Lion Spy

37 people rated Part thriller, part exposé, the dramatic new documentary, LION SPY- has it all. When a young woman who wants to prevent the extinction of wild lions, she decides to create a false identity to portray herself as a "big game photographer" and rather seamlessly infiltrates the male dominated world of trophy hunters in Africa, putting herself at tremendous personal risk. As she explores clandestine operations, alone with men and guns, amidst the isolated African plains she realises if she is found out she will be killed. What she captures on camera literally takes your breath away. With an outcome no one could have imagined, this is a documentary that cannot be missed.

While I don't like killing a lion for example, I cannot agree with this lady. I worked in the wildlife industry and trophy hunting in most cases does indeed fund conservation. The reality is that if the animals cease to exist they cannot be hunted, that is why the money goes back into breeding, breeding to be hunted I suppose. There will always be hunters and there will always be tourists. You will always have both. I for one will not be judged by people who cannot even device what gender they are. Africa is not a poor continent, it is in fact the richest continent. It has aways bee exploited and been run by corrupt people. Fix the corruption and everyone will be happy.

This is a disgrace, nothing more than anti-hunting propaganda, spinning the narrative that money from hunting does not go back into conservation despite the overwhelming evidence that it does. This is a distasteful portrayal of hunting with a story and cinematography engineered to portray a biased and damaging view point. There are no balanced interviews or arguments. This is massively damaging and does a total disservice to everyone in Africa who is successful managing their ecosystem to the benefit of all the wildlife they support. This film/documentary aims at exposing why wild lion populations are declining and not once mentions the undisputed number one threat to wild lions - habitat loss. Shame on all involved.
