Carl Brashear (Cuba Gooding Jr.) joins the newly integrated Navy, and when he applies to become a navy diver, he is pushed beyond the bounds of endurance by Billy Sunday (Robert De Niro) in order to make him fail because of the colour of his skin. Brashear's father told him never to quit and to be the best, and the Navy are about to learn how determined he really is.
Men of Honour is a heart warming story of a man's struggle against oppression, his search for respect and his driven ambition to succeed in all that he does. Cuba Gooding Jr. is outstanding in this role, he injects all the right elements into the character and makes the audience will him to win. De Niro is typically good, but not truly at his best, and all the support cast deliver what's required.
Solid direction, strong script, powerful and compelling story, excellent yet not flashy camera work and a great cast, all come together to make this movie a hit, and a must see for movie lovers everywhere.
