I think it's funny when he refers to himself as a comedian. He was in comedy, but that's not what made him famous. If he had just stuck with comedy, no one would know his name.
Sorry Joe,
You're just a podcaster.

I don't know why there's so many one star reviews on here. It's obviously not the best stand up show ever made, but it's no a one star show either.
If you liked the other Rogan specials, then I think you'll like this one too.
Yes, I think it would be better if he didn't shout all the time. But that's just he's style, and if you've ever seen him before you know this. The material is decent, and you can tell he loves being on stage. Nothing here will stand out as being exceptionally funny, but nothing falls through either. Just an easy laugh and a good time.
My guess is that because of his podcast, people either love him or hate him.

Joe Rogan's new standup special "Burn the Boats" is absolutely hilarious! I've been a fan of Joe for years, and it's incredible to see how much he's grown as a comedian. Owning a comedy club has really honed his craft, and it shows in this special. Rogan fearlessly tackles controversial topics, proving he can navigate sensitive subjects with sharp wit and insight. It was even more impressive that this special was performed live, showcasing his exceptional stage presence and quick thinking. The choice of orange for the special added a unique visual flair, making it memorable. Don't listen to the haters - Joe always gets flack, but he's the GOAT. If you need a good laugh and appreciate bold, thought-provoking comedy, you won't be disappointed with "Burn the Boats."

This performance by Joe demonstrated that it's not always what you say, but how you say it. And if you can be authentic (without fear of judgment) while delivering a punch line about touchy subjects, you are a true comedian. I give 8/10 because it takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of a crowd and do a show like this. Not all of the jokes are going to be funny. And some of the subject matter will probably be offensive to some. But if you're one of those people who takes everything seriously, then you have some work to do on your self. Interpretation is everything. Freedom of speech is sacred.

Joe Rogan's latest standup special disappoints with recycled jokes and worn-out tropes. His COVID-19 material is unoriginal, essentially rehashing an Elon Musk meme. Rogan's attempts at controversial humor, like his trans joke, fall flat, relying on outdated stereotypes. His delivery is lackluster, marked by complacency. Rather than acknowledging his material's failings, Rogan blames audience sensitivity. The special showcases his inability to evolve as a comedian, clinging to relevance through lazy, hackneyed content. Overall, it's a mediocre performance that highlights Rogan's limitations, leaving audiences unimpressed and questioning his comedic abilities.

IMO, there was a lot of good things in this short 1 hour act. For reference, I have probably listened to 6-10 episodes of his podcast.
Overall I am glad to have watched it, and dont regret the time. Though the act itself may be considered to be not completely comedy centric. I feel like this act was meant to be informative, enjoyable, educational, clearing, curiosity building...
It feels like it could have used more work, been longer, more could have made more of the ground that was covered if it was continued.
I think this act belongs on Youtube, as it does a lot of good, it is good it exists.
Perhaps you can tell comedy is not quite calibrated when it is getting massive amounts of 1 stars, as is the case with the set, but it means it at least presses buttons, as giving it 1 star is infantile.

Tired, lame, hack stuff we've heard before, including a joke he did in his 2009 special that is exactly the same as before, and featuring awkward quiet lulls where you can tell he was expecting big laughs, and some pretty sad examples of pandering for cheap applause, but no real funniness to be found. It's such a rehash and, of course, the cancel culture stuff that is just so incredibly lame at this point, we realized quite a while ago that comedians that have been so-called cancelled for something they've said have only become more popular and had their careers helped immensely by it. A great example of this is the brilliant and hilarious Shane Gillis, another is Tony Hinchcliffe, it's become a pretty regular thing that factors greatly in terms of the popularity and success of many good and bad comedians ... and the biggest example of all ... is Joe. But he's still talking about it as if it's this big threat that he's crusading against... a rebellious hero fighting for free speech ... No, not even close. In reality, what we're watching is a retread of already used up lame material being presented in a way that seems to insist on it being funny when it isn't, I've really never seen delivery and timing like this ... pauses for laughter that isn't there, it's hard to describe how awkward it gets at times. And the pandering is just so obvious and puts a level of tackiness on top of everything else. Just sad, and it's really so much better to watch the podcast for real laughs ... usually more of an "at him" than "with him" situation, but laughs are laughs.

This is honestly not a review bomb, I just did not enjoy any part of the show. Old and predictable jokes that were dated in 2019, let alone in 2024. And I'm just not one of those people who think yelling into the microphone and making faces alone is funny. I barely smirked one time with the Bert Kreischer joke.
Rogan uses a significant time to defend his controversies and set the record straight about some clickbait misleading news articles, not even in an entertaining way, which is just not what I want to see in a show that's supposed to me laugh.
He tries too hard to be edgy and controversial, but he fails even that miserably. You're not edgy, Joe, you're just pandering to people who share your political views in a deeply unfunny manner.

Wow, I almost feel bad for him, he sometimes looked genuinely confused why nobody was laughing. Why would he release this? He's just not a good comedian. There aren't really any jokes, more like rants and where he is trying too hard. I'm not sure what he was trying to do, but I know it wasn't "comedy". I honestly feel like I could come up with better jokes or more creative concepts than he did. I feel like he was trying to imitate parts of Bill Burr's bits on the "Me too" movement, but instead of funny observations or jokes, he was relying on his scream to make us laugh?
"You don't look good Joe" is an understatement here. The whole thing makes him look weird.

Boring, repetitive, tired, lame, hack stuff we've heard before, including a joke he did in his 2009 special that is exactly the same as before, and featuring awkward quiet lulls where you can tell he was expecting big laughs, and some pretty sad examples of pandering for cheap applause, but no real funniness to be found. It is ironic that while Joe has ceased to be funny on stage, there's frequently lots of hilarious stuff on his podcast... when he has great comedians as guests ...and, most of all, when he has serious guests on to talk about the serious issues... now that's comedy. Guaranteed incredibly funny stuff. If you've just watched this unfunny special and now you want some genuine laughs, check out his recent podcast with guest author Michael Malice. Joe confidently says that it was found out that Biden's State Of The Union address was not live but pre-taped. Malice asks Joe how this could possibly be true, because it's in a huge room full of republicans that would never agree to be in on that. Joe still insists it's true until they find it debunked online. Just one recent example of the very frequent unintentional comedy on the podcast ... it will truly make you laugh, unlike this special, which will not.
