I will never understand why people say "bad" instead of "I don't understand" what they don't understand. This movie is not like the usual "mainstream" productions. And people couldn't grasp the movie. Gia Capolla was brave. Andrew and Maya have more than done their part.

You might have thought about the message about to be portrayed in the movie before seeing it. But after seeing it you just feel weird. This film failed on every aspect. The message it really wanted to convey just fell short before the finish line. This Coppola descendant has no artistic bone whatsoever and it shows with her disastrous direction of this movie. Maya Hawke is beautiful but I'll refrain watching her movies from now on. Although I think she won't get many projects. Andrew Garfield deserves so much respect from the industry he still does, even after this movie. Can't say I was even entertained. I've never given a movie a 1 rating because I know how much efforts go into making one. So here's a neutral rating because I really liked Garfield's performance and Hawke's dullness. Cheers!

Everybody who is bringing this movie down just cause it isnt a "typical" hollywood premiere film is just dumb for expecting that of a movie about youtube. If you cant relate to the movie, to the vapidness of the main character. Maybe you just havent been paying attention. The movie is surgically precise when it comes to having a lens of the NOW on the internet, and then bringing a character that embodies everything stupid about it. If you cant have a main character who is the bad guy, you watch scott pilgrim and say "i dont like the main character so its bad"; then you're dumb. This is why we get boring movies, because of you that cant separate yourself from the experience. Watch some different movies, try to meet them halfway and you're gonna get something out of it everytime. Stop judging every movie by the greats that came before. Let the film move you, make you angry, make you cry. LET IT CHANGE YOU. Peace out, if you like the irishman, i dont like you.

So first I'll start with the cast,, Andrew Garfield acting was great, and the last scene was just wicked good .. Maya Hawke role was okay ,, Nat Wolff. Just got his everyday role, loving the girl - doesn't get the girl-then he gets the girl .. but it was a good casting overall. The bad thing now is the storyline, as some has mentioned it does have a lot of clichés ,, Like the fist 10 minutes I was like things are going this way .. very expected ... It tries to draw you back but again it just felt predictable. I do get it tries to send a message ,, a purposeful one I must say. But you also want to watch a movie with good writing /directing in which Gia Coppola was not successful. Is the movie watchable ? Yes it is .. Is it enjoyable ? I'd say 5/10 .. now is it recommendable ? 6/10 for the message an all.

First of all, Andrew Garfield gives a great superb performance, he really deserves all the praise and all the awards in the world for his brilliant acting in this movie. As for the movie, it's flawed and sometimes stupid but it's also beautifully weird, enjoyable and deep. It has an interesting idea and it delivers a beautiful powerful message. Mainstream is a very good movie that could've been a masterpiece.

This movie caught my attention because of Andrew Garfield, who pour his everything in this somewhat of a mediocre movie. Though it had an interesting premise, the execution was just...bad. If you have one and a half hours to kill, you could check it out, but you'll surely get frustrated by the end of it.

Mainstream is a must watch movie. Andrew Garfield is great as always and the movie deals with the people's addicton to internet and social media. It teaches us to be ourselves. The director Gia Coppola has done a very great work and I actually liked this movie so I suggest you to watch it.
