Dreamworks has done it again. Joseph is just as triumphant as The Prince of Egypt. The animation is just as spactacular, and it's accuracy is VERY close. A great bible story lesson for the children and family to enjoy over and over again. Great music, an animated epic. Why this one didn't hit theators in America is the biggest mystery. The biggest shame is that no one has heard of this one, it is a real "FIND."

The music is good but a bit intrusive in places, and honestly a little didactic in the morality it expresses--these days though, as language continues changing and not as many people readily grasp metaphorical and allusive lyrics, that's probably a good thing.
Definitely true to the Scriptural narrative with minor stylistic embellishments.
The animation is a true pleasure, especially the dream sequences (would have been nice to see more of those, but in terms of Biblical accuracy neither relevant nor appropriate).

Wonderful and moving cartoon that deals with a very humble and simple biblical story and gives it a wonderful grandeur. Profound and entertaining film that conveys a truly wonderful moral and does so in a sweet and innovative way.

I like this film a little more than the Prince of Egypt. The story is more sure footed. The songs seem to work better as a set. The animation-while clearly impacted by the budget-is more emotionally involving; the spectacle of the other film could be a little much. Maybe Dreamworks felt there wasn't a market for the film but this is the more engaging work. I even really liked Affleck as Joseph.
