It's funny cause it's true. We aren't suppose to talk about these subjects because it might offend the sensitive, nor is it politically correct. Irregardless (hehe), if you aren't easily offended and you have opinions oposite what the mainstream tells you is acceptable these days, you'll probably enjoy this. I've never watched King of Queens, but I will now because I am a Kevin James fan now. He is real, and authentic, not edited and safe (to look good) but on the other hand he doesn't use gross shock value humor I absolutely hate that. Great job Kevin James, if you came to town I'd buy tickets for the live show.

I've always loved sitcoms, and King of Queens is a personal favourite. It has been ever since I first watched it so many years ago. In fact, I still watch reruns regularly, and sometimes fall asleep with it on. It, or other sitcoms.
I even enjoyed a couple of Kevin James' movies.
This is why, when Amazon Prime recommended this comedy special to me I watched it right away. I'd never heard about it before, and was excited to watch it.
Well, that was all for naught.
I expected to laugh a lot, but I maybe laughed once during the entire hour or so. It didn't seem like the crowd even laughed much, yet they gave him a standing ovation? I don't know why, because this wasn't funny. It also wasn't original at all.
If you're looking for 'jokes' about not trusting doctors, how kids should still be beaten with belts and how much his wife talks then this is for you. How about how bad video games are and how soft kids are these days? Those old, unoriginal, uninteresting and unfunny staples are all here. It's like a time machine!
This was honestly one of the worst sets of 'comedy' I've ever seen. It also surprised me, because I thought Kevin James was better than this. Well, more original and less of an old curmudgeon from the 80s.

I thought this was great, really enjoyed seeing Kevin James doing Standup again after so many years. I think the last one I saw was "Sweat the Small Stuff" and I loved that. Interesting that this was presented as a Series format as "Episode 1", so curious to know what the following content is supposed to be like, more standup or something in sketch format? Either way I'm interested and will look for the next release. I've watched a bit of his sitcom and he's good in that, but I am not really much of a fan of the show, what I saw of it is really good but never really went out of my way to watch it. So I'm happy to see he put this out because I've liked a handful of his movies but always remembered I liked him best in his standup routines. He's got a style that's uniquely him, it's a very illustrative expressive approach that a few comedians have done in the past, he picked out a good deal of perfectly relatable material that worked for me. And he's very close to my generation so I get a lot of his material. He got a good deal of laughs out of me and boy has that been a long time since it's happened watching a standup routine, so big gratitude for him putting this out there.

I will preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of stand up. I like some of them but others I feel are trying way too hard. Like this one. I liked KOQ and when I saw Kevin had a special I decided to give it a whirl. When he was coming out and started rolling around on the floor I had a feeling this wasn't going to end well. It's just not very funny. I also think it's way too athletic with all the jumping around and frantically gesturing while making annoying sound effects. I'm sure plenty of people enjoy that kind of humor, but I guess I'm not one of them. He really lost me when he started talking about ripping the faces off of wild animals and eating it. I personally would much rather hear f-bombs than stuff like that. Yesterday I watched Gary Gulman's new special on Max and thought it was really funny so I'm not completely dead inside and do have a sense of humor. Just not for this.

I'm sorry if you've been desensitized to the rest of the world by all the free-site Porn and CNN you watch. Kevin James is great. It's not the holy grail of comedy or anything, no. Since when do we have such high expectations? Were you truly not the least bit entertained? If not, I would suggest writing a review about something you felt passionate about, instead of filling your time on Earth dogging on material you don't care for. Talk about wasting time, you're writing a review. That doesn't make you a movie critic. As for Kevin, it almost feels like he might have a King of Queens revival in him similar to Kelsey Grammer (Frasier). If it were done right and done soon. I feel like the world currently lacks this style of comedy/stand up. I wouldn't call it slapstick, but he definitely gets into it. Worth the watch.

Kevin James seems to be joining the ranks of old Gen-X comics ranting about the "good ol' days", a la recent Chris Rock, Jo Koy, Dave Chapelle, where we beat our kids, just expected them to know how to be adults, and dunked on our spouses. There was nothing special about this special - it was a throwback of the worst kind. Rants about participation trophies, not physically punishing our children, how things were so much better in the 1970's, and his how his wife "talks too much". Unfunny, unenlightened, and a huge miss for a comic who has been topical and funny over the years. Please, see yourself out and let some fresh talent take over.

Not your traditional standup routine, which makes it very special and very unique. Definitely my favorite, Kevin James special. Really enjoyed getting in the mind of Kevin as he walks you through hilarious truths. The whole special is like Kevin telling stories about his life while he's having a conversation with you and a few other friends. You can tell that Kevin is more than just somebody who's going to make you laugh. He's somebody who is a really enjoyable person and figure and celebrity. Even at the very end, you realize he's a man of the people after his special with the love, that people surrounded him with. A great, clean comedy special that is funny and extremely enjoyable. Looking forward to the next one! I've already watched this one twice and I definitely would watch it again.

Let's get right to it: I've never enjoyed comics who spend an inordinate amount of time making fun of their wives... and I'm a guy. It's just not classy. So that cost him 3 stars right off the top.
Following that... if you are looking to watch an entire hour of complaining, boy is this the comic for you. Because that's pretty much what he does all the way through.
Now mind you, once in a while he comes up with a kinda funny line.
Once in a while.
Most of the time found me sitting here looking at my watch to see how much longer this routine is going to last, because although his language is clean (KUDOS!) and the subjects are original and his timing is good... he's just not that funny. I didn't laugh out loud once. About the most he got was a mild chuckle. An hour of time burned.

I don't get the bad reviews. He is a funny guy. I'm not his biggest fan... I'm even liberal. Still this was just entertaining, insightful, and so genuine. I don't laugh out loud often. I laughed out loud, watching this alone, a few times. I am a lot like his wife who talks too much. Haha. So as well as being totally entertaining, this gave me some insight into how former male companions might have viewed my habit of talking too much. Very helpful!
Can't remember the last time I had so much fun watching a standup comedian. I hope people don't let the poor ratings stop them from giving this a chance.

I am amazed how this mess passes for comedy. I liked "King of Queens" too, and i have nothing against Mr. James, but this was just plain awful. The "jokes" go nowhere, and they drag on forever. This guy is just not funny, and there is no excuse for it. He has been around a long time. He should have hired a joke writer and a coach, but it seems he's just resting on his laurels. The people in the live audience seemed to think every word was hilarious though. I guess his fans would like anything he does. I am more objective. I judge each movie and performance on its merit, not whether or not i am a fan of the person doing it. Most people are the opposite. They are binary-minded. We see this same effect in politics. People decide to back a certain politician, and WHATEVER that politician does, they AUTOMATICALLY support.
