Moses Storm: Trash White

I really enjoyed this. Honest, funny, charming, and I think he's very appealing. Great and unique stories, some great funny bits and some very raw and emotional parts, as well. Any time another reviewer says not to bother, I always bother. Well done.

Moses Storm: Trash White is a superbly written comedy special performed beautifully. An unashamed and personal story that has strong jokes and excellent delivery. Occasionally sentimental. Occasionally uncomfortable. Storm brings you into his history and shows you how hard growing up in poverty is without becoming a lecture or a smug pity party. My only problem is the staging, the set was distracting without really adding to the show and the outfit Moses wears made things slightly disingenuous like he was a carnival salesman. I wonder if the show had been filmed more like Jerrod Carmichael 8 that it would've better served the material. Yet the lighting is effective and the few uses of film projection are good without being distracting. Moses Storm himself is reminiscent of Robin Williams in his performance- a more sedate and subdued Robin Williams. Flaws aside this is a truly excellent comedy special. I mean, I was moved to write a review. Highly recommended.

I love comedians who engage the audience with their storytelling and have a natural sense of humor that doesn't feel forced. Moses Storm exceeded my expectations. I was laughing really hard throughout the special. I really appreciate that he used his experience in a positive and humorous way while also shedding light on the systemic issue of poverty. I hope he does more specials like this in the future (psst...Netflix).

If this is what passes for comedy in 2022, I'd rather be miserable. There is absolutely nothing funny about this film. Do yourself a favour, watch something made in the 90s or early 2000s.

Fantastic storytelling-based comedy special. The direction was superb, and the set design unique. I was not familiar with Moses going in, but I am now a fan. Definitely recommended for any comedy fans, and anyone interested in learning about poverty as well. Blending both the tragedy and comedy of life is his style, and it works well.
10/10.
