Minha Querida Oni (2024) Movie Watched #240 Rating: 2/10. Film watched on September 28, 2024. Previous Film: Minions 2: A Origem de Gru (2022) Next Movie: Baki Hanma X Kengan Ashura (2024) The Brazilian dubbing is very good, but it doesn't save it. I understood the message behind this movie, but I found it so bad and boring. Characters without charisma that at no point was I able to connect with or care about their outcome. The Brazilian dubbing is very good, but it doesn't save it. It took me a while to understand this story, it started out extremely confusing. Conclusion, a terrible film, but there must be people who like it.

I dont get why this movie gets so much hate, in my opinion its better then both drifiting home and a whisker away, and is by far the best thing i have seen from studio colorido, most of the comments i saw about this movie talked about how hiragii has no personality, of course hiragii wouldnt have much of a personality in the start, even though the reason he went on the journey with tsumugi originally was to help her, during the journey, with her help he learns he needs to stand up for him selfe, something that would have never happened if he stayed back home, its called charecter development, besides he and tsumugi have exceptional chemistry and are actually pretty cute together, its the opposites attract kind of romance, plus i also find hiragii really relatable, i too am a guy who cares alot about helping people even if i dont know them, me and him also basically look the same so it felt like i was in the movie wich made it even more immersive for me, the animation is also crazy good, some of the best i have seen in 2024 so far But with that said, even though i give this movie a 10 out of 10 i have one minor nitpick, and thats just how accepting of the things that happen the entire cast are, for example: when hiragii brought tsumugi to his house for the first time, his parents are just so accepting of the fact that their kid brought a girl that they had never seen before to their house, but im willing to forgive that flaw because it leads to some of the cutest moments of the movie so overall i highly reccomend this movie, dont listen to the hate comments, its worth it.

"My Oni Girl" plays with fire, in it utilizes a lot of story tropes that drive me crazy in less talented hands. I typically hate stories where misunderstandings lead to people running away. I hate vague world building with unclear consequences. And I hate when stories take an extreme tonal shift part way through the story. But, in this film, these things didn't bother me as much. The secret to that success comes down to the likability of our main characters. The animation and voice acting are both really good. I want to give a special shoutout to Victoria Washington who plays Tsumugi in the English Dub, she does a great job conveying all the emotions this character goes on. The first half of the movie is almost formatted like it could be episodes in an anime series. The two leads come across various characters on their adventure and help them out in some way. This isn't a format I typically enjoy. But in this one we get to see how kind and thoughtful our main character Hiigari is. Hiigari is just the nicest guy, the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. The worldbuilding might be vague, but the audience is given just enough information to keep things grounded yet mysterious. The movie takes a drastic turn in tone about halfway through. Always refreshing when a movie keeps you on your toes. Much like the Tsumugi, the movie might be a little demon, but it so cute and likable I can't help but enjoy it.

It's realy lifting and almost had me crying the part were he got locked in the pantry was 1 of my favorites the ending wasn't the best but I've never finished a movie and just sit there and yapped to myself about how good it was the best part is when they got to the shrine and got in to that fight then he got ate by the snow dragon thingy I sit on my phone for 10 minutes looking for posters and other stuff I've never watched a movie then instantly restarted it I hope with my life they make a book or part 2 or even a show and the part at the end were it just cut off like that realy made me upset and the part were there in the hotel or whatever we she says I changed clothes to don't tell me you did this was funny but the type of funny that's like you think it's funny and don't luagh or anything.

The animation is beautiful, the music is bangin', the characters are great, and the first half is actually pretty good! That's about where it ends though. One of things I see being talked about the most is that it has no message, however, it does have a message, that being: Share your true feelings with the ones you love before it's too late. It just does a bad job executing it. It also does a bad job at explaining things, it never explains what happened to Tsugumi's mom, why the snow gods attacked, why Hiragii was connected, etc. The best part is the credits and that's not even a joke, I just really like ZUTOMAYO and "Truth in lies".

This movie started with promise and held interest until the last 20 minutes or so. At that point very strange things started happening with no rational explanation or relation to the plot (such as people suddenly falling through the air for no reason... and without dying, as a start). There was such an extreme amount in this movie that is totally left unexplained: Why the mother left in the first place. What are Oni? (The girl and her village definitely doesn't fit traditional explanation.) What are the Snow Gods and why are they attacking Oni? I would go on with several more items but that would get into spoilers... if it's possible to spoil a movie with no actual plot. There are so very many strings left dangling at the end of this movie, and it is so disappointing after a promising start. I don't really understand why anyone would like this movie, nor why anyone would think it has exceptional animation, because the animation is merely average. I would have to call the concept uninspired, the story-line unfulfilling and lazy, and the overall movie a waste of viewer time. I will never understand how scripts like this ever make it to production. Evidently the writers/director had something they saw in their mind and just took it for granted the audience would "get it". But there's not enough substance to this movie to even call it a story. It's pointless and without satisfying explanation of mysteries presented throughout-- with the audience left hanging at the end.
