I was so disappointed. normally I love sias songs, but most of the songs featured here were not what I wS looking for.
the story line was pretty boring, or maybe it was just their execution

This movie should have never been made to begin with, but the fact that it has been released to the public with its ableist bs storyline is appalling. Restraints that have killed autistic persons should not be glorified in a film setting EVER

This movie is so harmful to the autistic community. Right from the opening scene, with flashing lights and loud music, which csn trigger sensory overload, and Sia's direction of Maddie Ziegler to perform a caricature of an autistic person. It's all horrible. The meltdown scenes where they restrain her to the ground, to the caricature of non-verbal autistic people. It's all bad.

I'm heartbroken, angry, and so, so disgusted. Sia was my hero for so long. As a neurodivergent person watching this, I felt sick to my stomach to the point I had to turn it off. Is this really how she sees me? How she sees people like me? I'm so disappointed someone I used to look up to so much turned out to be a wretch of a person. Absolutely evil.

Very offensive to those on the autism spectrum. It's painful to watch.

Zu is on parole and doing AA sessions when she finds out that her grandmother has died, leaving her as sole guardian of her half-sister named Music. Zu hardly knows Music who is a teenager with autism. Fortunately the grandmother had built up a network of neighbours who have some understanding of young Music's condition but the circumstances are nearly overwhelming for all concerned.
This is a fable about making family and about the power of music, in more ways than one. Songs make up a colourful part of the story with all the characters having musicality in different ways. As well as the unfolding drama of the non-verbal teen and her new guardian, we veer off into the dreams and fantasies of the young girl which are presented as pop-clip sequences with vivid costumes and novel choreography.
Music is the directorial debut of the highly successful singer-songwriter Sia (aka South Australian lass, Sia Furler) and the film bears the hallmarks of her musical creativity. Kate Hudson plays the older sister Zu, a troubled, free-spirit estranged from her family, while Leslie Odom Jr. plays Hamilton, the helpful neighbour who has his own challenges.
It is a sweet story, both dramatic and comic, and the diverse characters have many lovely and touching moments. For music fans, look for a small cameo from Henry Rollins as a neighbour and Sia herself as the popstar without borders.
The young girl, Music, is played by Maddie Ziegler, best known for her performances as a dancer in Sia's film clips and tours. Ziegler has also worked extensively with Kate Hudson prior to this role. When you see what Maddie is required to do in this film, you will understand why she was cast for this loving evocation of a neuro-atypical character. She is a great star in this film.
The 10 new songs in the film are sung in a more orthodox style than we have come to expect from Sia, though the song "Together" which closes the film is the huge hit (3 billion views) with her trademark vocalisation. Music is an entertaining and uplifting film for mature viewers, not just Sia fans.

This film is a mockery of Autism, when faced with criticism Sia chose to be abusive.
The lead was seemingly uncomfortable that it'd be viewed as mocking & it is
This film is dressed as a telling of an autistic story but quotes suggest story ranges from never considering an autistic actor through to considering one, having a work environment which prohibited them & rather then changing it, just cast a frequent collaborator
An apology also only seemed to appear after award nominations & things like earnings or removing scenes don't seem to have been done
