What more to tell about this man. Running out of superlatives to describe what he is upto in NNM. Just makes us go awww while he switched between James & Sundaram Watch out for that bit where he behaves as Sundaram to Jame's relatives. Out of the world🙏 #NanpakalNerathuMayakkam #NanpakalNerathuMayakkam What happens when James dozes off & wakes up as Sundaram & travels through his life for a day before he goes back to the world of James. Something only Lijo can pull off & boy hasn't he done just that. Nothing complex this time. Absolute mastery by LJP🙏 Mammootty , LEGENDARY ACTING 🔥⭐⭐⭐ State Awards - It's not even a question or a discussion National Awards - Only looking forward to that.

Mostly positive reviews would be pumped in from many corners, i will concentrate more on the negatives. This is a simple and small story subject pushed and pulled along to make up the time. Showing repeated scenes back to back not upto the mark. First close scene of showing faces of Tamil people at some portions seemed like degrading them as laughter can be heard from multiple spots inside theatre. Several scenes were out of sync like Thirukkural, toilet comedy, bun & chaaya, TV lady and also Mammoottys one shot lengthy dialogue gone out of sync after half portion. Mammoottys driving going left right left. TV background audio was good but excessive use of that in loud volume felt irritated. Overall, message of loving everything and everyone in life was good. Acting of Mammootty, Ashokan, Rajesh Sharma and Ramya Pandian was good. LJP is a brilliant and talented director. Excessive pumping of positive reviews is what i don't like. I've watched his City of God, Eemao, Amen, Angamaly Diaries, Jallikatt in theatres.

This was a laboured watch and deserved a quick walk out in the first few minutes. The first hour or so reminded me of those art movies which specialized in close up shots, irrelevant scenes , screenplay. Bus journey ,TV drama that was played out, granny laughing out was just pathetic. Just wondering 'Who will bell the cat ' with the kind of movies that are being churned out by the ace director? His movies are increasingly difficult to watch nowadays. May be for an art lover or a film maker ,this may offer the technicalities. For the common man who wants to watch a decent movie, this is poor to say the least. After the movie and reading the reviews, wonder , have i watched the same movie as the reviewer. Just replace the ace director with someone else name and legendry actor with any other names, this subject and way its picturized would have been trashed. No words. Disappointing !!

Nothing new. Copied some foreign movie formula and conceptualized on Indian background. Movie looks like a drama frames combined together. Undue hype is given to the movie by press and social media. Long awaited combo LJP and Mamooty was definitely worth the wait. The unexpected twist not only confused the character in the story but also the viewers. Totally different style of making followed by LJP adds on to uniquifing the film. The story blended in well the cultural values of societies which made me like the film more. Even though every character had got a defined role, the character done by Mamooty excels in all the aspects of protrayal. Short and well written script along with nicely blended in music and sound design. As in all LJP's movies certain questions are unanswered and completely left to the viewers for further interpretation.

A well written script combined with LJP effect supported by brilliant realistic performances of all the actors plus the cinematography which made every frame like a painting and an outstanding performance by Mammootty will take you on a ride of unique experience. The movie has been made in a minimalistic style like a Robert Bresson film, so don't expect any thrills or fights World class movie making from the team Hope the movie gets what it deserves in the years to come in. And last but not the least the movie has paid a homage to lot of tamil films and songs in a very interesting way through the soundscape of the film which made it very realistic. Way to go Malayalam Cinema. ✨ 💚

An interesting plotline, but was made ridiculously slow to a point where it abosultely pissed me off and I was fuming in anger that they could waste my time like this showing long scenes, extremeley slow and not adding any value to the movie. This was not just my opinion, all of my family members who watched the movie separately felt the same and who were not influenced by each other's reviews. At first I thought its good that they have made a movie only for 1 hr 40 mins, probably made it short and crisp instead of dragging a story for 3 hours long. But turns out, the story is only worth 30 mins of your time, which was dragged to 1h 40m with a dragging screenplay. Even if you survived till the end of the movie, it does give a proper ending or explanation, I totally felt foolish having wasted my time and bearing through this extemely slow paced movie. I appreciate good movies, slow movies, art movies, etc. But the slow scenes should add some meaning to the movie. This movie did not do that for me. I do not recommend this movie at all, it does not deserve any views for the way it has been made.

LJP continues to create magic on the screen, this time with none other than Mammootty in the lead. Theni Eswar's static frames lend a painting-like appeal to the worlds of James and Sundaram. Retro Tamil music and film dialogues add to the quirky soundscape. S Hareesh comes up with a script that potentially extracts a classic acting showcase from Mammootty, who's simply reinventing himself with each film. The writing deliberately leaves some loose ends and goes for a rather ambiguous finale, but it's also one that makes you want to rewatch the film asap to pick up some subtler, finer details. The interpretations are multiple, and Lijo leaves it to the viewers to decipher the realities for James and Sundaram. At a fundamental level, NNM can be perceived as a tragicomedy with shades of magical realism. On one hand, it's humourous for us (as audiences) to see James (who's a spoilsport with a dislike for Tamilian culture) suddenly ignoring everyone around him and starting to act like a local in a random Tamil Nadu village, with his family running around in circles trying to make sense. On the other, the more we understand the plight of Sundaram's family and the situation surrounding his disappearance, it's hard not to feel sorry for the folks who care for him. This duality keeps the 1h 48m film engaging throughout. And finally, if a classy effort like NNM is what the LJP-Mammootty combo gave us, I can't wait to see what Lijo attempts to do with Mohanlal next.

With the previous movie being mind-bending,lijo Jose now takes up a scenic route of "LOST IN TRANCE"kind of path breaking art of cinema proving that he is one of the iconic director down south... When movies are being technically brilliant Jose comes up with an unique creativity that portrays the basics of art form at its best ... Be it a banayan tree stagnant shot or a crow on the rooftop shot clearly depicates the sundaram's rise and disappearance act through the body of James... On the other hand people's reaction around James/sundaram shows the deepness and passion of the director of film making.... Theni eswar's camera brilliancy is the soul of movie holds the major share of success... The use of nostalgic Tamil songs has been so well induced all over keeps u relaxed if ur crossing over plot....

I get what the director was trying to convey with the story but he just went overboard trying to be too artsy, boring and pushing on the edges of frustrating. He tries to leave the audience confused with the ending suggesting that they make you their own mind about what really happened. In reality nothing really happened and you wish you watching this movie was just a dream and you dint really spend all that time watching this movie. Sometimes being too creative has its downsides. If you have to try and confuse your audience so much then perhaps you did not have clarity in your mind to begin with. The movie is extremely slow to the extent that you are glad it's on OTT as you can forward a few scenes just to get through the movie. The movie is a mish mash of various concepts, treading on various themes including spirituality, reality and the supernatural but fails to do justice to any of them. It's like the director wanted to cover it all in one movie instead of treating each concept as a separate movie. Perhaps he didn't have the patience to make so many movies. Overall a big let down. Making simple things more complex unnecessarily does not show creativity, instead it shows the lack of it. Watch if you have nothing better to do.
