Let's be honest. Horror movies these days suck. But I saw this on Netflix, and I thought I'd give it a chance. "From the makers of The Blair Witch Project and The Lord of the Rings." Seems promising enough, right? Jesus, how wrong was I. How do I even begin. This movie is like an attack on your conscious being. It was like... like The Blair Witch Project on oxycontins. And how appropriate, since the same people who made that made this dribble. It was uncomfortable, unengaging, unentertaining, underwhelming, and anti-climatic as all hell. Though it was only 99 minutes, it seemed to go on for hours and hours. And you know, I have no problem with long movies, as long as they're entertaining. My god, I knew exactly what was going to happen next pretty much the entire movie. And towards the end, Jesus. A monkey could have guessed. Everyone dies, in the most predictable ways. A screwdriver to the back of the neck. Except for the very end, which made all of no sense. When she's walking outside, towards that wolf-owl-raccoon-horse thing... if you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about. But hey, who am I to judge the people who praise this garbage. If you like watching people walking suspensively through doorways while a never ending high-pitched static sound plays in the background (PS, be prepared to have a ringing in your ears for upwards of an hour after the movie), then damn, be my guest. If you're looking for a good horror movie, might I recommend: Suspiria, The Thing, Carrie, The Exorcist, or Christ, anything but this. Honestly, I wish she would have gone through with the suicide in the beginning of the movie. Would have saved me an hour and a half, and probably some brain cells. 1/10.

Lovely Molly is fantastic. It will leave you slightly confused, completely terrified and yet surprisingly curious. It has huge subplots which aren't completely tied up at the end of the film and the only way to discover more is via the website and 'using the internet'. This just adds depth to the film in my opinion and well worth the time investment.
After watching this film, i have found myself desperate to talk to other people about it and genuinely couldn't stop thinking about it.
There is a use POV camera work this IS explained - very, very clearly. I genuinely don't know how some people can miss this type of thing unless you're not watching the film properly. What bothers me here, is that said people then post a review of the film which makes them look stupid and simply doesn't accurately reflect how good this film is..
If you're looking for a film with a run of the mill villain, then this isn't for you. If you're looking for something chilling and one which will frustrate you to the end by keeping you asking questions then this film something you should watch.
Very underrated film this.

This is a tedious and generic horror flick that isn't original. It's just dull to watch, it's by the makers of the "The Blair Witch Project" a movie I am not fond of. It tries to incorporate standard horror movie cinematography with found footage aspects of it and it still comes off dull. The plot is about a newlywed couple that moves into a house that has a lot of dark history behind it and weird things starts to happen to the wife named Molly. Yeah, it sounds very cliché for horror movie buffs out there and this one really is narrow. It doesn't throw anything new or shocking for that matter. The tension sort of builds up for very few scenes and leads to disappointment. It tries to blend elements from the "Paranormal Activity" franchise but it's not all that effective. Although I am not fond of the "paranormal Activity" franchise either. The ending is a big let down and I was like "what the crap so is that it?". Some horror movies are effective by not giving away of what is exactly going on sometimes. But that isn't the case here, I was getting annoyed because I wasn't entirely sure what was really going on and what is behind the weird stuff that is going on. The special features part of the DVD gives a bit of back-story but the audiences shouldn't have to go to the special features to be a bit slightly satisfied. In fact the special features part of the DVD is way better than the actual movie itself. And it's kinda comedic unintentionally of course as well. The weird static noise in this gets more annoying instead of getting gradually creepy.

Molly and her husband Tim have moved into her deceased parents house out in the country.
Not long after they move in Molly starts getting haunted by forgotten memories, or so she thought. Her husband Tim is a truck driver and while he's away she starts seeing things and hearing things that she can't explain.
She slips back in to old habits, involving drugs. Her sister Hannah gets worried about Molly, as is her Pastor, and her boss notices something is up too.
But there is more to what is happening than most people know. It all comes out in the most horrific way, and not everyone is good at acting......
Really ignore the fact that the makers of two prolific films had something to do with this, it stinks to high heaven.
When the film starts with found footage that is just boring, you know you are in trouble. And yes, it doesn't take much to realise that the titular character was abused by her father as a child and now he takes advantage of her at work.
The cast are awful, it's not captivating, and come the end, you hate every character enough to smirk at their fates.
If Sanchez took twelve years to right after the amazing Blair Witch, he should quit now and realise he had only one idea.
It's pathetic cinema, and the fact that she is greeted by bag puss at the end is laugh out loud funny.

Let me start off by giving some positive credit. The actors performed fairly well. The main character was portrayed pretty well in a dark, depressing and sinister fashion. The unfortunate thing is that my compliments end there.
A newlywed couple move into the brides late fathers home with horrible results. The groom is employed as a truck driver and must leave his love all alone in their new home to battle her past. Her late father seems to be making contact with her and its not such a good thing as he was abusive. Molly, the bride, begins spiraling into madness it seem as daddy's back and up to his old ways. The groom being the supportive spouse try's to reach out to her and urge her to get help. He's never given much of an explanation as to what going on. The sister of the bride refuses to get sis some help. By the end of the movie you'll question your sanity due to the fact you sat through this dud. I wanted answers so I felt obligated to 'keep sniffing the turd'. Horse heads being cut out of pictures and pasted over daddy's face in photo albums made no sense to me. Why did she have the deer stored in the ceiling of the basement? What was the thing at the end that we're shown by way of extremely poor CGI? Did it help her move everyone's vehicles and the furniture out of the house? How can I contact it for my next move so I can have such quick and great results? This movie was horrible. Please don't waste your time. You'd be better of slamming you genitals in a drawer full of razor blades and salt.

There was absolutely no point to that entire film. I cannot believe people have rated this anything other than 1 star.
Please please please don't waste your time like I just did.
Oh I have to write 10 lines.... Right...
Yes I agree the lead females acting is pretty good, but that doesn't make up,or the lack of storyline. I also got to the point where I actually didn't really care what happened to her anyway.
I watch a lot of horror movies but just can't see what the director was trying to do with this film. At no point did he build up any sort of tension or suspense. The most scared I got was when I had he urge to poke my eyes out and block up my ears so I didn't have to endure the final 30 minutes.
I've never written a review before (as I'm sure you can tell) but I have also never seen such a pis poor movie.
I think I've made my point.
Rant over!

Look the movie is creepy and got me suspended for a long time. It was successful in creating suspense and intensity but in my opinion fails to deliver a message or an ending.
There is a moment towards the end where Molly goes out to hug "someone" I am not gonna say it so I wont spoil it for you but I keep wondering what on earth did they think when they were making this scene! Another part that I will vaguely criticize is the struggle-less death that happened in the movie. It just doesn't make any sense.
Overall, I gave the movie 6 stars because it was exciting and creepy but I was pretty disappointed with the end and how things developed eventually.

Lovely Molly is the tale of one woman's painful past returning to take hold of her once more just as she begins her marriage to her new husband in her family's old home. Molly's transformation throughout the film is beautifully played by Gretchen Lodge, each bit of her turmoil peels back another layer of her past and the horror unraveling around her.
The bond with her sister, played by Alexandra Holden is believable and real, the interactions between the two women showing the conflicting feelings of fear and love as they both struggle with the changes in Molly and the memories of the past.
Thick with tense moments, Lovely Molly is eerie, tragic, and disturbing but not rife with gore or shocks designed to make you jump in your seat. Instead, there is a sense of inevitable dread that hangs in the air throughout the entire film. The house itself is as much a character in the film as those who inhabit it. Every small old room, creaking doorway, bit of chipped paint and worn wood seems to hold the promise of something sinister.
And that is a promise that does not go unfulfilled.

Really? I was drawn to this movie for one simple thing..the producer of Blair witch, so it must be something at least, right. I really liked blair witch, it was original, had some really nice scares. Well, please keep away from this one, and don't waste any energy or time watching this terrible production. . This is a totally different sphere. I am amazed what a load of bulls"t some producer can through out there, just because it has made it it before.
The movie just picture some mental breakdown of a gal, which tries to blend in a possession thing from her deceased dad. Well, I could have spun that off much better, with some scenes at least that would make it worthwhile. I am so frustrated I didn't stop watching after the first 10min of the movie, so you do yourself a favor and do not bother at all.

Tremendously glad I got to see this film at TIFF. Not content to adhere to the one-two punch of a little quiet followed by a jump-scare that seems de rigueur in modern horror cinema, Sanchez delivers hardcore on the building of atmospheric tension and a sense of creeping dread. This is achieved so well, in fact, that I was unaware of the precise moment at which one of the characters' fears became my own. The leads are honest in their performances, with Lodge being utterly fearless within the delivery of a truly fearful character, and none of the relationships smack of the disingenuous--other horror filmmakers take note; we're more creeped out when we're creeped out by and for actual people. If you need a dude with an axe/machete/mask combo, this one might be a little subtle for you. If you want to squirm wile you bask in the sense that everything is horribly wrong, you can't miss this film.
