OK, so as a lot of people do, I read the reviews before seeing this film. I as most of you who watch this, am a Mrs Browns Boy's fan. I can watch the TV show all day and never get bored. I found the film to be more like the earlier series when an episode was an hour long rather tan a half hour of comedy. I think the reason I wasn't disappointed is due to all the negative reviews, I went in with a 'meh' attitude thinking this was going to be one of the worst films ever, so with expectations low, the film exceeded those expectations. Some parts of the film were a bit daft and pointless, but that's to be expected when making a 30 minute TV show into a full length movie. The story line, I thought was quite a good one. Even though the amount of the debt was pretty darn far-fetched, but if I forgot about the actual number it was quite good. I also liked the serious tone behind the comedy and the way one could relate to the situation. Maybe the blind ninjas was a bit stupid, it all came together to make a feel good and funny film. Worth a watch. I'll probably buy this on DVD when it comes out.

After reading all the above reviews, I was skeptical. However, I am keeping this short and sweet. If you go to watch this film, take it for what it is - Slapstick Comedy. It is so predictable ( the essence of MRS BROWN's BOYS TV show) yet the way Brendan and the cast deliver it, makes your ribs sore with laughter. The film is full of warmth, love and general Irish daily humour. I can honestly, hands down, the funniest film I have ever seen. I say this because I watched this with no expectations. Do the same. It's very much a Marmite moment. I will most certainly be going to watch this again in the cinema and be buying the Blu ray.

So the titular character owes €3.8 million in taxes, and has to pay it or her livelihood will be taken away. That's the story. Other sub lots involve the Russian Mafia, Racism. Blind Ninjas, Sexism, breaking the fourth wall on several occasions, and then pretending to do an outtake halfway through the film, because hey, a lot of the people who watch this abomination on TV wouldn't know what good comedy was even if they were visited by The Spanish Inquisition.... And truth be told, its terrible, from beginning to end, its cringeworthy stuff, and as soon as the titular character turns over and broke wind at the beginning, just confirmed the shameful, lazy writing that this thing has. The breaking of the fourth wall is awful, but the worse thing that this film has, are the silly out takes that we get 'treated to' in the second act, its clear that they are staged. All in all, yes, it's made a shedload of money, but that doesn't mean that many people liked it. Come the end of the film, I saw Keith Duffy, and realised I wasn't actually watching the film, I was just looking at the screen, bored senseless. Do not treat your 'mammy' to this, this Christmas, as all the advertising will no doubt say. A poisonous cash in, stopping people seeing something decent at the cinema.

I Loved it! Its the fantastic feel good film of the year! Brendan o'Carroll does it again with continuing laughs and a good aul dose of Dublin wit, Its a brilliant vibe sort of film and Dublin looks feckin Marvelous!! Mrs brown brings a brilliant mix of wonder, wit and cheer aul quality acting from all the cast. I cant wait for the sequel already as i'm dying to know what will happen next! The film brings aul Dublin characters to life in what is a forgotten personality that is eroding away from our very eyes; it really is great to see these characters coming back to life especially on the big screen! Mrs Browns Boys does not disappoint and your guaranteed a good aul laugh!!

Living away from Ireland for the past 30 years and coming home for good now has been an emotional experience and I would like to thank Mrs browns boys for getting me through some rough periods over the past year. It seems crazy to say that a comedy skit can make such a difference to your life but it's that feeling of being apart of something more. Being apart of Ireland. Being apart of Dublin that Brendan ocarroll portrays so well. I went to see the movie with high expectations. I knew there would be cringy parts and I wasn't expecting a complex plot or anything like that and I think people go to the cinema expecting and comparing films to others. Mrs brown's boys is on its own level so it would be silly to compare it.i loved every aspect of it and the way it portrayed Dublin was just beautiful. What I have noticed from talking to a good few people is that THE English REALLY Aren't GETTING THIS FILM so if you are reading bad reviews check where the person is from. You have to get moore street, you have to get irish friendly racism, you have to get the pride of the irish for Ireland and the pride of dubliners for Dublin. This film is a gem to me and will join the list of cult irish films. I feel sorry for those who don't get this movie as they are missing out on the bigger picture!

I went to see this recently and was expecting the worst from hearing reports of people walking out halfway saying it was terrible and nothing like the TV show and it had lost its magic and I was pleasantly surprised to find they were wrong. Okay yes the start had me underwhelmed and I thought this will be crap but as we got further into it regained its magic by showing you the outtakes and breaking the 4th wall and giving you the Mrs Brown things that we love. Okay yes it's a bit more polished than the TV show but movies always will be they have longer to shoot and have more money generally but it still retains the charm of the show which I would say is purely down to Brendan and his craziness. It shows you a glimpse of life in Dublin and for people complaining about the swearing they clearly haven't spent much time there as this is what Dubliners are like it's just second nature to them and they don't see the offence in it as it is so natural. My favourite bits have to be the blind ninjas, riding around the streets in Mr Wang's car, the barrister with Tourettes, the car chase with the Russians.I laughed so much at these and they remind you why you love Mrs Brown in the first place. I enjoyed the movie after expecting it to be not very good and it was really good. It still has the innuendos we all know and love from Mrs Brown but maybe not as close to the wire as the TV show.Brendan O'Carroll has found a niche in the market and filled it brilliantly. Well done.

I really looked forward to seeing this. I love the TV show. Put simply though, like so many great television comedies, it just doesn't work in a full length movie. Of course there are funny (or at least mildly amusing) moments, but just not enough of them to carry the rather absurd plot. The solicitor's character and affliction had rich comedic potential, but was wasted in style. Hopefully this disappointing effort will not damage the reputation of what is a great success story. If you get bored like I did, at least the last line gets the biggest laugh of the whole thing (at least it did when I was there). However, that says more about the quality of what has gone before than it does about that moment. Very poor.

Now I am a big fan of the TV series so have spent the last few months eagerly awaiting the release of M's BB's. I ran out of my work as quickly as possible in order to get changed and get to the cinema for what I thought was going to be my film highlight of the year......how WronG I was. As scene opens, it follows.the general consensus of the TV series by granddad smashing an alarm clock and Agnes falling over the side of the bed. Then we get some singing and dancing and continues with a heartfelt storyline of true Irish patriotism. With blind ninjas running into things ( once was funny twice was amusing, by 3,4,5,6 the joke was old). Dermot and buster riding to save the day on a stolen horse was boring and nowhere near as funny as it sounds. A long winded and even more anti climatic speech from Cathy ( was more like an obituary ) detailing why they would not leave the market. The punch lines were unfunny and nowhere near the TV series standard and the plots and under dealings were predictable and unoriginal. Rhink the whole cast should stick to making the TV series as thats clearly what they do best.

If you are, like me, a great fan of the TV series, I would advise giving this movie a wide berth. Any funny gags are predictable and very few and far between. Some of the plot lines are poor to the point of embarrassment. This has proved, once again, that British comedy rarely transfers well to the big screen. The opening song and dance routine and the closing, vomit inducing, court room speech are just not what Mrs Brown's Boys is about. The scenes involving the blind ninjas are extremely clumsily directed and executed and O'Carroll's caricature of the leader of the ninjas is, to be quite honest, nothing short of crude and offensive. I hope they abandon any attempts to make further movies and try to resurrect the hilarious TV series in its true form before a live audience.

The lack of a laughter track has always bothered me about films grown from sitcoms. I remember noticing it on the Porridge Movie with Ronnie Barker and its the same here. Before the movie has begun there is a feeling that something is missing. In saying that Mrs Browns Boys D'Movie is exactly what Brendan O'Carroll set out to produce. Its a film with heart that's also laugh out loud funny in places. In saying that, if your not familiar with the sitcom or stage shows, or you were expecting this be the comedy equivalent of the Godfather, your going to be disappointed. But this is a film for the fans, for the people who supported the stage show and watch the sitcom. I enjoyed it!
