Really enjoyed the movie, some great moments of cinema and photography. The acting was believable and the cultural context was perfectly depicted. I found the mother-daughter relationship to be represented very tactfully. I would highly recommend this story about two women fighting for their freedom.
I loved Lingui, it made me feel close to the characters and I found the subject of abortion and female genital mutilation to be important but often missing from cinematic storytelling. Love seeing African women on screen as living criqitues of patriarchal society, and embodying sisterhood, independence and resilience.
