I'm not sure if it's a gambling debt or an agent maybe it's both bur these BS super low budget cameos are not in his best interest. Stop making movies with Bruce Willis and up his level to maybe Nick Cage. The movies that Cage Makes these days may come out the microwave but atleast their fully cooked. This film has no redeemable qualities and the characters seemed lazy and contrived. Frank Grillo is hard to watch with Hollywood writers strike underway and more shows falling by the wayside pushing back premieres this fall & winter may be the driest Tv / Film season since the boom of reality TV.

This movie starts off with cute young couple Mitch and Tianna going out to the desert to prepare for an audition. Tianna is preparing for the role of one of Charles Manson's crazy groupies, so she's a little distracted and not picking up on a few subtle clues that something is not quite right. Mitch however does take notice that something is "off" and we as the audience feel the unease with him.
I don't want to say anymore about the plot because I didn't know anything about it going in, and I think that's the best way to see it.
I really liked this movie. It had a great creepy vibe, reminding me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes.
But I actually liked this movie better than both of those. I love a movie that can be scary and disturbing without excessively gory. Lazy directors throw blood and guts around,or add nudity and jump scares. This director took the time to build up atmosphere and tension. I would never have guessed that this was Remy Grillo's first time directing. I wish Rob Zombie and Eli Roth would watch this and take notes.
It's not a perfect movie of course. It looks a little rough and cheap in a few places, but that works in its favor. Again, reminiscent of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
And it is too short. I am a huge Frank Grillo fan. I've seen all his movies, so was a little disappointed he wasn't in it more. Another 10 minutes to flush out his and Jaime King's characters would've been perfect.
Lastly, I'm not sure how I feel about the somewhat ambiguous ending. I mean, I think I get it but would have liked one more scene.

The casting here was well done. Great performances out of the leads, Plasse and Hughes. The two shared great chemistry. I'm excited to see what's next for these two up and coming actors. Grillo is dark and buys in, his performance as the villain is amazing.
Kudos to the young Remy Grillo on his directing debut.
I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with this one, as I am not an huge thriller/horror fan, however I thoroughly enjoyed the film and its unique story line. Highly recommend for those seeking a well made thriller!
I know it couldn't have been easy for a group of young professionals in the industry to get this done during the height of Covid, but they did it! Congratulations!

The resurrection of the process church of the final judgment??? You could have had Louie Anderson as Roy Radin, Music by Blue Oyster Cult and it wouldn't have been done to death like the Manson story. You know people actually died and to make movies like these are in horrible taste. All the manson songs and a few manson quotes off youtube makes it all so silly. This is nothing but, been there, done that trash. The acting itself stinks, the characters in the cult are so damn ridiculous, it reminds me of a Rob Zombie movie all cheese with no pizza. As a matter of fact this movie gave me violent diarrhea. Enjoy!

I sincerely hope that the critics won't be too hard on Remy Grillo because I find this to be a decent movie for his first movie he ever directed. And I watched this movie twice just to get a second opinion on it before I came to the conclusion of what I thought about it. Were there some things that could have been better? Yes, I'll agree on that, but for his first film, Grillo did pretty good and I can definitely see he has the talent and I believe his talent will grow the more he learns and grows as a director. And I do love psychological thrillers, and I found this movie had just the right amount of thrills in it.
What I really loved about the movie is the plotline, the performances, and the intensity of certain scenes. Some parts went a little too fast in my opinion, and I felt some parts should have been added into the movie to give things a little more context, but you could still feel the main characters' emotions and I find that made the movie that much more believable. And you could definitely tell that Tiana was hiding something just by looking at her face in certain scenes, and I think you would need to completely miss that in order to be shocked later during the movie.
I've always loved Frank Grillo and his acting skills, and to see him take on a role where he is not acting like the tough guy for once is nice and I felt as if he pulled off the charismatic cult leader rather well. I think it would have been nice to give his character a little more depth or context because it seemed to me that he had some sort of political influence based on that one scene you see where it looks like he's practicing a speech in some office. Most cult leaders often have some sort of influence within society, whether that is religiously or politically, and it would have been cool for the movie to explore that just a bit.
Other than that, it's a really good film for Remy Grillo's first movie to direct. My advice would be to give this movie a chance before judging it too quickly, go watch it with no expectations, and you might find yourself enjoying the movie.
