This has got to be one of the worst animated films I've ever seen. The animation was absolutely horrible and quite ugly (even "Toy Story" from 19 years ago has better animation), the songs are horrendous (no "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" here), the storyline is a cheap knock-off of the original story (can't even the proper time era right - Kansas is now mid-2000s for some reason), and the characters are unlikeable. And one more thing: I have a feeling most of the people who write heavily positive reviews are rich idiots who lost $100K each because the film's producer Greg Centineo scammed you all into supporting this fiasco just so he could get rich (most of the movie's $70 million dollar budget is probably in his back pocket right now). Same for the movie's Facebook fans, positive audience feedback on Rotten Tomatoes and Cinemascore, and so on. Admit it: you were cheated the reason the movie failed is because it's terrible, so don't try to save your own skin.

I really dislike this movie. It was one of the rare times when I went to see a movie and had low expectations for it and I left the movie with an even lower opinion of it. In the movie, Dorthy comes back to Oz to rescue her old friends from a new villain with the help of some new friends, but the new friends are not as good as the Scarecrow, the Tin man, and the Lion. they had no depth to them and their purpose was weak. This may have not been a big deal if Dorthy, the main character, wasn't so one-dimensional. The new villain, the Jester had potential, but falls short. I think it had a lot to do with the character design overall, which tried to be creative but had no feel to it. Very strange, it was like the artist were not communicating with the animators I did not like the animation. I thought it was not smooth enough for a movie being released in theaters. I guess the movie got the released because of all the names attached to the project. The movie was able to use the success of Glee's Lea Michelle who played Dorothy to get it out their. I recognized the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Martian Short, but the voice talent that made no sense was Patrick Stewart, who I feel had better things to do than this movie. In a world with plenty of Wizard of Oz Sequel, Prequels, and spin-off this was by far the worse. You and your kids have better things to do.

The cast of this animated feature is GREAT. Of course, this is not another Wizard of Oz. There will probably never be another Wizard of Oz. However, this seems to be a tremendous sequel, prequel, or theequel, to a great movie. If you want to see the Wizard of Oz, you need to watch the Wizard of Oz. Open your minds and expand your horizons and take in some entertainment that was produced in 2013, not 1938 !!! The movie is geared toward the youngest of moviegoers. There's a little something in there for Mom, Dad, and Grandparents, also. This is, without a doubt, going to be a movie that will have a long, long, run in the theaters and will probably live forever in the DVD library of most families across the nation and probably the world.

My family and I just watched the 3-D version and we all had a great time watching it, even though we just watched the 2-D version. I really love the uplifting, positive message this movie delivers. There are scenes that literally brought gasps from the theater and left you feeling great in the end. The 3-D version was very nice. I understand they used a new technology that eliminates the vertigo effect, yet still has a very nice depth of vision. My 29 year old son said it was the best 3-D he had ever seen. (Some types nearly wear you out with all the effect.) I am sure this movie will become a classic bringing joy to millions for years to come. I enjoyed the characters a lot, which included some new ones like Wiser the Owl(Oliver Platt), Tug(Patrick Stewart), Marshall Mallow (Hugh Dancy), China Princess (Megan Hilty), and of course Martin Short who delivers a brilliant performance as the Jester...the villain in this movie. Dorothy is courageous and strong as she faces her challenges head on despite many obstacles; definitely a great role model for kids of all ages. On top of that, there are some fantastic songs in this movie that move and inspire you. Toto is the perfect side kick for Dorothy, spunky and cute. Again, just a lot of fun to watch. Everyone I have spoken with really liked it too. :) Have a blessed day and see you at the movies!

Critics must be being paid off to badmouth this excellent 3D animated movie. It is a heartwarming, excellent family film. Kids of all ages will certainly fall in love with the characters, story and music. I have seen the film at the LA premiere, and again last night locally in NJ. I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time around. My 2 sons ages 17 and 21 enjoyed it as well, showing it not only for small children, but for the whole family. I highly recommend taking the time to see this magical journey to Emerald City and cheer on Dorothy and her friends to save the land from the Jester! The animation, characters, story were top notch.

I have to say...When I told my daughter we are Going to the movies..I wanted to take her to see Rio 2, but she said She'd rather watch Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. I thought i was gonna be In for an hour&a half of boredom and a terrible Computer-Animated Wizard of Oz Movie..but luckily, my daughter made a good choice. When we Entered the movie, we realized nobody else was there, (Not surprising) and that made the kiddo so excited bc She could talk when she wanted to and walk around..This Film kept her interested, and she had a big smile on her face The whole time. It kept a pretty decent pace, had lots Of good action sequences & The animation was Actually much better than I thought it would be, looked somewhat Realistic. Also had a few good laughs&she loved the Musical scenes. I'm a 31 yr old guy..so obviously this Isn't my kind of film..i love computer animated Kids movies but this one doesn't aim any over the head Jokes for adults and comes off as corny to an adult.. but since my Lil one had such a great time, it's a good one. I recommend this as a movie for a family w small children to Watch together or for ages 3+ to watch alone(the action & bad guys May be too intense for some younger kids to watch alone. Overall, much more enjoyable than expected. -Ghandi Bonez

The animation is good, 3-D awesome, music excellent. story line great, and good clean humor. Don't be scared by the PG rating…It's unwarranted in my opinion..Very family friendly across the board for young kids. You can look at the write up on Plugged In. Your kids will love the movie between the ages of 5 and 12, and especially your girls. They have an amazing line up character voices(Lea Michelle - Dorothy, Dan Akyroyd - Scarecrow, Jim Belushi - Lion, Kelsey Grammar - Tin Man, Martin Short(Jester - new character - Villain), Megan Hilty - China Princess(new character), Hugh Dancy - Marshall Mallow(new character), Bernadette Peters(Glenda, starred in Wicked on Broadway), Patrick Stewart(Tug). Music is by Bryan Adams. Disregard the low critic ratings on Rotten Tomatoes…My guess is many of them have liberal views and no kids based on the ridiculous write-ups. It's a good fun clean movie. No potty humor like in Shrek or Despicable Me…It's in about 2700 theaters nationwide and on more than 3000 screens. A must see!!!!

This is a really fun movie that both kids and adults can enjoy. Most of the critics out there must not have watched the same movie I did, as much of what they are saying is simply untrue or hyped on the negative. The animation could be a little better on the human character movements, but it hardly detracts from the movie, and the animation is splendid and vibrant once the story is back in Oz. I would give this movie about an 8/10. I've already seen it multiple times and still enjoy it. My 2-year-old loves the music, especially the "Work With Me" song (although the movie itself is really for older kids). The music totally gets stuck in your head! I highly recommend that everyone see this movie at least once. Forget the critics and give it a try. Remember, there is just a little "weirdness" that goes with Oz, as with many stories set in fantasy worlds, but it's fun! When you consider that this movie is not Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks, it is actually that much more impressive. I say look for great things to come from this new franchise and the producers at Summertime Media!
