It's a rich movie - rich with an assortment of feelings, but inspirational in that the human spirit surmounts. Taiwan is the first asian country to legalise same sex marriage, and that fact is woven into a traditional concept of a ghost marriage. The story unfolds in this marriage of two marriage concepts. Beautiful story. Some moments are touching, some just jump out of the screen in absolute hilarity. Nothing much gets lost in translation, in the subtitles. Though, I suppose, it must be even better in the original. Good performances by both the leads, and good chemistry too. I felt for both of them, and I didn't want the story to end. Would love to watch a sequel.

RATED 4/10 Language: Chinese Source: Netflix The story was bit interesting same like title. But it has no other interesting scenes in the whole length. Felt bored and even irritated in lot of scenes. We had seen these family sentiments and valuing father strictness after dead. None of the scenes looks original, all are seen in multiple times in lot other movies. For me the Gay concept also not handled in matured way. All the sentiments look like forcefully inserted. From the beginning to end not even single scene holds my attention. It was like sitting on boring lecture hall. Just skip this one.

"Refreshingly, the love developed between Ming-Han and Mao Mao goes beyond the conventional realm of romantic, and enters a more universal sphere. It could and should happen to any 2 individuals who is capable of empathizing and understanding, like in a family (the film's mandarin title can be signified as "that thing about how a ghost and I become a family"). Sexuality becomes irrelevant, simply, Ming-Han learns how to love another human being who is very different from him. Also, policewoman Lin Tzu-Ching (a feisty Gingle Wang), Ming-Han's partner, is more than what she lets on, a fire breather hidden beneath the facade of an empty vase, her double-crossing byplay is a salient feminist manifesto, never underestimate a pretty girl." read my full review on my blog: Cinema Omnivore, please google it, thanks.

This movie was so good, I genuinely don't know how they pulled off putting so many genres into a singular film. It had a platonic queer aspect, it was comedic, had the science-fiction, and action element. It was so interesting seeing Ming's character development and the way they told their story was beautifully done, it's one of those movies we can be contempt with, like they didn't need anything else or for it to be turned into a show. I also like that their relationship wasn't sexual like we see this relationship develop between a straight guy and a gay guy that makes them into soulmates that doesn't revolve around a sexual relationship. They'd both die for each other and call each other husbands both comfortable with their sexuality not needing anything else to happen between them. I love that ming-han character matures and he's still dedicated himself to mao's causes and family. We see him start to actively support climate change, queer rights and his form of love for mao isn't something we usually see in bromance cinema.

It's like the two-faced character in 'Two-Faced Man' played by Wang Jing, Although the topic of homosexuality was touched upon, since it's a universal value, personally I feel it didn't take away from the comedy aspect. The director, as usual, introduced contrasting characters in many police-catching-thieves scenes, creating a mix of tension and hilarious moments. Even though it's Xu Guanghan's first time playing a comedic role that sacrifices his image, he successfully portrays the frustration of a dedicated cop dealing with a less competent partner. Actually, there's a bit of Jackie Chan's Police Story vibe in it, but later on, it's all taken over by Wang Jing's brilliance.

I started watching this Taiwanese movie without expectations. I'm glad I did, it made me laugh . Started out like any police movie where the protagonist is a hot shot cop with serious issues. His life changes wen he find a red pouch while picking up evidence during a drug investigation. From there he has a ghost mariage with a guy.. at first there was a lot of badluck and rejection until they come to a understanding/ a common cause from that point his life changes for the better he learns about teamwork, friendship, family love. It has action, comedy , drama and lots of cliches. I would recommend watching it.

Honestly, I don't have much experience with Chinese films, so you should take this opinion with a grain of salt. I did not like this. I thought for the most part the plot was entirely predictable, and even when it wasn't, it felt like it wasn't justified in terms of storytelling. The main idea of the film, isn't a bad one, but its execution seems very shoddy. And because it's a police drama, and is set in China, one is left with a bunch of questions about procedure. The police in this film act exactly as if they were in the United States, and I don't think that is entirely accurate. I think it's probably connected to the desire of the Chinese audience to see films, Chinese films, which act in a Hollywood way. But Hollywood movies are steeped in American culture, to put that into a Chinese context I think doesn't make a lot of sense. I think Korean cinema and dramas do a much better job of giving you interesting stories from a Korean perspective. But again, this is one of the few Chinese films I've actually seen, so I'm willing to admit that my opinion is not well-balanced.
