I really wanna know who comes up with stories like this, who approves big-budged, big-stars movies for them, and who the target audience is supposed to be. So the movie is kinda like a two-tone movie, with the first 45 minutes being somewhat of a romantic comedy and the rest of the movie being quite different. I don't have a problem with that. The problem is that after we start getting introduced to the idea that "something is wrong", the behaviour of the characters starts to make less and less sense. I get it that a character can be revealed to not be who they seem to be during the story; but is the main character, who for most of the movie is depicted as nothing but a benevolent heroine through and through, also supposed to turn psycho and literally murder a whole classroom (or perhaps a whole school) of innocent elementary students? Like, WHAT THE FUG, really? What is the audience supposed to feel? What's the intended emotional response for the makers of the movie? Disgust? Confusion? Regret of spending two hours watching this crap? If that was the goal, congratulations to the director/screenwriter, because I feel all of those things. And beyond the shock ending, the story as a whole doesn't really make much sense. We are told that the father of the family has experienced some trauma with his mother as a kid, okay, but why or how this trauma is still somehow lingering over him and even more so his daughter, is not really delved into. And what's the deal with the ex wife? What's the deal with the weird painting, why do they put super creepy eyes on their family portrait? What the real deal with the infantile regression? What's the deal with the daughter having a sudden change of behaviour from one scene to the next? What's the deal with their left ears? Yes the father was slapped by the mother and almost became deaf from the left ear, but why would the daughter have that trauma too? We can only speculate, but I don't think a good story leaves so many plot holes. I can take a shock ending or a complete change in direction for the story, but it has to make sense. The characters in this movie didn't make much sense and their story is hardly well explained.

Not even Tsuchiya Tao could save this movie. As the other reviewers have mentioned, the first half and second half of the movie has a different tone. First half seems to portray a cheerful character who has moved on from her past. The second half seems to be a film with psychotic family squabbles and trouble. Perhaps one has to be Japanese to understand the context? (since I'm not). But if this film resonates with the Japanese, it should garner more attention, right? The storyline is not just overzealous, but utter ridiculous story writing that makes cheap, jump-scare horror movies seem like Oscar-winning material.

I decided to watch this Movie, based solely on the Poster, and the Storyline. Although it was filed under the genre of Crime, as it unfolded before me, there were enough elements in it to pass under the genre of Horror. I enjoyed it, because I felt the impact made by the Characters, and the way the Story was told. (Warning, if you are very particular about every single small detail shared in a Movie itself, then this Movie is not for you, because you will probably feel that it tries to do too much.)

Very difficult to understand what is going on. It seems the 8 year old daughter kills a student, parents accuse school of bullying the daughter over PA, somehow girl dies (not clear how/by whom) and parents inject insulin into all the students and kills them all.

Don't let the first 45 minutes fools you. This is no romantic drama nor family drama at all. This deals with the deepest and darkest of every couple's heart: family Does your family come first? Does your spouse come first? Does your child come first? And how do you rate yourself as a spouse and a mother or father? Does your past define you as a person?
