This film has so many similarities with the 1977 Dutch film "Soldaat van Orange" by Paul Verhoeven that it makes you wonder whether it is a remake or a copy. There are some differences of course, where in the first we have the Queen and in the second the King!

As a Norwegian/Swedish American, I found this movie incredibly well done. Script was tight, acting great, & incredible cinematography. I did not know who Max Manus was but movie wants me to learn more about him.

For me this was one of the best WW2 movies made today. I have seen this movie several times and I'm amazed by the actors and storytelling. It tells the dark story about what people in a occupied Norway did during WW2. How the teenagers go from making fun of the occupants with pranks to finding themselves in a war against the suppressors. And the sacrifices of normal people that just wanted Norway to go back to what it was. But at the end of the war almost all of the residents were killed and those who made it hade to sacrifice everything to win. This is a story about fighting for your home and values wich is something I guess most people can relate to. It's not often I give a Nordic movie 10 stars but this movie has it all.

When i voted on this movie i gave it a 10. Im not sure, maybe I'm blinded of my patriotism, maybe not. Anyway, I'm proud that Norwegian film industry have produced a movie that get this good comments from the rest of the world. Max Manus is in my opinion a great story presented in a great way in this movie. To all those who does not know how he end up, he end up as an alcoholic but still fought himself trough to the age of 81 where i finally had to give up. He simply couldn't handle that his friends died and i cant tell how mutch i respect him for that. He blamed himself for their deaths. He was an amazing person and i cant explain how proud i am of being from the same country as him. I see people on youtube telling how proud they are of being Norwegian of the like of Solskjaer (I'm a big serious Man Utd, so don't bring that up against me) or like Aha. Forget those things. MAX MANUS. A REAL HERO!

It's always fun to watch the Nazi's get a headache over their plans being sabotaged, so watching Max Manus: Man Of War should be great; and it is. It's storyline is excellent, easy to watch and a good film to sit back and watch Nazi Germany get their butts kicked. Though parts of the film feel forced with emotion, everything else works out fantastically. Max Manus: Man Of War takes a slightly alternative approach to the World War Two genre, adding Norway into the picture, rebels and the best saboteur in the world. Though you may feel that certain characters are just put in for that sake of it, this film is with out a doubt the best World War Two film of the decade.

Almost an 8. Definitely worth a watch. Good flowing plot, great acting by Hennie and shows the great courage that Manus and others had and whom without them who knows what would've happened.

Wonderful movie, I'd say. I would have liked to have seen more of Max's experiences while he was fighting with the Finns against Russians. My grandfather and his brothers came back from that war broken, which even I, after decades had passed, could see. Almost all Nordic countries were going 'under the boot' at that time, albeit from different sources. Denmark and Norway suffered from Germany's invasion and Finland suffered from Russia's. Although, they never bested us. :) The numbers were 10 Russians against 1 Finn at the worst times but still we prevailed. Oh, by the way, Stalin was even worse than Hitler. Most of the western world just doesn't know about it.

Always nice to see another addition to the world war 2 movie genre and this movie is certainly worth while watching. The good: slow build up in suspense, with more and more dangerous missions by a group of young Norwegians who are sabotaging the Nazis in Europe. After a slowburning start I sat on the edge of my seat the entire movie. Decent acting performances in a well directed resistance movie. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but really solidly made and any fan of this genre will be treated to a fascinating portrait of the resistance in Europe, Norway, which was lead by the true life person Max Manus.

From the many movies that have documented WW2 and the contributions of the many nations that helped to defeat the hated "H" comes "Max Manus: Man of War" about Norway's contribution. In 1940 Germany conquered and occupied Norway in two months. While using it as a base of operation Norway had some men act as saboteurs to disrupt Nazi forces as best as possible. Among those men was Max Manus, played by Aksel Hennie. Max had an uncanny knack for escaping Nazi capture while inflicting maximum damage. He wasn't a superhero and none of his actions can be mistaken for superheroic--they were very humanly possible--still they were brave feats by a very determined man. Free on Tubi.
