Being honest I was skeptical when I found out this was a Tubi original
I mean let's face it some of the programming on Tubi is scraping the bottom of the barrel But it turned out it was better than I would've expected I liked the role reversal The blood and gore all throughout the movie was amazing But the ending was a glorious chaotic spectacle I noticed a couple people in their reviews were saying something to the effect That the ending of the movie could make or break it Personally I thought the ending was fine I like it when movies throw me twists and turns that I'm not expecting and this movie gave me plenty of surprises.

From the jump, I knew that this one was going to be hard to follow. The look of it all, the setting, the wardrobe, the exterior, the actors themselves, and then, worst of all, their acting.
It's just all bad and not at all right.
None of it seems normal.
Certainly not believable.
In film, we have to believe.
Buy in.
Even in horror movies.
Especially in horror movies.
I knew that though a mere hour and a half, from the start, with the way this was going, it was going to be a long, long, loooong haul.
A fantastic three hour epic can seem like a viral clip.
A bad, short movie like this can seemingly go on for centuries.
One day I'll want this 90 minutes and five seconds back.
All of it.
So, an oddly-dressed family with perfectly combed hair looking freshly-showered living out of an outdated RV on vacation during a quite chilly time of year (you can see their breath in conversation) as they picnic outside, is encountered by, yikes, two guys in an old truck speaking with southern accents (but of course!)
These two guys speak and say things nobody would ever say, ever to strangers, much less a family, and the patriarch in turn reacts how no one would ever react.
Later, they meet again, and more of this awkward interaction continues but this time one of the inexplicably, physically dirty rednecks has a shotgun and they're blocking the road.
Why?
Because this is stupid and it's doing what's been done before but this time, worse, and again, totally not believable.
But, you won't believe this, more bad decisions occur.
And we're not even fifteen minutes in.
And then there's a twist.,
And it gets the stupid to a whole 'nother ridiculous and grotesque level.
It's cute for a minute, but just a minute.
Then it's back to dumb and even dumber.
Who writes this stuff?
This seems real to you?
Oh, and there's even a lengthy musical interlude.
Yay.
I love a recital injected into the midst of all my horror movies!
You have to ask at some point in some movies, why?
Why is this happening?
Or, as in here, why is any of this happening?
Why are the characters doing what they are doing?
And in this movie, it just doesn't make any sense.
Any of it.
There is a beautiful love scene. A love scene? I know. But it is, and that is the only reason this garbage movie gets rated as high as it does.
This movie wants to be clever but it's not for all the reasons that I mentioned.
Aside from the amazing make out session there is nothing here except frustration and boredom.
This is one of the worst, if not the worst streaming films of 2024.
Take the high road. Live the high life. Don't waste your time and stay away from these Lowlifes.

Don't watch the trailer if you really want to experience the twists and turns throughout the movie. This was a really great slasher home invasion style flick it was dark humored, gorey, and never seemed to have a slow moment.
I have to talk about the ending because I actually yelled at the TV wow what a way to end it all. Can't say too much but it did keep me guessing what was happening next but sheesh the end hit like a brick wall to the face but I also love when movies keep you on your toes so after I calmed down I appreciated it more lol.
All in all this was a great horror thriller from tubi or wherever. Would recommend!

A family of four in an RV stops on the side of a trail to have a barbecue. Two hillbillies stop and start asking about their cousin. Later, the family runs into the two hillbillies again. Their truck had broken down and the family is pushed to take one of them aboard the RV.
It is a lower budget Canadian horror with a few recognizable faces. It's Tubi and it's better than expected. There are some fine actors. The surprise turn makes this interesting. I wasn't expecting it, but I was looking for something. This delivers that something. The family is fine initially, but for whatever reason, I like them much more after the turn. They get more fascinating. It leaves me uncertain as to the path of the story and that's a good thing.

Right from the start, I thought that this "picture" was a little bit out to lunch. But as it went along, it did NOT get better...it got worse. No plot, no story-line, no nothing!! It jumped around here and there and had absolutely no rhyme or reason. It does this movie a disservice to call it the worse of the year. The worse of all-time would be better. I am sitting here just all agog from how bad this movie is. It actually started out as having possibilities. But when the local "townie" gets in with our traveling family and the son attacks him, everything from there, on...plain old stinks. I rated this one a 3 and I think I'm doing you all a disservice in doing so. Hopefully you wont watch it. I apologize.

Keith (Matthew MacCaull) and Kathleen (Elyse Levesque) are taking their kids Jeffrey (Josh Zaharia) and Amy (Amanda Fix) on an RV vacation across the country. While the family eats breakfast, Amy goes off to smoke and two backwoods types appear and are vaguely threatening. You've seen it before in, well, nearly every RV horror and rednecks against normal folks movies.
Except this one has a twist.
And I don't want to reveal it because even though I assumed it was coming, the way it plays out was pretty great.
Directed by Tesh Guttikonda (the writer of Influencer) and Mitch Oliver and written by Al Kaplan (Zombeavers), this places the RV family into the home of Vern (Richard Harmon), Billy (Ben Sullivan), Big Mac (Dayleigh Nelson), Savannah (Brenna Llewellyn) and Juli Ann (Cassandra Sawtell). Their home is isolated far from the closest down and the law, which is Deputy White (Alexander Calvert).
Again, without giving much away, this does a great job of pitting the civilized -- a family that barely gets along and use drugs to get by -- against who they perceive as the hopeless uncivilized country folk who carry guns everywhere they go. The film also places your sympathy with some characters and then pulls your feet out from under you when the reveals -- there are more than one -- happen. Toss in some solid comedy that doesn't diffuse the tension and some grisly gore -- look out for that eyeball scene -- and you have a slasher that's way better than what we've come to expect from the genre lately.

Lowlifes didn't offer me any surprises when it came to the main plot but definitely has a few unexpected moments along the way.
It's hard to discuss without giving away too much but I wanted to add a little review just to bolster the ratings really as the filmmakers and actors deserve it.
This is a low budget feature but the cast put a lot in and make you root for or hate the relevant characters.
It's acting that hopefully sees the main players get more work in the future.
The action/horror moments are gory and tense and hit the spot of what's hoped for in a slasher movie like this.
It's a little gem of a film that I hope gets watched by a good number of people.
