Marlon is one of those physical, animated comedians, and although the Wayans family is known for its pool of talented members Marlon goes overboard sometimes. This special was all about him interjecting himself into the life stories of the Will, Jada and Chris Rock drama.
He had a personal bone to pick with Rock, but I was scratching my head as he belabored how much he enjoyed watching Will slap Chris. I was like, when is he gonna move on to the next joke or topic? He never did! There was a dry spell for a bit until he began to explain the history and beef he had with Rock, Will and Jada, and luckily turned the show around.
If you watch, I was about ready to agree with what his brother, Damon Wayans told him after being heckled by Rock! It did get better, but I wouldn't suggest doing what he did... Staying on a singular topic. He called the trio his "friends" while talking major ish about them in the same breath. Well, if that's how Marlon treats his friends, I'd hate to see what he says about his enemies.
Seems everybody has a "I woulda did..." Story if Will had slapped them, but no one knows for sure until in the moment. Overall funny, but took about 20 minutes to get there.

I don't understand where all the hate is coming for this special. This was brilliant. Yes on the surface, haters gonna say it was only about the slap, but it was so much more. First it was actually LOL hilarious every damn minute, and give a very good take away about not being envious and trying to be your best you despite what you think is fair, cause sooner or later you'll realize you're in the best spot you should be.
On the other side, what Chris did in his special was a few chuckles and not address the issue in an appropriate way. Because it wasn't just about the black folks, it was a subject that he could've made a big deal of. About people being so offended about everything, and actually meaning something to balance out between keeping in check wrong doers, without harassing people that didn't deserve it. Anyways that ship had sailed.
Stand up should be funny and should say something, Chris's wasn't funny and while did try to say something, Marlon's special just killed it. Definitely worth the watch!

I love Marlon Waynes and the subject matter is perfectly bold I'm one of the few that is glad Chris Rock got slapped he deserved that last year I'm glad he's getting bashed! So much great stories mashed in and cinema stories so enjoyable whist being bold. God Loves Me is focused mainly on the infamous slap a lot of it which I'm oddly fine with it all most aren't ok with this I think its genius! Unapologetic fun entertainment and so much energy at 50 years old It's quite impressive how wild this is Marlon uses the resources around him so damn well this stand up brilliant I hardly watch stand up this to me was worth it!

Watched Chris's Live show first, but not live. This comedy had me in tears. Chris's show was just average, but Marlon was great. He shows what the black man really goes through to make it in the industry. I would give him a point in half more than Chris's comedy special. When he was talking about love, I started tearing up. The women wanted to hear him belt out some 90's R&B, but guy can't carry a note. Then when he said he has so many family members that his family would come out the woodwork if Will would of slapped him. I was dying. Watching Chris's show I only laughed a few times. So if you haven't seen this give this a try. Give Marlon a leading man part in a serious romantic drama. And don't make it with a white girl being his partner either.

Started funny but got a little weak towards the end. If it wasn't for the slap....... he may not have had the material for this special. Some parts are funny as hell but others fall flat... he makes an attempt to be as funny as both Rock And Smith by using them as the catalysts for his jokes but never reached the level he needed too. And as with most comedians today, he had to have his set rely on disparaging a different Race in-order to gain the support of the audience for some jokes to succeed. However, It is commendable that he had the confidence to tell the jokes that he did without worrying about today's cancel Culture and go after two heavy weights that have the ability to bury him in a joke battle. So if you have free time and can't decide what to watch... give it a watch.

I watched this special with the expectation it will be like all his other specials, a bit bland and lackluster.
Well, my expectations were not met. Marlon delivers a tasteful and hilarious twist to slapgate. Compared to Chris Rocks' special, Marlons takes you on a fun ride into the worlds of all three people involved (Will, Jada, and Chris). Do not be mistaken that this special is all about Marlon throwing a few jokes together for a few laughs, no Marlon is immersed indirectly in the lives of all three individuals.
It's one hour of pure comedy, don't overthink it, The Oscar slap is the talk of the town, a moment in history that will live forever in Oscar Award History. So why not enjoy it now while we still can? Everyone else is doing it, so laugh about it now so you don't have to cry about it later.

Marlon was quick to come up with the most basic material around the infamous slap of Will Smith and Chris Rock. Seems desperate to go on and on for so long with something that had NOTHING to do with him! This should have been a 5 minute joke. He stretched this joke for what seemed like half of the time he was on stage! I am a fan of Marlon's movies and the reruns of the Wayans Brothers show!! However, he is NOT a good standup! I can't recommend this standup special! I will go see his next movie though!

Let me first state that I'm an African-American & as funny as this special was...I find it very hard to believe that these negative reviewers are Black!
I agree with another reviewer here about the fact that the people giving this special negative reviews, OBVIOUSLY did NOT read the info about the content BEFORE watching...but had the NERVE to get on here giving him bad reviews! Such poor taste and bad form!
If you bother to READ it FIRST, the special's info section TELLS you what to expect beforehand, that the WHOLE special centers around his deep dive into Will Smith Oscar's slap of Chris Rock! Reading is fundamental people!
Wayans was witty, gut-bustingly funny & poignant, as he poked fun at ALL 3 of HIS FRIENDS...AND tied it back to himself, how he felt about the incident, PLUS how he felt about THEM from both a humerous & serious perspective, while simultaneously intertwining great nuggets of wisdom...IF the viewer wasn't too critical to miss them entirely. He was HILARIOUS, PERIOD! Bravo Mr. Wayans!
