*spoilers alert* The.... main attraction in this movie was watching the world-class actors like Zellweger struggle to give some decent flow and put color into the life-less and horrific directing by this guy. He's done 8 movies total, nothing big like this film. The ending feels like.... it's fast-forwarded, frankly. I was reeeeally looking forward to seeing how Zellwegger would adapt to MN after moving from Miami, how her love with the guy would work out, who will move and where. Many, many questions left unanswered. And... the lack of camera movement is annoying! WHo makes a silly movie like this and leaves a camera still for 20, 30 sec at a time? Someone needs to give this director Movies Making 101.

This movie was quite interesting in its premise, or more so it's casting and side characters. Likable Minnesotans, whose job security is in peril ? Not what you would expect from a romantic comedy at first ! The rest of the film does end-up following the stereotypical tropes of its genre, but not without a few chuckles here in there...

This is a light romantic comedy with a deeper meaning. There's a certain amount of predictability and corn, but Renee Zellweger, always a pleasure, more than makes up for that. The theme of the movie is a huge impersonal corporation about to downsize a Middle West factory. The movie brings out many of the conflicting moral values that are at the center of American politics today. Even more interesting, the movie has something to say about what we're going through--something valuable. I enjoyed the movie and recommend it highly. It's light fare with thought-provoking ideas.

In my opinion the writing is not good. Need some creativity. From my perspective, mostly cliche's.

This movie covers pretty much ALL the romcom tropes and cliches, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I love a romcom, and even if I can see the entirety of the plot from a mile off it doesn't put me off watching. Its a pretty straightforward story of woman from big city being sent out of her comfort zone to a small town in the middle of nowhere, where the faces a lot of opposition and challenges along the way, but learns that the locals she is now amongst are charming, hardworking and not the hicks she thinks they are early on. Renee Zellweger puts on another great performance as businesswoman out of her comfort zone, and Harry Connick Jr. Plays the love interest pretty charmingly. You aren't going to be challenged by this movie at all, but you might well be charmed by its good humour and sweet story.

I'm sorry but I could not get into this movie. To me this didn't come across as a cute rom com tadpole out of water. I thought the residents were pretty nasty towards Lucy. If people were this rude to me I would never go out of my to adapt to my new work environment and play nice. Or get with a man that allows the locals, to treat me that way. On top of that this ''man'' downs women who are comfortable with their sexuality. Lucy is constantly made out to be a villain, when she's being ganged up on, until she surrenders, and does everything their way. When the locals were at risk of losing their ''lively hood'', I did not feel sorry for them.
