I couldn't make it halfway through this movie. Critically acclaimed, Netflix? Really? Spent 20 minutes building up a back story and the climax is a half-assed 3 second CG explosion? Woof. What I did see made me laugh and that's bad because it was bad acting. People are leaving all these positive reviews calling this heart wrenching ... please give me your drug dealer's number.

This is a taut, tight claustrophobic horror thriller directed with panache and passion. Naturally it's a drama filled with suspense and not a horror but the situation is so horrific that I was honestly scared for those poor guys trapped in that hell below ground. The rock and the very air presents death in pursuit. You don't know when its going to turn against you. A reality for the many overlooked workers who risk their lives for their jobs and their families. Anyone who mentions the words 'white privilege' should watch this film. The way they are expolited is criminal. The script was a little convoluted in parts and didn't quite flow as well as perhaps it could have but it's so well produced in its key dramatic scenes, especially with such a limited budget that one has to have respect for it's creator Eddie. Even as they head down into the mine is riveting. The dedication to these men is made real in the closing credits which gave an additional emotional touch. Congratulations Eddie and here is raising a glass to those incredible workers beneath the ground. Respect.

I feel like they tried really hard to make this movie and I feel bad but this movie is way boring! Too much religion, too much time spent watching people drive or stare at each other. Over all not bad for a B film.

I dont know much about what a miners life is, but having seen enough from tv shoots from the svalbard mines, i know its a narrow and dark working space, just enough room for me the claustrophobic, small but broad shouldered grumpy old man. its a film about the blackness of hell down the devils ground, where they break the black gold at the gates of purgatory, where gasses and fumes and the earpinning noise of machinery, but also silence, gives you a pretty good roller coaster ride of a my day in the mine shocker, horror ,thriller, drama feature film, made on a scoarched budget. so take my word that this is crude stuff, the actors have done their deeds eating dust and rocky water, and i think that this is quite a maximum of what you can make on a low budget. therefore impressive it is. i can just imagine what it could have been with some goliath main stream production company funding this idea, that might have been able to fulfill the soaring plotholes that obviously occurs here and there due to lack of a dollar. but the makers have done a good job making this very realistic and close to real life, so whether your a coal miner or a greenpeacer, have a look, its stunningly made a done. a recommend from the grumpy old man

I felt so bad with the personalities depicted in this movie. If every miner in US is like these guys, arrogant bullies all the time, with little disregard to life over the paycheck (yes, we all up here also need to make a living) I never want to meet one. This movie is half way there. 4/10.

What could have been a good movie of the profession, the writers could not go14 minutes without starting with the Christian messages. Good writing can portray Characters as religious without forcing the agenda to the viewers.

No spoilers here. There is nothing to spoil. Exactly as the description states. Bunch of dudes get caught in a mine. The excitment is unbearable lol

10 stars for the realistic portrayals underground, sets are amazing, very true to coal mining scenery. The actors obviously worked very hard in the gritty scenes. My only dislike was the corny music. I doubt miners would sing such corny songs. Music could have been better, otherwise, a superb film.

I thought I knew what coal mining was about. But the truth is I had no clue at all. This movie is especially interesting for its realism and the attention to details. I discovered some harsh working conditions, not happening in the 18th century but in modern times and that makes it even more frightening. The machinery is more interesting than in sci-fi movies, and the tension is higher than in alleged horror movies. There are imperfect things, but as a whole, Mine 9 is very impressive.
