Mars Attacks! Out of all of the planets I'd never have guessed that the celestial body named after the God of War would ever attack. Similarly flabbergasted by this Martian incursion is the ensemble cast of this sci-fi comedy. Surrounding the Earth with a flotilla of UFOs, an envoy from the Martians addresses the populace with a message of peace. But the armistice is brief. And soon the Martians lay waste to Washington, New York and Las Vegas. Meanwhile, politicians, military officials and civilians (Jack Nicholson, Annette Bening, Christina Applegate, Sarah Jessica Parker, Martin Short, Jack Black, Michael J. Fox, Natalie Portman, Danny DeVito, Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close, Tom Jones) fight back. Based on the Topps trading card series, this intentionally campy ode to 1950s sci-fi truly encapsulates director Tim Burton's once sardonic and anarchic sensibilities. Besides, the way things are going here, it'd be wiser to trade Earth for the UFOs. (Green Light)

My wife, who is a huge Tim Burton fan despised this movie, where as, I, who hates Tim Burton's movies with a passion, absolutely loved Mars Attacks. The fact that the Martians did not attack Earth to conquer it but to attack it for their own amusement made this movie such a fun ride. My god, they were little pricks, but I respected their execution of their diabolical plan. I enjoyed the fun filled cast and the cartoonish violence. When I saw it in the theater with my wife when it came out, I was laughing my hind parts off while my wife stoically stared at the screen muttering "I hate this movie" every now and then. I did finally come around and found that I really dig "Nightmare Before Christmas" so Tim Burton isn't all that bad. I just watched "Mars Attacks" tonight and yes, the movie holds up and should have gotten a lot more attention than it did when it was released.

No one likes and respects Tim Burton more than I do, but I draw the line at this movie. I understand what it was supposed to have been, but it didn't do it. See "Invaders from Mars" or "Strange Invaders" for the same story done correctly. I do thank him for giving Sylvia Sidney another job, tho. And anyone who puts Tom Jones and Jim Brown in his movie cannot be all bad!

Mars Attacks is shot beautifully!!! A wonderful cast and storyline!!! It's hysterical throughout the film, it has love, thrilling moments!!! Excellent movie to watch!!! A++ Film.

This film by Tim Burton maybe a little crazy but I like it!The cast is great,the acting is good,the action is good,the effects are great,and the music by Danny Elfman is great for the film and boy what an intro!Just that is worth watching this film!If you like Burton, Jack Nicholson,action,some comedy,and alien films then this is the perfect one for you!

This is a dark comedy, science fiction. Plenty of humor and dark humor and Hollywood's A list was lining up to be shot down by these odd looking aliens. Why don't they have lips? Pierce Brosnan was the brilliant as the Scientist that thinks he can deduce what the aliens are like, but really is completely in the dark. In fact the whole cast is great in this knock out comedy that may be alittle too dark for some and many thought it was like ID4, but it's not like ID4, it's a comedy. It was suppose to be silly, and goofy. The effects were great. Cool, if strange looking aliens, the ships look great. It mainly mirrors "EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS" in many of the major plot points. So if you've seen EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS, then you know what basically will happen. But that doesn't spoil the experience. It's a cool movie, with lots of fun to be have. It's underrated and deserves more then it got. I give it...9 STARS
