This is the story of highly self-absorbed flight attendant Larry Gaye, a name which is certainly designed for obvious word pun. Most of the comedies are crude uncomfortably sexual innuendo in shameless fashion, the vain larger than life persona doesn't really take off in this regard. The exhausting tired jokes aside, it does deliver several good moments with witty awareness and fourth wall breaking quips, the few nods to Airplane! are also nicely done.
There's not much plot to be had. Larry Gaye is made from bits of choppy drama and aviator humor, both of which present barely adequate material in sporadic manner. The way it presents its humor is relentless, so if one particular scene doesn't work, the excessive effort is wasted and the film can be tedious. Unfortunately, this involves repetitive sensual undertone and the Gaye jokes can be tiresome after a few jabs.
It is when its best when Larry self-deprecates himself in mainly clueless manner or the film mocks on its own silly plot with an ironic seriousness. The tongue in cheek approach works with the help of the diverse actors who are experienced in the genre. Several scenes at latter half fare better as it deal with relatable and light banters instead on forcing the flamboyant aspect too much.
There are a few good chuckles underneath the turbulence of painfully narcissistic jokes and nasty sexual innuendos for a light popcorn flick.

The Michael Jackson impersonator near the end of the movie. That's the only reason I gave it a 10.

Too many popular names in this movie for it not to be funny. Disappointing. This is the type of movie you see in the beginning of actors careers, not after they become household names.

This is a great movie to watch if you're not sober. Somewhat reminiscent of early 2000s comedies and Mark Feuerstein shows a his comedic abilities despite mostly not being a comedy actor. I found this movie to be hilarious. Was the plot great? No, it was silly, but in a good way. Here's the best way to put it: if you are the type of person who wants to sit down and watch some serious movie like The Departed or The Martian, you'll hate this, but if you want to sit down and watch something that's the best kind of stupid humor that we all at least somewhat enjoy, you'll enjoy watching this movie. Not all of the jokes are tasteful, but this isn't supposed to be some serious film looking for an Oscar, it was made to be funny and that's exactly what it is, a funny movie that you don't have to pay full attention to to enjoy. Totally worth watching if you want to watch something just to laugh. It's the definition of a late night comedy.

Cuz I laughed my buttocks off. This is just a funny, stupid movie. Wish there were more like this. Disengage your brain clutch, sit back, relax, and laugh. It's as if Airplane and the Three Stooges had a love child.
Be forewarned, this movie is horribly non-PC in places. If you're a professional victim, you may want to find something else to watch.
On a side note, this movie got SOME of the aviation technical details right. I'm an airline mechanic and was impressed they used Weber coffee makers. Other details were way off, but at least some bits were spot on.

There are but a few laugh-out-loud moments, but, there are several good jokes and many OK ones. It's fun most of the time. Sure, most of the fun and jokes is juvenile and based on people being dumb or simply acting dumb. But, still, it works.
I don't get the comparison to Airplane! - sure, Julie Hagerty has a cameo and the finale is on a plane that is on a crash course, but, it's not to make a connection, it's just another gag. This is not meant to be a remake or a sequel. Yes, it's not as good as Airplane! - but, that's kind of an unfair comparison, that was a great comedy.
Acting is pretty decent, Rebecca Romijn has the best role in years as the robot stewardess (it's small, but, it's a great match for her past-her-prime looks and acting skill-set).
So, if you're just up for some fun and jokes, this is worth a watch. If you're looking for something at the level of Airplane! - keep looking.

It loses a couple points as it's mildly insulting to cabin crew suggesting we're only there to serve food, however it was a funny movie and definitely worth a watch. It's slapstick kind of humour so yeah it's immature. If you liked naked gun this is similar.

Really funny, caught me off guard. A funny sense of humour. I rewatched it the same day. Its one you can rewatch. They're the good ones.

The entire movie I was on the edge of turning it off and walking away. I didn't, it had just enough to keep going 'another ten seconds' but by the end, wished I had.
