It dives deep into the bonds that are formed by those who sacrifice so much for the rest of us, and brings home the importance of keeping their memory alive. Shawn's film is powerful and he does a fantastic job weaving the narrative together with the help of those that lived it, including his father.

Shawn Kelley's My Father's Brothers is a straight-forward and exceeding through document of a single battle in Vietnam. No stone is left unturned. Beginning with the logistical perspective, detailing the bad decisions and unique circumstances leading up to the battle. Following up with an intense moment by moment account of everything that happened during the lengthy encounter. Moving on to the trauma experienced by all who participated and the process of recovering and even reconciling with other combatants. All of this is told by ten men who where there and in many ways have never truly left Vietnam. The movie is really a son's effort to understand a great father who was in some ways a bit out of reach. This perspective makes it very accessible to both military and history enthusiasts as well as regular viewers looking for an amazing story that is well told. A rare documentary that answered just about every question it raised. Very satisfying and expertly made with excellent pacing. A story that I wasn't looking for, but one that hasn't left me. There many excellent Vietnam Documentaries, but few are as well contained as My Father's Brothers. A complete arc in this fantastic movie.

Shawn Kelley has done a brilliant and heartfelt job focusing on the emotional trauma that comes with military men and war, especially as they develop brotherhoods that extend beyond their own families - especially upon returning back to the USA and completely changed in so many courageous yet disheartening ways. The focus on this brotherhood and comradery is heartfelt but also rife with dense realities and emotions that these brave and valiant veterans have to carry for the rest of their lives. A must see for the youth of today who need to understand the sacrifices and ills of war.

This documentary is a incredibly powerful tribute to ordinary American men surviving an extraordinary battle. Detailed accounts from the soldiers in telling their story to the reunions today that help them heal is touching and heartfelt. My Fathers Brothers is a must see. A Masterful presentation by Shawn Kelley and his team. What an incredible way to honor your father and the brothers that he fought with. Bravo!!!

A riveting story, beautifully told. Important, but also emotional and beautiful. A must-watch!
