When holiday fanatic Addie (Cindy Sampson) makes a Christmas wish for her next door neighbor Sam (Robin Dunne) to fall in love with her, she's not expecting anything to happen - and she definitely isn't expecting the wish to go awry and cause her other neighbor, Pete (Chris Violette) to fall in love instead. When Pete's romantic gestures grow more and more over-the-top, Addie recruits Sam to help. With Sam's assistance, can Addie break the spell by Christmas? Or will she spend the rest of her life dealing with a love-lorn Pete?

Two of us tried to watch this movie and both agreed not to finish it. It was almost Disney or Nick level acting and storyline. I've seen Robin Dunne before and love him, but he couldn't save this one. Cindy Sampson has messed up her face trying not to age, and looks awful. Her makeup was terrible too. The Pete character was a stalker which we didn't find funny or cute. Overall Christmas Crush was terrible and I hope no one is proud of themselves for making this movie.

I really wanted to like this movie, but I spent most of it rolling my eyes. The male lead, Sam, was great in his fairly small role. The female lead was okay in hers, but could've been better. And the other male lead, Pete, was absolutely insane! This is just another movie with a ridiculous Christmas wish plot that would never actually happen in real life. The female lead makes a wish on a falling star for her neighbor to fall in love with her. She meant Sam, but it hit new neighbor, Pete, instead. But Sam really does like her and actually asks her out. The only problem is that Pete keeps getting in the way, in the most crazy ways. I would've rather watched a movie where Sam and the female lead had normal encounters while falling in love. Pete could've still been a contender, but a sane one. Instead he says and does some idiotic things because he's under some wish magic. And his erratic behavior causes the female lead to act abnormally also. Maybe I'm just too old for these movies now. I did get a few laughs out of it though. It's just difficult to like a romance movie, when it could NEVER actually happen in real life. That makes it harder to connect to the characters and plot. I have definitely seen much better movies and have no desire to ever watch this one again. I'm actually not even sure it's worth watching once. If you do decide to give it a chance, maybe just let it play in the background while doing other stuff. Lol I'm giving one star for Sam, one star for the elderly next door neighbor, and one star for the beautiful Christmas decor.

Am not saying that to be horrible, or at least not intentionally so. Despite the premise not being that appetising and trusted friends saying that it was awful, part of me really wanted to give 'A Christmas Crush' the benefit of the doubt. Am someone who loves Christmas and who loves a lot of Christmas films, animations and specials (a lot of them being childhood favourites). So there was no preconceived bias against 'A Christmas Crush'. Really wanted to be a person that said that 'A Christmas Crush' wasn't that bad, but sadly cannot. Because it really is as bad as what has been said. Even Robin Dunne, who actually has been good in other things and usually is a very likeable presence, cannot save it. Nothing works here and it is not a case of one thing only completely ruining the film, though there are a few things that are particularly terribly done. One of the worst films seen in a while. The least bad thing about 'A Christmas Crush' is the scenery, but sadly it is not complemented that well due to the drab and disorganised photography. Much has been said about the awful way Cindy Sampson is made up in a way that ages her somewhat, and that is understandable. The music is not appealing on the ears and is used too constantly and with not enough variation of mood. Did not like at all how it was used, with it mostly used to pad the film out. Have absolutely no better news about the direction, which when there were signs of any read of very bad improvisation. There is just no energy and the director seemed to make no attempt in reigning in the actors when things got over the top, very indicative of a director that didn't know what they were doing or trying to do. The character interaction is both awkward and over the top, the actions of Pete really got on the nerves fast and quite soon after he was introduced, and the pace has no life to it. The first half especially is practically unwatchable. Furthermore, the acting is awful. Sampson's character is one of the most intolerable female leads for any film seen in recent memory, just nothing interesting or endearing about her and any growth is non-existent. Sampson overacts all of the numerous negative character traits and there is no energy or charm to her performance. Chris Violette is far too manic and too over the top and not in a way that's entertaining, it actually got extremely annoying. Dunne has a very flat and naive character and doesn't look comfortable, as well as seeming completely at sea at what to do with it. He and Sampson have no chemistry whatsoever, it was like they didn't get along or something. Motivations are not plausible or clear, many of the character behaviours are excessively stupid and make you shout out why with frustrated arm gestures and any character changes are too sudden and rushed. Secondary school students have written better scripts than this, it's been a while since hearing childishness, weirdness and cheesiness in dialogue taken to such wild extremes in the way it is here. My jaw literally dropped to the floor hearing how monstrously awful the dialogue was at the beginning. The story has no charm or heart, has the emotions of a cold fish, is very paper thin and predictable and is very contrived. Some of it veers on mean spirited as well. Concluding, awful. 1/10.

Weak story, weak acting, no chemistry. Pass. Apparently that was too short of a review therefore Im forced to waste more words and time on this... movie... of the Christmas variety.

I almost gave this 10 stars for the fact that someone was able to create 90 minutes of pure cringe. I don't think there is a single second in this movie where you don't feel uncomfortable. There were moments that I was chilled to the bone by how awkward I felt for allowing the scenes in the movie to enter my eyes and ears. Everyone needs to experience this movie. It is a must watch.

A very long, painful, drug out plot. I finally skipped ahead in scenes that made me want to lash out at the ridiculousness that played out before me. The only positive things about this movie is the way the actor playing the next door neighbor really was unbearably annoying. He makes you want to punch his Christmas lights out. They beat a dead reindeer with this one. Skip it; there are other good movies out there.

You may recognize Cindy Sampson - the lead female role in this film - as private investigator Angie Everett from the ION television series "Private Eyes". I certainly like her character in that well-acted series. But in this film, she is so "out-of-character" it's difficult to fathom that it's really even the same actress. The story: She's a thirty-something named Addie who is just smitten with her next door neighbor Sam. She has such a crush, she can't think straight. During a conversation with an older female friend one night at her apartment she wishes on a Christmas Star that HE would have a crush on her. But though her wish technically does come true, it's her other next door neighbor Pete - an old high school friend who just moved in - that is suddenly stricken with the spell. It's an interesting premise, and had it had a little depth and introspection, had better lead male roles, and better supporting characters, they may have just pulled off a decent Christmas love story. But we're just left with a lot of silliness, emoting, and overall general immaturity all around. Besides Sampson's character being giddy to the point of annoyance, her new neighbor Pete acts even worse; so over the top in his infatuation that it's almost seems that he's a stalker. The other lead male role of Sam, though more serious, is hardly better. He is not really convincing in his late attempts to finally romantically pursue her and compete with Pete for her affection. Indeed there really seems to be no chemistry between them at all. He just comes across as "half-hearted". Maybe if I hadn't seen Sampson's character in "Private Eyes", I might have let a few things slide in this film, but she's so silly and immature in this film that it really is hard to believe it's the same actress. I know that actors are supposed to to have a wide range of versatility in preparing for film roles, thus avoiding being a "character actor." But in this case, she just should have looked at the script and given it a pass.
