This must be one of the best Horror-movies i seen (makes you wonder why some people like to work in a morg). The acting is real good, expecially Kim Bodnia who plays Martins good (but a little bit crazy) freind. I must admit that i was really scared the first time i saw this movie. The scene with the missing body and the bloody foothprints was nearly to much (I just wanted to quit the movie and go to bed). I have not seen the Hollywood-version of this film, the Nightwatch but i dont think it´s nearly as good as the original. Just the fact that the people speaks danish in stead of english makes it (I dont know why) just brilliant. This is a masterpiece from the director Ole Bornedal. Must be seen bye any horror-fan. 8 out of 10.

One of the best thrillers i've ever seen, beautifully played by the characters, an extreme tense in some of the parts. This version is better then the remake that had come out in 1998 starring Nick Nolte, however he played a great role in this version. I recommend this movie to all thriller-fans to see it, maybe not easy to get in your local video-store but look for it, it's more then worth it !!

What I really like is that "Nightwatch" is not an American film. I didn't see the US-Remake but I don't think it can be better cause the Danish Original is really great! I especially like Rikke Louise Andersson's role as Joyce when Martin is sitting with his friend in the café and Jens is giving the whole money to her just for a smile and she is trying to but it's so difficult for her. I felt really sorry for her. An excellent Danish movie!!!

This is a bloodthirsty, but excellent, absorbing thriller, well acted by all concerned. Its strongest point is, I think, the characterisation. The "goodies" are likeable, but flawed; the villain is sick rather than evil, and I really felt for and with the victims. The climax of the film is truly thrilling, but its impact is weakened by a rather pat final scene. Recommended, but not for the squeamish!

A student get a night job to prove his girlfriend that he doesn't have to barrow money from his parents to make it on his own. So he decide to study at day and work and night. He get a night job at a morgue. All he have to do is sit by the phone and check the dead bodies once every night. No big deal. But strange things start to happen. One night one of the bodies is suddenly missing. He discovers the dead body somewhere else in the morgue and call the doctor that works there to show him that the dead body has been moved. The doctor calls the police before he shows up himself, but when the student is about to show them where he found the dead body, it's not there. The body has been moved back to place in the meantime and the doctor and the police does not believe the student.
This is one of the best scary movies I have seen in a long time. It's impressive, atmosphere is brilliant and it will keep you at the edge o your seat the whole time. You'll get scared. Trust me.

I first saw Nattevagten in 1994 when it came in theaters. After i saw it, I was very pleased to choose this one, instead one of the Hollywood movies, since it was so enjoyable to watch.
What can i say....A great script with some minor flaws, very good acting from all of the cast, superb camera movement making this movie sometimes shocking. And an intelligent story, but that's reasonable, since it came from Europe.
In 2003 I watched it again for the all times sake. It was still good, but sadly, this is one of the movies made for one-time watching... especially in a dark room.

Nattevagten (The Nightwatch) from 1994 is an outstanding movie compared to Danish standard in the beginning of the 90s. This movie was the first of many Danish movies of a very high quality.
The story about the young man who gets involved in a case about a serial killer is not a unique story, but the way this one is set up and the way the characters are portrayed make this movie fantastic. It's a thriller of dimensions - and guessing the murderer isn't as easy as you might think...
Take a look at this movie if you like European ones - it's definitely worth to see how the Danish director has succeeded in creating a great thriller which has even made the American film makers interested in an American version (The Nightwatch, 1998). Check it out and you'll agree with me!
