I'm not sure this is actually Yellowstone. I think they said her friend was moving to Wyoming, so that would be the Yellowstone factor, however, the romance that supposedly happens in Yellowstone doesn't. In fact, it has nothing to do with Yellowstone. So why the false advertising? I think they were actually in Colorado, because the father says something about her not being from Denver, so that's a clue, but maybe I missed something. Now that's out of the way, here's my thoughts about the film. The lead female is despicable at first, indeed very easy to dislike, but as you will see, this changes ever so slowly over time. She does become somewhat endearing eventually. But she's not a daisy, she still retains some fire. She's an assertive and opinionated city girl, after all. But her true colors flash now and then and she's predominantly likable. Of course the lead male is to die for. If I had to choose the hottest, rugged men of Hallmark, he would be in the group along with Donovan, MacFarlane, Walker, Hynes, Polaha, Rosner and Paevey. I'm a dude and even I can tell who the ladies dig. The story is standard and there is nothing new, so we have to rely on whatever originality the actors give us. The city slicker mentality is awkward in a backwoods cowboy town, so that was nice and tense. Otherwise, it's just a simple love story between a blond bombshell and her very own cowboy. There is some competition with the female ranch hand, which added some drama, but not enough.

Don't pick on the actors. They did what they were told to do. They made Olivia look shallow and selfish just to show how much she had grown by the end. Plus, her being good at a few things even though she wasn't a country girl doesn't mean it's bad writing. Some people can just do things. She probably didn't even know she could until she did because she got all excited when she actually did. She sure didn't throw axes in New York or drive cattle in New York. She was just putting up a brave face and seemed quite surprised that she actually did it. We're not talking about the Oscars. You knew going in that it was a Hallmark chick flick / romcom. Didn't like Christopher Russell the first time I saw him in something but I've seen him in a number of things and he's really growing on me. I'm liking him very much. Yes, some things are stereo-typical like what New Yorkers think of people who live in the boonies and vice versa. Olivia was a bit too perky for my liking but that's what the writers wanted. Overall, the two main stars brought out the best in each other's characters and found what they were good at doing. Predictable, yes but again you should have known that going in. The writers weren't the best and the actors had to do the best with what they were given. I say thumbs-up to the actors.

If this is Hallmarks idea of a comedy, it doesn't work. Stereotypical characters probably will insult New Yorkers and westerners alike. Then there is the stereotypical gay friend. The air-head bride giggles her way through. The gay guy who wears spures and doesn't know what they're for, how stupid. Putting 3 greenhorns on a trail ride for hours doesn't work. They're bums would be sore after the first 5 minutes. Wolves are nocturnal animals, why they are out during the day? Typical New Yorker rides off ?? Then they throw axes and she doesn't miss? Fixing a fence on a ranch, he leaves to let her finish? And she is holding the hammer wrong and then gives up? How stupid. And don't forget the local dance and sing-a-long. Predictable outcome.

Olivia so fakey why do all the womem wrar such tight clothes.
The scenery is beautiful acting awful why do actors and actresses have to overwhiten their teeth so artificial.

This movie was enough different from the formulas to be fun. Still no great highs or lows or surprises, but it made up for that with fun.
The NYC slickers made fun of the stereotype. Throw in some silly karaoke and dancing.
But there were less frivolous romantic moments too. Stephanie Bennet and Christopher Russell had some quiet chemistry.
Another effort to be a little off formula, that moment before the climax where you expect overhearing something which creates a misunderstanding wasn't exactly a misunderstanding. Nothing lame, but real.

Whats not to love about this film? Ok it can be a bit cheesy or sappy at times but what rom-com hasn't? If you love westerns, Cowboy Hats, Horses, and a nice unplanned romance then this film ticks all the right boxes. Listen it's not "The Godfather" or "Serpico" and it's definitely not Lonesome Dove but what movie is? So if you're in the mood to have some popcorn and cuddle with your special someone while enjoying a good (not great) rom-com then this will punch your ticket. Besides guys it's about time you let her pick the movie, wait did I just say what I thought I said? Yep too lazy to erase what I wrote and write something meaningful for once lol.

There is not a serious minute in this fun and funny city slickers meet ranch-life comedy. It was very well cast and the actors made this even more likable than it had any right to be. Christopher Russell was perfect in a role that fit him like a glove. And when CR is on point, he is the bomb-diggity. Recommend this when only something light will do.
