I really found this movie a bit boring. I watched many thriller movies of Korea but it's really disappointing. It doesn't provide us with a clear ending. Ends with leaving us in a deep confusion '' Who really killed this girl? In the whole movie it tried to conviced this boy was innocent, mentally a child but in the end it looks like he really killed!! And what about the junkman? And the boyfriend of the girl who got arrested?

Yeah, I wanted to be the first to title this summary as, "the Mother of all Films," but it did seem kind of forced, so I settled for something more mundane. While my two favorite non-American films are from Japan ("Nobody Knows" and "Shall We Dance?"), and while China has given us Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, etc., I think that Korean cinema is on the cutting edge of Asian cinema right now. Chan-wook Park is fantastic, but after seeing a film like, "Mother," Korean cinema is more than just Park. An interesting, twisting and turning plot, gorgeous cinematography, and a great performance by Hye-ja Kim - the titular "Mother" - not only make this a fun picture to see, it should be on many "Best 10 of 2010" lists in America. Even though the vast majority of "quality" pictures get released in America at the end of the year, for right now, "Mother" is a "Best 10" picture for me.

This movie is a game between emotions and reality . the mother love plays the main role here . she seems here that she lost all her life just to give the main things which necessary for life for her son . she was the both his father and his mother . all the movie i have the sympathy with her and beileve her even when she killed the man . i thought for a second she was dreaming and what happened just a a trick and the man was lying . really great acting the movie ended with the a question will you have the same feelings and a sympathy with the woman and her son even they killed two innocent ?

A mother turns detective after her intellectually disabled son is accused of murdering a young girl. Hey, watch it for Mother's Day next year! After a decent but pretty average first half, the film seriously shifts in a way I did not see coming, and I love how Bong Joon-ho puts us into such a conflicting place. We see some of the very best of humanity in the mother's devotion put alongside something deliciously subversive. Along the way corrupt policemen, secret cell phone pictures, untreated mental disabilities, and extortion are all presented quietly as if they were to be expected in life, adding to the film's cynicism. It's a slow-burner, but the payoff is solid.

If you need to add over an hours' worth of poverty, hopelessness, mental instability, emotional and physical abuse, and wall-to-wall shrill screeching in a foreign language to your life, this is your jam.

The plot is very simple and not original. Lead actress does a good job but the movie is all about that and a few eye pleasing scenes. Rest is boredom with longer than necessary scenes. Nothing is developed and minor things float around all through the movie. Despite building any tension or helping the movie at all some scenes are much longer than necessary. Many parts are fruitless with story being never close to neither reality nor absurd. The pace never increases and the ending doesn't do enough to save it.
