Within the first thirteen minutes of the film there is a long drawn out scene that lasts for four minutes. This scene tries to add tension, and set a tone for the film. Unfortunately, without any context as to why their should be tension, the scene just drags on. Which is woefully counterproductive to the emotional response intended by the scene. The film provides evidence that there was a past traumatic incident, and these characters have recently moved. These events aren't shown to have any relation to their current situation, and doesn't provide any context as to why they're in danger. The scene: a character finds their front door open when returning to their house after rushing out into their yard. The character is terrified, grabs a knife from their kitchen, and then slowly walks into every room of their house. They check every corner, and the camera follows this character throughout the scene. While another character jumps into frame making a sudden sound, trying to provide jump scares multiple times during this prolonged scene too. The problem is this scene accounts for a third of the current run time of the film up to this point. All this run time devoted to a door that wasn't properly shut in haste. Adding creepy music and numerous jump scares do little to provide dread when the audience has no idea why a character is behaving this way. At the end of the scene we see a brief shadow before an edit cuts away, suggesting something is amiss. Too little, too late. I counted ten jump scares in the first thirteen minutes of the film. All without providing any context as to why the audience should be scared at all. The film doesn't get any better after this unfortunately. Having an insufferable child character doesn't do the film any favours in winning over the audience to continue watching either.

This movie is very good, so entertaining to watch. The actor is good in here, if you watch this movie maybe have a little confused about the plot twist. I hope the plot twist better in this movie.

Don't understand the low reviews on this brilliant masterpiece. It's definitely not a horror story but the way the story unturns over the course of 80 or so minutes is simply amazing. The real twist is the ending. Must watch !

A movie about murders and question who is the real murderer. Not really story nor investigating type. A little bit no sense and a little no realism. Lack of interesting moments and murders movie scenes. Would not recommend to watching cinemas but rather watch it on nothing else to watch at home.

The usual setup of females held hostage in a remote house, but in this case the background and ending denouement were creatively different than what we usually see. Acting was good.

Kate (Lora Burke) and her daughter Beth (Tessa Kozma) live isolated in a farm house in some sort of witness protection program. The neighbor girl was murdered in their closet and her husband Brad went to prison for it. There is a home break-in scene which makes everything clear (to any fan of the genre) long before the so-called twist ending is revealed. This isn't a bad film unless you figure things out too early. Guide; F-word. No sex or nudity.

This little thriller starts out well, with a mother and daughter sequestered in the countryside--which the latter is growing bored and petulant about, while the former is clearly afraid of whatever they're running from, which we assume is a violent husband/father. Eventually there are intruders, and this home invasion soon changes the dynamic of who did what and who should be afraid of whom. Those factors keep changing, and "Motherly's" plot twists would be decent enough if it didn't make a big mistake. I won't spoil that here, but suffice it to say the script eventually places far too great a burden on the sole child actor, who can't pull it off (no one her age could), and it turns the whole thing ridiculous. The film ends on notes that are both mean-spirited and cheesy, really destroying its modest but real initial potential. It's all decently crafted and acted, and resourceful considering a low budget. But when a plot goes this far off the rails, it takes the whole movie down with it.

Motherly, Not Too Bad And Definitely Not That Good, There Are Parts In The Film Where You Will Want To Watch Something Else And Perhaps Call Say "Another Garbage Movie" But I Watched It To The End But Was Well Ready For The Credits To Roll!
