I really couldn't make it through this unfunny, non scary comedy horror film. One of two films I actually shut off in recent memory (other being the horrible Burt Wonderstone) Then again, doubt I am in the demographic and was not lighting a bong every 30 minutes. What I can say, is that the sloppy jump cuts, the inaccuracies of camera angles with character interaction and the HORRIBLE acting makes this one of the few 1's I have ever given out to a movie. You can show closeup of vomit...but can't have an actor show consistency in different shots. The bad acting is apparent from having Paul Giamatti in the film. Giamatti is a good actor, yet he shines in this and using him as the measuring tool, one can see the two male leads as very community theater-ish. If you like 'stoner films' I would assume you'll love this, if you are looking for something unique, this isn't it

Phantasm director Don Coscarelli, brings David Wong's novel of the same name (about a new designer drug called Soy Sauce) to the big screen, and it's every bit as mind blowingly insane as you would imagine. Users experience out of body experiences, and drift across time and dimensions, the side effect being that some who come back are no longer human. When a silent otherworldly invasion threatens the existence of mankind it is up to a pair of slackers called Dave and John (Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes) to step in and save the day. Principal photography began in October 2010, and by January 2011, the project had entered post-production for a planned theatrical 2013 release (it premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival). The cast includes Paul Giamatti (who was also an executive producer), Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman, Daniel Roebuck, and Doug Jones. Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man from Phantasm) makes a brief appearance as a priest.

A new drug is discovered that can connect reality with the spirit world in this humorous "horror" adventure film. Amusing and absolutely absurd this is definitely worth watching.

If you are familiar with Phantasm then you might have an idea about what to expect. A unique and strange story this one is. Lots of gore, weirdness and humor. Not for everyone but it you wont forget it.

...occasioned by an infusion of spiked soy sauce, and you should probably be on the sauce too, or worse, to fully appreciate yet another YA fantastical journey flick ("Billy Pilgrim" is the best). I'm probably too old, but the narrator, Dave's (Chase Williamson) hurried monotone verbosity gave me a headache and made it difficult to sort out the rather sparse jokes that were occluded there. Much better are sight gags, with stupid looking cgi creepy crawlies all over, a meat monster, an amputee (Fabianne Therese) with a very serious case of phantom limb sensation, a wigger-(Jonny Weston) led chase thru a haunted abandoned mall. A coeducationally boobied mixed party of mute alien welcoming well-wishers, a telepathic hero dog, and Paul Giamatti and Glynn Turman playing the same person/entity, both without either's corresponding make-up, among others. Get sauced and ride along. The title does not give away the end.

A-Z Horror Movie of the Day..."John Dies at the End" (R - 2012 - US) Sub-Genre: Gore/Comedy My Score: 6.9 Cast=7 Acting=7 Plot=5 Ending=9 Story=7 Scare=4 Jump=7 F/X=6 Gore=9 Funny=8 A new street drug that sends its users across time and dimensions has one drawback: some people return as no longer human. Can two college dropouts save humankind from this silent, otherworldly invasion? "Do you ever wonder why you sometimes see a single shoe lying alongside the road?" There are a lot of elements in this movie...I could easily call this a Sci-Fi movie, too. It's extremely busy, but I liked this quite a bit!! I could right a book about this movie and I wouldn't cover everything that's in it. I'm just going to recommend you give it a look, but you might watch it again in the next 24 hours.

Some of the most random scenes I've ever seen. Based on the book of the same name by David Wong, this is a cross-dimension story about 2 college drop-outs trying to save to world. Having not read the book most of the time I was going "whaa...?" and before I could finish the thought some other outrageous/hilarious thing happened. The style of the film is very comic bookish in that most scenes are very outlandish and pop in and out of the shot. I found it interesting and it's made me want to read the book. If you want to be taken on a completely random adventure which ends with more questions than answers, have a watch. If not, you probably won't lose any sleep over it.

I'll start by saying I haven't read the book, but I haven't enjoyed a movie like this in a while. It felt like a cross between Donnie Darko and Dude Where's My Car. As crazy as that sounds, it works. It pleases the thinking brain while not failing to appease the 17- year-old in all of us. If you want to be asked to flex your brain and still be able to laugh at sophomoric humor, than you will probably enjoy this movie too. Its the kind of movie that you will probably either love or hate. It is an instant cult classic! This movie is not safe for children.

This movie is so bad that while watching it, I remembered I already watched it before. So this is a very forgettable bore. Judging by the plot, this should be a comedy but it is directed as if it is a serious horror film, while wacky poly plot points are being fished out of nowhere. Skip it.
