This is perfect for the upcoming Father's Day. The story is about the love of the daughter to her mentally challenged father. This is what we call the unconditional love. The movie will let you laugh, cry and realize the reality in our society. Imprisonment and sentencing death to innocent man is very common especially those who are poor and who cannot afford are the main victims of these. Heart melting and tear dropping movie. Two thumbs up for the good actors (especially to Mr.Ryu Seung-Ryong and Ms. Kal So-won, producers and the director.

Ryu Seung-Ryong is one of the hot actors in Korea. His recent movies, the ultimate weapon, "bow", "GwangHae" and many others show why he is a good actor. Actually he is probably the one of the two hottest actors in Korea nowadays. One is Ha Jung-Woo and the other is Ryu Seung-Ryong. His characters in movies were usually very manly. Sometimes a boss of a gangster, sometimes a warrior, sometimes a very solemn guy... well.. sometimes a playboy ( in "All about my wife" ) So, it was a joy to see his the other side in this movie. This story is not based on true story. However, it shows some problems in the process of police's accusation of a person and persuade him to accept police's offer by falsely presents some of their ideas and sacrifice the innocent people's life without any payback. Right after this movie, an news article was posted in a newspaper how many percentage of all those people who are sentenced to something non-trivial things are falsely persuaded to accept police's offer or things like that. So, although this movie is totally fiction and comedy, it gives us some chance to think about the problem after laughing and sobbing. One thing I noticed is that probably this movie is re-adaptation of Hollywood movie, "Green Mile". The difference is that it was about a person who had a super power in Green Mile and he tried to save a girl's life, but he was falsely accused as a killer. In this movie, Ryu Seung-Ryong is a mentally handicapped person who loves his daughter very much. He promised to buy a school bag with the "Sailer Moon" cartoon on it for his daughter. When he got his "probably" daily salary from a local market, a girl approached to him and she told him that she knew a store where they sell more sailor moon school bag. Because it was a cold day, the little girl slipped on ice and due to the too-heavy sailor moon bag she wore, she slipped heavily and to make thins worse, a cement brick which was pushing down some covers for goods at some stores fell on her forehead. So, he tried to do CPR ( because he learned it at his work ) but an woman passing by saw him and misunderstood he tried to rape her and killed her. Then there is a chief in the prison who started to see his real intention and what he actually did. He tried his best to save him, but he couldn't prevent his hanging from being processed. So, overall plot of those two movies are almost same. In the case of Green Mile, why the guy was falsely accused is based on the situation here in the US, while the mentally handicapped guy was accused so was based on the situation there in S.Korea. I don't know if Korean producers of this movie actually intended or bought the scenario from Hollywood. But the plot is like that. Sometimes it's very interesting to see how different directors and cultures draw the same topic differently. Even though I thought it was re-adaptation of Green Mile, it was not boring to watch this movie. It felt fresh. Also I had interesting time to compare those two movies. I recommend this movie.
