The Asylum has been around for a while now, and yes this movie is from 2016, but i watched it in late 2022. I know what is The Asylum and what they produce. Sometimes i enjoy myself decently with their low budget movies, sometimes i really don't. In this case, it was alright... If you decide to watch an Asylum movie, you should know what you gonna get wich is basically average to subpar acting, mediocre scripte, bad CGI and more often than not, some nice naked girls. This movie check all the marks. The acting is alright and actually better than expected, the nudity is completely useless to the script but very welcomed as that lady is very hot ;) and when it comes to special effects, the CGI is terrible because lets face it, The Asylum never really get much budget, and it looks like a Playstation 3 cutscene at best, but the practical effects and real dogs they used to portray the wolves were decent. Obviously they had to go around a few things, you got A LOT of close up shots of the real animals and the camera can get pretty shaky at times, but it never look super terrible or anything. The script ain't amazing by any means but its serviceable. For a movie call Little Dead Rotting Hood tough, there is a lot more screen time for Eric Balfour's Sheriff character. That said, he was probably the best actor in the movie. The reality is i saw this movie for rent for 1$ during the Halloween discounts on Xbox, i knew what i was gonna get when i saw it was an Asylum movie and it was just that, no bad surprise at all. I was fine paying 1$ for that and it was midly entertaining for that 90 minutes. Thus why i am giving it the average rating.

Like the title says, I didn't find this to be very good. It is certainly not on par with any of the better werewolf films. Based on the fx, it looks identical to a Syfy Channel production, but a bit bloodier. Nothing is really horrible about it, it's merely a cut rate b-flick. There is a decent amount of blood, but mostly via the stated "fx" I mentioned above.

I am a fan of the B movie genre, so I am more forgiving than most. This movie wasn't bad. Would be a good movie to watch if you have your buddies over for pizza etc. The plot hung up a few times, and the storyline was so nonlinear that it caused me to say on one or more occasion ...Why is she doing this? or Couldn't this have been written a bit better? If it was then it wouldn't be a B movie. My final answer is 'watchable' and nowadays that has to be enough.

People need to start rating movies based on what they are , for instance a movie produced by asylum is going to be a low budget b title film. A movie with the title little dead rotting hood is not going to be the next howling!! With that in mind it over delivers and under sells. It has an excellent cast with some very respected actors 1 is a 5 time Emmy winner!! It has decent effects for its budget and the story was excellent and it did what its suppose to do....ENTERTAIN!! I actually would like a sequel as it deserves one, oh and the 3d was ok.

Has far as B-movies go it is not horrible. The acting is about where you would expected it to be. Really the only thing that kept throwing me off was the sheriff's half latino daughter when both parents'were clearly caucasian.

I was flipping through Netflix, and saw that Eric Balfour was in this movie, since I have enjoyed everything I've seen him in, I decided to give this one a watch. If you are afraid of dogs (that were supposed to be wolves), you will probably not like this one. For the most part, when they were attacking, it actually looked real. And when they showed their teeth and were snarling/growling, yea, that could freak someone out with a dog phobia. The acting was pretty good, and the storyline was believable (for a horror movie). The gore was also decent, nothing really extravagant. The one part that I didn't feel was needed for the movie was to have the sheriff's kids come to town. Nothing much happened to them that added to the movie. They didn't get kidnapped or killed, and the one scene that involved the girl and a wolf, really didn't add anything. When the monster wolf changed back to human, the transformation was pretty cool. You could see the multiple teats, which I don't really remember often seeing on other werewolf movies. If you enjoy werewolf movies, I would say to give this one a watch.

When I was a child, I would peruse the horror VHS section of my local video store and look at the box art. I remember many covers distinctly even after twenty-five years have passed. Had I seen "Little Dead Rotting Hood" back then, I'm sure it would stick in my mind too. That is the reason I checked it out after seeing it on Netflix and many other places since it's release. The film is directed by The Asylum's vetran Jared Cohn. He is one of the better directors they use, and this film is leagues above most of their work. That does not mean it is generally good. It is not at all. What it manages to be is actually entertaining as a low budget werewolf film. A lot of The Asylum's work is not only bereft of entertainment but also bereft of effort. The film actually features plenty of nudity and practical effects. The werewolves are mostly played by real-life canines in most circumstances and the makeup is on point. Horror fans can always appreciate good gore effects. The blood is neither too syrupy or excessive. The animal actors physically interact with the victims when they are attacking them. If only that aspect was good. The werewolf attacks are a blurry mess. The camera shakes all over the place permitting the viewer to see nothing. The blurry attacks are better than the CGI transformation. Cohn knew these effects were trashy and thankfully limited their presence. Seriously, the CGI looks like it was from a 1990s movie. The "fights" between Red Rotting Hood and the CGI monster are laughably bad. The monster is so obviously not there. Perhaps this is why Red seems to get her butt kicked so badly? It gives the fake looking monster some unjustified screen credential. The actors are competent and professional. You might recognize a few from daytime TV shows. The story they have to work with is unworthy of their mild talents. Red is an undead "guardian" of the town from the werewolf den mother. The den mother's connection to the town seems to have deep roots we learn nothing about. Why does the den mother have a lackey other than delivery of dialog? The film has too many characters. The entire thing comes off as if this idea was a season of a TV show that was forced to be a movie instead. As much of a mess as the film is, it kept my attention. The good parts of it are so good that you forgive its awfulness in other regards. Most of The Asylum's films are so bad there is nothing to forgive. At least there are dogs, blood and even some boobies in Little Dead Rotting Hood!

I will try not to spoil too much of the plot, although I am not sure how much that matters with this film. In the small Appalachian town of St. Illwater, Pennsylvania, just a stone's throw from Mildred's 24 hour diner, lives Esmerelda Winfield (Marina Sirtis in a role that screams for Dee Wallace) and her granddaughter Samantha (Bianca A. Santos- see DVD cover). Granny is the protector of the people from wolves, something she passes on to her Samantha to fulfill her destiny...like after she is killed by a wolf in the first scene. The zombie Red Riding Hood comes out of the grave to fight against shape-shifting werewolves because flame throwers and automatic weapons are useless against them...Apparently you need +5 red cloak armor and a +6 wolf sword. This is an Asylum film, which should say it all. Low budget, bad acting, bad script, but somehow pop culturally entertaining as it mixes Zombies, Werewolves, and Little Red Riding Hood in a rather bad fashion making a statement about who are... or not. There were no vampires or Wookies. Hopefully they will combine this film with their Hansel and Gretal series (that explains why no Dee Wallace) to make a super bad, but entertaining film series..."Wolfnado" anyone? Dialogue includes bits and pieces of humor. This film is not for everyone. Just for Asylum bad film fans. F-bomb, sex, nudity ( Ashley Doris- Miss March 2013)

Had little to no expectations with this film and after watching, most didn't meet expectations. There may be some scenes of interests but overall this is justly awful. Weak acting, relatively boring story, bad cgi and some very awful dialogue. The lead actress wasn't bad and was a night spot and there are a few scenes of decent enough violence but otherwise would not recommend.
