I have become absolutely convinced that the majority of "reviews" written about vapid, inane films such as this are written by cronies of the studios themselves. Three words: Avoid. This. Movie. Avoid this movie like it has a new disease that can transfer a steady stream of dull stupid directly to your brain which you will then pass onto your descendants through your DNA which will completely obliterate your family tree in fork-in-socket accidents and the occasional forgetting-to-breathe incidents. Special effects are no excuse for "special" acting and "special" writing. If a friend asks you to see this movie...RUN! They are no friend of yours and only wish to see you harm and ill will.

I'll be brief in saying that this movie is pretty bad, like cringe worthy.You were expecting bad ass sword fights but you get cheap choreography and CGI effects. There's no chemistry between the actors in the movie and even if there was, the acting is so over the top it takes you out of the picture. Kate Bosworth's character is a thirty something playing a twenty something who acts like she's 13 the whole movie. Geoffrey Rush drinks the whole movie, belches and stumbles around for comedic effect, even passing out with his bare ass showing. That might make me laugh if I were ten years old. The Western villain is so poorly acted and written, you think a scorned man wouldn't be such lame cartoon villain. I couldn't even finish it.

This is one of the worst ninja movie I ever watched. The fight scenes are lame!!! There's no real use of martial arts in any of the fighting scenes but just lame asses jumping around on the screen. The only good thing about this movie is Kate Bosworth, she's gorgeous. Other than that, most of the actors can't act for squat!!! As for the story line, it seems like the movie was written by a five year old child. This movie is not worth watching at all, because it is a bore! What happened to all the good martial art movies that actually use real martial arts? like Fist of Legend? They need to stop making all these martial art movies with nothing but special effects.

The story really makes no sense. First you have an army of ninja going after a master ninja who spared the last surviving member of a enemy clan....A baby girl. Then you have a town filled with circus people who loved to wear performance garb and outfits even though they are not performing. This is a one horse town absent the horse yet it is a target for a murdering army of outlaws....Why? The leader is a horn dog looking for some fresh meat.... There's much more to the total story, and there's great visuals, but over all it's just kind of fun...In a bloody and mega violent sort of way. As long as you keep in mind it's no more realistic than ninjas flying....It can be fun.

This movie was so freaking bad it's not even funny. It's not even bad in an amusing way. It's just like watching something stupid until you get really tired of the bad green screen/CGI laced sets and scenery; atrocious acting; bad script(story & dialog); just . . . BAD! I'm still stunned as to how this hunk of junk has a 6.3 rating on IMDb, except to say that obviously some studio sabotage and lame people thinking that "no matter what, if it's Asian cinema, it has to be good!" have come in here to boost the ratings on this. It really is that cheesy and horribly directed of a movie. I would give it a zero if that was an option.

If I am to use one word to describe this movie it would be A W E S O M E! Everything from choreography to music is absolutely excellent and the game grips you from the beginning to the end with an absolutely fitting ending. The story is at glance not so original with a super-assassin not wanting to finish his last job so he flees instead but it will later join with another story about vengeance which flows together nicely. So I will highly recommend this to anyone who like tasteful action movie instead of the tasteless slaughter which Kill Bill was. This is much, much better.
