What Tucia Lyman has created here with MOM is one of a kind. With so much content to see and absorb out there in the world today, it becomes harder and harder to find a unique way to tell a story - and Tucia nails it.
Fantastically acted and creatively edited, MOM creates an experience that sticks with you in your bones.
Even someone like me, who tends to shy away from "darker films," found myself COMPLETELY engrossed with the subjects.
Bravo Tucia!
When's the next one!?

This movie is INSANE!! Deeply disturbing and profoundly relevant! We had questions after the first viewing so we watched it twice and OMG there are SO MANY crazy good subtleties and clues that we missed the first time! It just gets better and better. Anyone catch those rubber band snapping sounds in first half? Or what's really happening with mom's gloves?? I mean, every single detail pays off in a truly extraordinary way and it's IMPOSSIBLE not to talk about afterwards. MUST SEE more than once!!

Intense as hell! That twist was nuts. We were so freaked out after the first viewing we played it again the next day and once you know who's actually watching the footage all along it's like a whole new movie. Props to the writer of this film! Soooo creepy! We had no idea there were all those clues hidden in the audio and we finally figured out what was happening with mom's gloves! He's sick! And her dream with that extension cord is creepy AF. I recognized the actress who plays the mom from Messiah but she is off the charts in this movie. And whoever that kid is who plays Jacob should be up for an academy award. I can't stop thinking about this film, it's like imprinted in my brain or something...

This is an uncompromising look at a kind of severe behavioral dysfunction that many might recognize aspects of. It is not a story of redemption or resolution of conflict. As such, it has well developed elements of suspense and horror. The acting is exceptionally good, and the production is overall excellent. For those who appreciate a creative Indie film and are willing to take a hard look at pervasive societal problems, this is a must see.

There were some good things about this movie. I thought the son was a great example of a pschopath. Creepy. Mom was annoying as hell. But a true demonstration of a truly dysfunctional family. Mom couldn't be a good parent because she was so focused on the past. Son was a victim of bad parenting and inherited family flaws. What bothered me the most though and made what could have been a 7, a 5, was the ending. The video she watches that he made...was that supposed to make us go "oh shoot..she shouldn't have killed him. He was just kidding!" No! He was still a psychopath! What kid plays a 'joke' like that on a parent and expects things to be shrugged off. Maybe I missed the point, but the message I got was they both would have been better off checked into a psych ward. Which is probably where she's headed next if the movie was 20 minutes longer...

Lyman has hit it out of the park with her directorial debut! Brilliant acting by the two leads. Lyman also shows her deft ability to build tension and keep the viewer on the edge of their seat throughout. If you are a fan of the thriller/horror genre, don't miss this film!

One of the terrifying things about this movie is how realistic it is. Aside from the fact that it is found footage, Bailey Edward did an amazing job in his portrayal of the dysfunctional teen. I hated him and I pitied him...
The tension in the film is carried all the way to the climatic end. It has been over a week since I have watched it and I still cannot get it out of my head. All in all, I love this movie - it's so hard to find a good horror movie these days and this one hit the spot.

.. to quote the protagonist. This should have been a short because about halfway through I kept pausing to see how much time was left to endure this and get to the end already.
You're initially interested because who isn't interested in pyschopathy in a kid? At first you watch because you're trying to figure out which one is the pyschopath.
The son was obnoxious and unlovable and frankly I kept hoping she'd knock him off or just pack up and leave and go have a life of her own.
But the acting is bad. Looking at someone staring into a camera gets old fast. None of the characters are likable or even relatable.
This could have been so much better because there are real parents with real kids that they fear and are in fear for. This was blah.
The ending answers nothing.
What's up with her hands?
Was the son psychopath?
Or was mom?
Did she really tell Jerry to do it?
What difference did it make who the baby was in the photograph?

This is a really good movie with two excellent lead actors. For those who have grown tired of the found footage trope, don't let that discourage you from watching m.o.m.! The only warning I would give is that there is some imagery and content that would be disturbing to some viewers, though I wasn't particularly put off by it.
Definite recommend!!
