I saw this film today with my wife and two year old,who absolutely loves these little talking vegetables.I must confess to loving them also,as they truly bring out the kid in me.Veggie Tales brings forth just the type of messages our kids need to hear in this day and age, because these are times when many children are being subjected to things that their minds are not ready to take on.Thank God we have someone out there who still cares about our children, and what their little minds take on.My two year old son gives this film a high thumbs up.As for me,and I'm sure many other adults out there,it is indeed a refreshing break from the profanity laden killfests that we are used to seeing.I applaud the people behind Veggie Tales and their efforts to send our kids good messages, and if any of them are reading this, here is my plea:"Please never go away!" On behalf of my family,I thank you!

I caught this movie while flipping through channels on local television in Houston and couldn't turn it off. I had never seen any VeggieTales before this and it blew me away. The talent it took to make this story witty, touching, and engaging all at the same time is obvious. Not only that, but the music and songs are excellent! Seriously...I don't mean they are excellent in some snobby religious way but actually catchy and fun. Maybe I'm a weirdo...actually, I know I am...but I had to get up and sing and dance while the choir sang inside the whale. Yes, I am 31 years old and I was dancing to a cartoon...alone.
I know it isn't popular to say anything like this, but I am going to say it. I really and truly felt the anointing of the Lord on this movie.
My future kids WILL be watching this flick.
PS - one of the best parts is the credits song after the movie ;)

Given that this movie is a VeggieTales enterprise of course the kids are going to eat it up. The real challenge for the film makers was to make the movie enjoyable for the parents. "Jonah" comes so close to accomplishing this for 100% of the movie. The strength of the VeggieTales series has always been the songs. "Oh Where is my Hairbrush?" ring a bell. "Jonah" does have its fair share of songs, but I felt that there were too many long gaps in between some of the musical numbers. It didn't help that most of this time was spent listening to Jonah whine. Get rid of Jonah's whining and add in a few more songs and this movie would have been perfect for all ages. As it stands however, "Jonah" teaches a strong lesson to children in an enjoyable way. Can't argue with that.

As a movie it's alright for little kids if you can get past the religious stuff, but as a VeggieTales video, it's up there with Lord of the Beans as the best of the best in which the series has to offer. Just give it a watch, you won't be disappointed.

... you'll love it! Lots of insolent humour, good songs (a great Gospel number, for instance, and "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything"), and a moral -- a little broadly spread, but not unpalpable.
It's sort of nice to have God in a movie without his name being taken "in vain." Nice change from the sort of movie I prefer.
And my kids loved it.
I hope this gets a wider distribution before its video release.
