I went to see Like Crazy this weekend, I was expecting a cute, lovely, love story. However, It was not.Felicity Jones' character Anna was not an interesting person. She looks like she just rolls out of bed and slap on eyeliner. She did her hair in a MESSY BUN for her wedding.Anton Yelchin's character Jacob, was a very nice person. I actually felt bad for him because he was stuck with Anna. This Horrific movie started with a café date and ends with a shower. In my opinion, the only living thing that would enjoy this movie is an ape or maybe a spider monkey. The director Drake Doremus, deserves a punch in the face as well do the writers.

I rented this movie with low expectations and the movie didn't even live up to that. Based on the cover, premise, trailer, and marketing campaign, I expected to see some semblance of a modern day romance dealing with the trials of young love and long distance relationships. Most movies make you care about the things that the on screen couple have to go through, but throughout the movie I could only think of how unbelievable this relationship is, and how stupid and unsympathetic the characters are. The basic premise of the movie is boy and girl meet in college, develop a relationship, become so in love with each other that they can't stand to spend a few months apart, girl overstays visa and is unable to come back, and the effect on their relationship that long distance has on them. The movie didn't really demonstrate why they were together at all. The director and cinematographer chose poor camera work and story telling to document their relationship. We get snippets of the same scene, only with different 1 second camera angle changes or minor body movement changes, over and over, as if to document these slices in time of their relationships. It was not helpful at all, merely making glaring obvious the omission of the majority of their relationship. I understand that the director may have been going for showing all other parts of a relationship, not just the love part, but still. The actor and actresses fail to develop any chemistry, their scenes together do not convince me that they should be together with each other. The few normal conversations they have with each other face to face seem to be filled with awkward conversation and just plain awkwardness. Ironically, their sadness at being apart is apparent, but I don't believe them when they are together. All in all, poor directing, lack of chemistry, and unsympathetic characters (stupid decisions, agony over problems that have simple solutions) made this movie practically unwatchable for me.

Don't let it's indie roots fool you. Like Crazy is a nostalgic love story of people who know what they want but don't know how to get it. The acting is superb. Yelchin and Jones have chemistry and they play it across the board. You will smile, laugh, cry, and hold your breath as these two characters waltz in and out of each others' lives. Jennifer Lawrence and Charlie Bewley also deliver great performances. The thing that sets Like Crazy apart is the fact that it doesn't try to be anything than an honest love story. It doesn't play up stereotypes. It doesn't beat out the indie clichés. The dialogue is naturally paced and feels richly authentic. The subtext is dramatic. This film is worth every dollar and dime in my mind. If you get the chance, go see it. Take friends who want to share the fun of a good film. Like Crazy is a fantastic watch and a fresh take on everything you thought you knew about indie romance.

Two Entitlement Generation people meet and supposedly fall in love in two seconds flat. The girl is the nice-but-hot type, but she is lacking in character, personality, or objectives. She does like being kissed a lot, and her equally empty-in-personality willingly takes care of that. I thought he'd get bored with the girl after about 100 kisses, but no, he actually wants to follow her to England for more..... I need to tell you that (1) I LIKE romance movies, and (2) I have had the experience of a relationship separated by thousands of miles; but I could NOT relate to this awful and shallow movie. As shallow as the two lovers are, they only reflect the shallowness of the filmmaker. The movie quickly embraces the music video check list: the walk on the beach, the seagulls, all that; but every single opportunity to develop a scene to pack emotion into the story is flubbed. We just waisted $1.50 and 90 minutes on this mess. Please do not do likewise.

Love is a many-splendored thing according to the song, well based on this film its actually a really annoying thing that should be taken out back and given a good kicking. This film tells the story of Anna (Felicity Jones) an English student in California studying journalism or something who claps eyes on Jacob (Anton Yelchin) in class and they start dating. Oh and by the way he's a furniture designer, that's right a furniture designer and journalist students, you hate them already don't you...no well come the end of he film you will. To get things off to a great start she writes him a little note that she sticks to his car asking him not to think she's crazy, then they go on a date and end back at hers were they write to each other on a piece of paper. And then the clincher there's a bit where they're on opposite sides of a glass door and they touch hands on either side of the glass...Seriously!! So once the relationship is set up, thankfully it's not as clichéd and horrible all the way through, Anna's about to go back to the UK as her visa runs out for the summer but decides to stay to be with him thus invalidating it. So when she pops back to the UK for a wedding and then tries to get back into the US on a tourist visa they send her packing. Honestly, who'd have thought it, the US passport control being strict...derrr! So that's probably the first third of the film done, now for act two the protagonists are on either side of the pond and you know what it's hard to keep a relationship going with 9 odd hours time difference so there's lots of missed calls and both of them looking into the middle distance. Even though both of them stray they obviously hold a candle for the other and there are a few jaunts in London from Jacob but it's not the same as being with Anna full time and they continue to drift apart and then come back together on the memory of that summer etc etc. There's one good scene in the film involving a proposal (I won't say who) and Anna's parents (played rather well by Oliver Muirhead and Alex Kingston) that's genuinely funny and awkward but that's it really. The only other praise I'll give it is that it doesn't bottle the ending and Jennifer Lawrence is gorgeous but has sweet FA to do (seriously about four lines). Other annoyances are that for a furniture designer he appears to have only produced one design for a chair in the three year period of the film and also that despite climbing up the ladder at some Glamour style magazine Anna seems happy to drop that job at a moment's notice (I'm obviously too much of a feminist). Please don't go to watch it to find your own worst moments!

In Los Angeles, the British Anna (Felicity Jones) and her college mate Jacob (Anton Yelchin) fall in love with each other. They graduate and Anna decides to violate the period of her student visa and overstay with her boyfriend. Later she travels back to London and when she tries to return to the USA, her request is denied since she is considered banned from the United States of America. Jacob travels to London to meet her family but he needs to return to his business in Los Angeles. Soon they decide to see other people since they cannot be together and Jacob has a love affair with his employee Samantha (Jennifer Lawrence). But they miss each other and Jacob travels to London and get married with Anna. However, her application is still denied and they are not able to convince the authorities that they married for love and not for granting her return to LA. The situation generates friction in their relationship and Jacob returns to Sam while Anna lives with Simon (Charlie Bewley). Months later, the lawyer tells that Anna can return to the USA, and she leaves Simon and Jacob leaves Sam. Will their relationship be the same after the long period distant to each other? Yesterday I bought "Like Crazy" on DVD because of the name of Jennifer Lawrence, who plays a supporting character and is very beautiful and sexy. I was surprised first by the sweet and gorgeous Felicity Jones, who I did not know, and by the great story and screenplay by the also director Drake Doremus and Ben York Jones. Among my favorite scenes are Anna in the airport in front of the escalator and accepting a new chair in her desk. The smile and face of Felicity Jones in close are also adorable. "Like Crazy" is a travel to the youthfulness, when teenagers fall in love several times and believe that their other half does really exist and love will be kept forever. Anna and Jacob pass through this situation when they meet each other in Los Angeles. However, distance and time seem to change their feelings, but the movie has an open conclusion and leaves to the viewers to guess what might happen to their relationship. My vote is eight. Title (Brazil): "Loucamente Apaixonado" ("Madly in Love")

This movie made no sense, nothing was explained things just happened assuming you knew what was going on. I never really write these but this movie annoyed me enough to do so. The actors in this movie are great but the writing is not. I'm in a long distance relationship and while visiting my girlfriend for vacation we watched it together, and after about 15 minutes we both were about done with it. The time line and story has many gaps, from one scene to another they jump around with very little dialog or explanation. Spoiler: the Last 10 minutes of the movie is what really pushed me over the edge, felicity Jones suddenly breaks up with this Simon guy gets approval to come the states(somewhere she quits her job at a magazine where she just got a raise, in this economy?) at the same time Anton yelchin fires his assistant/girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence, when felicity arrives they go home and immediately are both not happy and then it just ends. The only thing that made this movie sad is I felt bad for Anton's character this girl is a complete witch she's miserable with no personality. Should of stuck with Jen Lawrence much hotter and seemed way cooler in the movie. I'm glad it only cost me 1.29 at a rental box otherwise I would of been really mad about spending 10$ on a ticket. Don't waste your time or $ on this movie and don't believe the positive reviews, poorly paced, slow, confusing, unrealistic.

Like Crazy isn't a perfect film, but it's a refreshingly personal one. Though it has a questionable screenplay and some awkward editing, the genuine emotion in every scene is palpable. Yelchin and Jones give the film their all: their romance is believable yet they bravely portray their flaws as well - perhaps so that we can relate to them better, so we can find ourselves in their mistakes and learn from their downfalls. There are some issues - the editing can be choppy, some lines sound like they came from a 7th grader, and the film isn't nearly as long as it should be. It's hard to be sad about their separation when they're only separated for 5 minutes at a time. In spite of the occasional clunkiness, however, the film works because of the commitment to the characters, the genuine romance, and the tearjerkingly beautiful moments of pure, human emotion.
