Let's be honest, there is no reason what-so-ever that this film should have ever been put into theaters, or DVD, or script, or anywhere a human being could see and thus be forced into a flurry of pain. This was probably the most lazily written film I have ever seen. It is one cheap prison joke after the other. Even then, there is still nothing we haven't seen before in one thousand other bad movies. The characters vary from linear to a single lame joke. Yes, there are some stupid movies that are funny, like Dodgeball or Office Space, but at least they relied on some form of original thought instead of recycling old clichés over and over again. There is ultimately no entertainment value here for anyone who has the mental capacity to blink and walk at the same time. If you see this movie, you're part of the problem.

This movie captures and colorizes the satiric humor of prison and otherwise predictable jail humor in a way that is completely and thankfully watchable.
The story centers around three characters - Will Arnett is stuck in the center, utilizing his patentable 'that guys an a-hole but I'd still have a beer with him' persona and has it very well countered by two great actors whose subtle humor and physical timing really cuts out a sympathetic and f'n hilarious story that you don't want to end when it does. Which is saying a lot for this genre.
Of course there are ridiculous and improbable twists that you forgive because they are so damn fun. Nice touch on the epilogue and the ending credits.
It's good. It's better than good. It's not an art movie - it's not a fart movie - it's not even a combination. But if you've ever gone out of your way to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development or Reno 911 you'll really enjoy it.
Beeyatch.

Speaking of the movie "Let's Go To Prison",the question is that how in the hell did so many talented comedians make this garbage of cinema? This is right up there with the second installment of "Jackass 2",and so many other lame comedians as one of the worst movies of the year. This is directed by and co-starring Bob Odenkirk(of Comedy Central's Mr. Show)and co-written by Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant(also of Comedy Central's Reno 911!)and starring none other than the smarm-tastic and one replusively smart ass Will Arnett, who is better known for his work from the FOX-TV series "Arrested Development". His talent is totally wasted in the piece of junk. However,"Let's Go To Prison" is nothing more than a skit version from either an episode of Saturday Night Live or for that manner a MAD-TV sketch where one of the characters get sent to an "OZ" like prison masquerading as a satirical look at some of the flaws in the penal system. Basically this is a virtual send-up on that HBO series "OZ" and also takes cues from every other prison movie including several references of FOX's "Prison Break" to an extent, even though this film runs under 90 minutes is revolving.
As far as the story goes,in what Arnett's own persona that could be called a close resemblance to another lame actor--David Spade(of Just Shoot Me fame),Dax Shepard plays a three-time loser who gets to seek revenge on a late judge by getting his entitled son(Arnett)sent to the same prison as him. However, the supporting actors which not only include Shepard and Arnett but Chi McBride(whose career has been on a downward spiral turn ever since "Boston Public" went off the air),and Dylan Baker are given some zest to their lines, they are totally wasted here and basically they're doing this for just a paycheck to get through the motions and it shows. The dark humor which includes segments of scenes depicting every prison show or prison movie ever made is in here, but the laughs are hardly getting by. Avoid at all costs.

It was sort of funny at some parts, but many of the main parts could have been expressed in a better, more exciting or less crummy way. I suggest that if you want to see this movie, wait until it comes out in the dollar theatre or a the DVD rental place so you don't waste as much money to see it. I thought that personally, it had two good, worth your money parts, but the rest was kind of washed out. Also, I thought that some of the humor was very, very overdrawn and overused. Who really wants to see a movie with basically no plot? If you do, then this movie is right for you. If you value your time, or don't want your eyes to bleed, then see something else.

Putting this into my DVD player i didn't expect more than a few chuckles but i found myself laughing hysterically rather frequently. While i don't think every joke landed quite as well as Odenkirk would have wanted, the overall product was rather funny. Chi McBride has by far the funniest character in the film since he does fall in love with one of my personal favorites, Will Arnett. Dax Shepherd was surprisingly standable considering i'm really not a fan of his at all. Dylan Baker's "comment in the butt hole" joke i don't think quite made it... or maybe that was the point, so i didn't care much for him. Koechner was as funny as usual and all the stupid quirks of this movie made me laugh. Deep? No. Funny? Yes. What's funnier than a rich inmate struggling with a bunch of people who want to kill him or try to have dirty sex with him? That's funny.

Why all the negative reviews?? Hard to believe soo many of you have bashed this movie. I understand that not all people like this style of a movie. Kinda like Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox story. I loved both.
Being a person who enjoys the bluntness of people like George Carlin I must say this movie is in your face funny! If you expect to see some teenage dukes of Hazzard style film then don't bother. This movie is for people who like adult style laugh your butt off fun. I watch South Park religiously and this is the one movie that makes me laugh the same.
Don't miss all the one liners!! "Trust me - Do what I do - Keep your mouth shut and try not to cry"!

Its a film about how funny male rape is. Its a film about the abuse men have to suffer, whether innocent or guilty, at the hands of the 'Justice' system and.....how funny that is.
This film plays on old stereotypes of what its like in Prison and how humorous it is to be a man locked up in a system that doesn't consider you to be a human being - innocence being no excuse, which is about the only accurate point in the whole film. Though, I pick too much, it is a fictitious, spoof comedy designed to appeal to....to.....someone, I guess.
I wonder if the sequel will be a feature length movie on how funny female rape is. Or is THAT considered to be something that isn't funny. Hmmm....not sure how that would go down as a comedy.
Not sure how this goes down as a comedy, but it certainly sinks knee deep in something.

very funny. if you're a fan of arrested development, you'll enjoy it even more(im a big fan of will arnett). i went to see it and me and my girl were the only ones in the theater. i mean, its awesome when its like that, but thats a shame. this is a good movie that had a good trailer. its okay that this movie has some of the things that you'd expect to see in a prison movie because they take those expectations and produce much better comedy. i hope this movie will turn out to be a success.arnett is great in this, chi mcbride is great, and so is dax sheppard. David koechner also does a great job. all in all, its just a funny movie that should be viewed. C'MON!

After seeing the previews , I thought that it would be hilarious . Boy , was I wrong . There are a few funny scenes , but the funniest bits are shown in the previews . Dax Shephard , from Employee of the Month & Without a Paddle, plays a career criminal that can't stay out of jail . Will Arnett , from RV & Arrested Development-t.v., plays the son of the judge that keeps sending Dax to jail . Dax & Will end up in the same prison cell , after certain circumstances , & the 'hillarity' begins . Chi McBride , from The Nine-t.v. & Boston Public-t.v., plays another prisoner & David Koechner , from Snakes on a Plane & The Dukes of Hazzard-2005 , plays the head prison guard . It's directed by Bob Odenkirk , a writer/comedian from SNL-t.v. & The Larry Saunders Show-t.v. Don't waste your money ; wait until this one comes out on regular t.v. !
