday I am surprised what raving reviews people gave this one on IMDb. I am suspecting those are just shills without substance or proof.
The whole movie looks like it came out 15 years too late. Even 20-year old Toy Story visually looks much better overall than this poor thing! And I am not even talking about the story and script!
Yes, kids might be silenced by the cute bear and other animals, but come on! Do we want to feed them this trash, when there are actually good animated movies out there? You are better off taking them to a Barbie movie or Minions, Good Dinosaur, Hotel Transylvania 2 or Home, than to support this one.
Animation: boring and outdated. Dialog: atrocious. Script: atrocious. Jokes: self-serving and forgettable, I did not laugh once. Story: simple and boring.
Someone even tried to imitate Chester V from "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2" with how Mr. Greene moved. He did not succeed.
Bottom line - I am offended by watching "Norm of the North" and regret I took my kids there. They are too young to realize all of this, but I will make more research next time. Unfortunately this cinema visit was on a whim, so could not check it out more.
Stay away!

In this abnormally ambitious first feature film from Splash Entertainment, Norm of the North is about Norm (Rob Schneider), a Polar Bear who is able to communicate with humans. When his home, the Arctic is threatened by the evil developer Mr. Greene (Ken Jeong), he must journey to the concrete jungle and convince people to save his home.
This feature film offers laughs and appealing characters for young audiences and I think it also represents something bigger that older audiences will also enjoy. Splash Entertainment is an independent animation studio that has been given the chance, by its association with Lionsgate, to create a film for the big screen. That's not an easy task especially with so much competition from other animation companies. Is it revolutionary? No, but it's a nice start for Splash Entertainment's movie making journey.
The film's delightful animation is colorful and fluent. I love how the characters move and dance. I particularly enjoyed watching Mr. Greene's rubber legs. Much like his personality, his movements are snake like - always slithering from place to place. He is my favorite character because he's so over the top. It also helps that he is voiced by the hilarious comedian Ken Jeong. Speaking of which, all the voice actors in this film portray their characters very well. I'm not particularly a Rob Schneider fan but, in this film he makes Norm a lovable and plush Polar Bear.
For me, the humor is hit and miss. But, I'm not really the audience for this film. A lot of the comedy is geared for younger kids and there is a lot of potty humor. Although there are some jokes for parents and older kids to chuckle at, it is best suited for the younger set. While the slapstick is fast paced, I have a problem with how the characters come in contact. What makes slapstick funny is cause and effect. Tom and Jerry are a perfect example. When Tom runs smack into a pole his whole body makes solid contact causing him pain. In this the film, the characters seem to be made of rubber. When they come in contact with each other it's like silly putty being squished together. Now it does kind of work with Norm's furry sidekicks, the Lemmings, because their running joke is that they feel no pain. However, it does not work when the other characters react like rubber. With that said, while watching the film the kids in the theater went nuts and loved every moment of it. Just goes to show you that humor is diverse.
My favorite scene is the opening of the film when Norm tries to hunt. Not only does it reveal the status quo of the main character, it also provides a lovely introduction to the comedy that will follow. The Arctic landscape adds to the visual ambiance of the animation.
The moral of this film is "nature belongs to the animals." Mr. Greene plans to build condominiums in the Arctic and that's why Norm goes to New York and tries to convince them not to do that. I was glad to see this environmental message presented to young children.
I give this film 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to 3 through 12- year-olds. This film proves that just because you're not a big Polar Bear does not mean you can't make a big splash. I can't wait to see more from Splash Entertainment. This film is in theaters January 15 so mark your calendars now. Reviewed by Keefer B., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic. This film is a wonderful foray in trying to be relevant by having polar bears twerk. If you love animated polar bears twerking, all two of you, then you might enjoy this film. Congrats!
If you do NOT like animated polar bears twerking... Well, no, you won't like this. And I do not.
Seriously, this movie is just depressing. It had potential. Notice the had, because they instead opted for whatever this garbage with polar bear twerking sprinkles is. Seriously, I can't get enough of that one; polar bear twerking. It's just... Why? Why would you do that? You write a movie with a polar bear living in human civilization and the first thing that comes to your mind is "let's have the polar bear twerk". That's the stuff I'd expect from a crumby, shallow parody off YouTube by like Smosh. But nope. It's a thing. And it happens.
But really now, this movie is another example of why you don't pander and try to remain hip and relevant. I can assure you this movie's main draw, the polar bear twerking, will become an artifact of a dead way of humanity once a decade passes and twerking is basically internet's disco.
