One of the reasons that I love comedy genre is that they teach us valuable lessons. For example, I learned a lot from the movie . This is the story of a scientist who is obsessed with his work which is inventing the time travel. As the title shows his future version travels back to change what he did in the past. The story is very well-written. The plays are one level below the story. The usage of background music and movements of the camera could be improved. The scenes and locations are diverse. In summary, this will be a good choice for comedy fans.

What can I say - I'm a sucker for a good time travel movie. Since I was a little kid I wondered what could've happened if I would've seen myself younger, from a perspective of an older man who has already seen stuff and learned to deal with it. I know I would've wanted myself to correct the mistakes from the past so that I couldn't have ended up alone with nobody by my side but my own bad decisions that led me here, wouldn't we all? James vs. His future self is surprisingly good in terms of storytelling and narrative. It shows all there is to see in life - that they don't call it present out of nothing: it is not only a gift that we should cherish every single day but we also should be in it to witness it firsthand. Daniel Stern is absolutely fantastic in this one; for a while I didn't see him in anything and the way he handled this role kind of reminded me of the old days of Home Alone glory of his and what a brilliant actor he truly is. In short, it is a good movie with fine acting, not extraordinary but a relevant plot, masterful soundtrack and some nice aftertaste.

I usually don't waste my time on anything rated less than 6.5.users are usually on point...but this time completely wrong. 5.7? Are you kidding me...this is definitely worth higher. Maybe if you were expecting a serious sci Fi thriller then you will be disappointed, but even if you were, and were then suprises by an emotionally intelligent film with good acting then you would definitely rate it higher. So glad I didn't listen to you negative reviwers.

A tasty cocktail of sci-fi, romance and comedy mixed for you by Jeremy LaLonde and seemingly effortlessly delivered to you by Jonas Chernick, Daniel Stern and Cleopatra (what a name) Coleman. And of course Tommie-Amber Pirie who, just like Jonas, starred in LaLonde's How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town.
The movie is a little gem about love, life and time travel (and Schrödinger's cat). It is well edited and Jonas, Daniel and Cleopatra treat us to an excellent performance balancing perfectly on that thin line between a love story and a comedy.
But what most impressed me is that this movie deals with the Grandfather Paradoxand comes up with some nice solutions for it. This paradox basically states that if you go back to a point in time before your grandfather met your grandmother and then kill him your mother will never be born an thus you will never exist. And if you never exist then who killed your grandfather? Most movies involving time travel completely ignore this paradox, like in the Terminator where Arnie gets send back to kill Connor, the future leader of the resistance. However, if Arnie was to succeed to kill Connor he would never be the future leader of the resistance so there would never have been a reason for Arnie to be send back to kill him in the first place. This movie not only deals with this paradox, it actually presents it to us (the entire universe could cease to exist) and comes up with the solution of James-from-the-future having to disappear if his actions lead to his life being better and him not having any reason to come back in the first place.
So 7/10 for the movie itself and an extra 1/10 for taking care of the Grandfather Paradox.

I really enjoyed this movie, I watched it streaming on Amazon Prime.
The theme is time travel and the physics they discuss is pretty close to authentic physics. They mention CERN and the Large Hadron Collider, and not surprisingly used a theoretical physicist, a professor, as a consultant.
Younger James (actor was about 45) is consumed with developing his theories and eventual method of time travel when this older guy (actor was 61) shows up claiming to be him at an older age. He has a unique way of proving it, comparing unique markings on their Johnsons. In other movies it might have come across as too juvenile but here it worked.
So James and this new guy, "uncle Jimmy", go back and forth and create some unusual and mostly humorous situations. And of course there is a girl involved, and James must get his priorities straight. That is why his older self is there, to convince him.
Fun, entertaining movie.

I'll preface this review by saying this film isn't awful. It's watchable, it has a couple of funny moments, one or two really heartwarming spots and a brilliant performance as always from Daniel Stern.
It isn't without its problems though and there are quite a few.
For a start it's just a little bit... boring.
For a film about a time-travelling scientist not a great deal happens and it's quite slow going for large parts.
The actions of the lead character are hard to follow too. His future self comes back, tells him he needs to very specifically NOT do something lest it lead to a miserable, lonely future in a dystopian world... and yet he still presses on with doing the thing he was told not to do until a big revelation moment in the final act.
Perhaps even more unbelievable is the fact that a guy so nerdy (and presumably still a Virgin) would, when mere moments away from finally doing the deed with the girl his future self has already revealed as the love of his life, stop to write up a new theory on his chalkboard.
The film is littered with these kinds of small details that snap you out of the moment to address how unbelievable they are.
Another example is when we discover the protagonists boss has apparently created a particle collider that is allegedly 3x more powerful than the Hadron Collider at CERN... and it fits in a secret box below a coffee table.
I have to give it credit where due, the message of the film is a good one; live for the moment, don't dwell on mistakes of the past or fantasise about what might be in the future, I just think the journey there meanders a little too much.
If you like Daniel Stern you'll get something out of this, even if it's just to hear him shout 'FOR GODS SAKE LOOK AT MY CAWK' after 10 or so minutes of the opening titles.

Great little movie here. The premise is that a young scientist hell bent on creating a method of time travel ignores his girlfriend and sister ruining his life. His future self comes back to stop him and change his direction. Some good comedy moments which after the dick joke I thought oh no but it didn't go that direction at all.
Well made, great acting. Definitely worth watching

A really enjoyable time travel movie where a young scientist is visited by his older future self in order to persuade him not to invent time travel. Daniel Stern, famous for Home Alone, who plays the older James, steals the show, his acting is first rate and the supporting cast do their job admirably. It might be a little cliched, but I found it a warm, entertaining movie which will make you laugh.

Other reviews will tell you exactly what the movie is about.
There are so many lessons in this movie that I fear people will miss due to our ravaging hunger and expectation to always get things that will blow our minds. No. Just no. Forget all that. Watch this movie and allow the characters to inspire you to be a better human being. This movie blew my socks off in that regard. It is a funny Rom-com and one of the most well written movies I have ever watched.
Enjoy
