The reincarnation-revenge formula might be dated and seemed good if restricted to Subhash Ghai's cult classic KARZ(1980). But Rakesh Roshan being the craftsman of action-dramas he's been all these years utilised the limitations to optimum effect. In regards to performances, Rakhee Gulzar was, well Rakhee Gulzar. Amrish Puri and Ranjeet prove it effortlessly why they're the most feared and revered villains in Bollywood history. The comic duo of Ashok Saraf and Johnny Lever was indeed effective. Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni don't get much screen time as such. The marquee of this movie is that it remains Shahrukh and Salman Khan's only film till date. While the former had established himself as an actor of note with his resume reading KABHI HAA KABHI NAA, DARR and BAAZIGAR, Salman was considered more of a mass entertainer, although he had received acclaim for MAINE PYAR KIYA, BAAGHI and PATTHAR KE PHOOL. But this movie belonged to him start to finish, call it toughness which came a bit more naturally to him and was visible in non-action scenes as well. In all the movie is a one time watch.

This film was absolutely brilliant The real reasons why the film was a blockbuster was because of the music, action scenes and chemistry of the two Khans The film has Salman and Shah Rukh as two brothers killed by Amrish Puri Their mother Raakhee prays at a Kali Temple and the brothers are reborn in separate and later surface to kill Amrish Puri The film has several references to KARZ (1980) like the hero being reincarnated, a mother who pines for her son, the villain that becomes really rich after the death of the hero, a Kali temple, the hero getting hallucinations, etc The direction by Rakesh Roshan is brilliantly and leaves no piece left behind Surprisingly his son Hrithik Roshan also helped with the film as the assistant director Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were paired for the first time and play their roles absolutely brilliantly and both of them share amazing chemistry together Mamta Kulkarni and Kajol ably support them and both of them are quite beautiful Amrish Puri is a menacing villain Raakhee is awesome Johny Lever is funny Ashok Saraf rocks all the way

Reincarnation is the one word which can be used to describe Karan Arjun, a film which can easily be a fun watch for the entire family. It is about two brothers who are killed and their mother who expects to see them again for some reason and desperately prays for the day they come back. And her prayers get paid off when her children are reborn in different parts of the country and grow up looking the same as her dead kids. The film has some heartbreaking feel about it, but as a film, it is a bit overdone, melodramatic and cheesy. Yet, it never takes itself too seriously, so it somehow works despite being blown out of proportions. The film may particularly appeal to children - heroes and villains, fights and races, dialogue which does not have much sense, very caricaturish characters. Despite that, there are some emotions that somehow work for others, so I would call it a children's film which may appeal to the rest of the family. Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan work very well together and give the film a certain appeal not warranted by the script. Salman is restrained as never before and Shahrukh is carefree and positive. Raakhee does well as the suffering mom and the moment of unity is such a familiar tear-causing scene that nothing else matters. Mamta and Kajol are hardly there, particularly Kajol, who is invisible. Rajesh Roshan's music is as always amazing, with "Yeh Bandhan" leading the list. All in all, go and try this wholesome Bollywood entertainment.

I still remember the first time I watched this movie back in 1995. I was almost hypnotized during the movie. Dialogues like "Mamta Ka Karz" and "Inteqam Ki Aag" may sound cheesy in today's time, but these were pretty common those days and who better than Shahrukh and Salman to mouth those lines. Salman did his tough guy role with élan. Shahrukh though physically unsuitable to play that kind of role didn't do bad either. Kajol may be remembered as an actress of substance today but this movie showed her and Mamta Kulkarni, both as mere showpieces, a trait of 90s. Amrish Puri did another of those evil Thakur kind of roles, that he could even played in his sleep. However the soul of the movie is Rakhi Gulzar, every time she mouthed that unforgettable "Mere Bete Aayenge, Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge" line, I used to find myself almost in tears. Music was average, but "Jaati Hun Main, Jaldi Hai Kya" became a chart-buster and was like Kajol's own "Dhak Dhak".Not to forget "Mujhko Ranaji Maaf Karna", which was one of the most talked about songs after "Choli Ke Peeche". Bravura performances, hit songs, high emotional melodrama and above all Rakhi's spirited performance made this movie a cult. Not to miss if you have been bored of NRI characters roaming in Mercedes and dancing in exotic locales and want to see some real Bollywood extravaganza. Karan Arjun- 1995 Director: Rakesh Roshan The performances are top! Music is good! Emotions are high and the direction is superb! If you are bored of boy meets girl stories, political stories or typical murder thrillers, then watch Karan Arjun! You will see Salman Khan in a mind blowing character, done superbly well! SRK does his role with confidence as well! Amrish Puri is of course outstanding as a villain! And last but not the least, Rakhee Gulzar leaves a great mark as a mother! I wish they would remake this movie with better effects and the camera quality being higher! Thumbs up!

I saw this movie by chance one day on tv, luckily for me there were subtitles. ;) I thought it was great but most of this feeling could be put down to the fact that I've always been a sucker for this type of movie. (Ummm ... I'd say what type but this is the first time I'm commenting and am not sure if it'd count as a spoiler or not. :P) I thought Salman Khan did an excellent job as the brooding Karan and Shah Rukh Khan (Arjun) was his usual energetic self. Salman and Shah Rukh click very well on screen together and have almost what I would call 'on-screen chemistry' - in a brotherly way of course. I dont remember much of the music so I guess it wasnt particularly good, but the first song "Yeh Bandan" (I think that's what it was called) was *excellent*. The picturisation of this song was *very* sweet, very touching. Major criticisms would be ... the female leads wardrobes! (lol) And some rather fake looking special effects, lightning bolts and the like. Karan Arjun is not flashy or overdone, not over-glammed, just sincere. Its goes down as one of my all-time favourites. Over-all, a great movie.

Here Salman perform very well. Other than his all other movies. Shahrukh can not show his skill due to the script. His role was minor than Salman. Thus Salman got more emphasize, and he make it worth. Shahrukh has a good song here, good romance with Kajol. Though rebirth is not a thing a believe but the revenge motive I liked in this movie. Overall a good one.
