Perfomances are good
but what is the point
story has been done to death
and a story which relies too much on coincidences....doesnt measure up well..to be called a good movie.
The angst ..frustration. Has been seen before...nothing fresh...in anyway.

Sameer lodaya
The movie is all about climax
The story starts with a bang but then it has been dragged for safeguarding each character like the policeman ,the culprit ,the junior reporter ,the business house..Vidya and Shefali have played matured characters where they have narrated their emotions ,anger and pain by expressions
The title JALSA has well synchronised by the story and you will come to know why such a title has been kept in the climax
The sole of the movie is in its CLIMAX which is very well made and keeps you on toes as what will happen
Watchable.

Jalsa is a drama thriller directed by suresh triveni. These are the positives and negatives.
Performances:vidya balan is at her peak nowadays. She is giving exceptional performances one after the other. But but Shefali shah outshines her. You can just look at that lady in awe. What a performer, what an actor. Every frame, every expression is so perfect. The supporting cast is highly talented and they have thus delivered the goods.
Background score and music:the sound design is excellent. The accident scene, the aftermath bathroom sequence you see the sound design and you just marvel at it. There are multiple sequences with just ambience sound but the bgm is unnervy and superb.
Writing:writing is its highlight for sure. Just look at that accident scene and how it is staged. Excellent and then the hospital scene where ruksana just looks with a teary eye and can do nothing else. This film is an example of brilliant writing.
Screenplay:the screenplay starts veey well. The first half is epic but the start of second half seems dragged. But again in the last 30 minutes it picks up its pace. So there are some minor faults but nothing major negative.
Climax:the climax is just outstanding. You can feel maya's tension and anguish. She is just so tensed. The last 30 minutes are a gem.
Dialogues:the dialogues are wonderful. In one sequence, maya is sitting with ruksana in an ambulance and ruksana just asks "baba ne khana khaya"? Symbolising her motherhood and care for children. This is just one dialogue but there are plenty .
Cinematography:again, the cinematography is excellent. Every frame, every angle seems so thought out and pitch perfect. The drive sequence after the accident or the bathroom sequence where the corners blur out. Excellent camera work.
The commentary:this film asks a question of morality. Does revenge over children heal everything? And a serious case of hit and run scenarioes. This film does not spoon feed but just tells you to find the answer.
Also if you are thinking how does the name jalsa go with this film you will get the answer by the end of it. It is just so so so good.
Jalsa is a must watch. Its slow paced , its a thoughtprovoking drama thriller. Just be there with the film. I rate it 9.5 out of 10.

In case you were waiting for hard hitting movie acted by Female actors than Jalsa is answer to all your queries. I would strongly suggest this movie. You will become part of the conflict once you start watching it. Vidya Balan & Shefali Shah are at their best.

This movie should be of max 30 mins or 45 mins but they dragged it for close to 2.5 hrs because we literally can watch the whole tea preparation, unnecessary drama , reporter doing an investigation like an detective was such a joke, and I have never seen such a slow movie combined with terrible screenplay, some scenes make no sense like what was Gulati interview all about ? Only director knows
Climax I don't know what he want to conclude.
Finally I finished off this movie in 4 instalments so guys please don't watch this and do something productive or you can atleast sleep for sometime.
Yes finally people who are rating 10 must be the cast and crew.

The film gives too much importance to the character with cerebral palsy to make people feel aww'. But it's the story that is always the driver in the film. Here, what begins as a cliche 'hit & run' story has not been dug upon enough to make a good story out of it. The film barely goes anywhere with the climax only repeating with the cliche bollywood's 'minority are a blessing' phenomena. This shamelessness and cowardice of bollywood is what brings this film down & I sensed that from the beginning. Even as a boring film, as it doesn't go anywhere it only wastes 2 hours of one's time.
A good idea drowned by pathetic bollywood minority appeasement & thus bad writing.

A ridiculous film, based on a highly improbable coincidence. This destroyed the film even before it started. Apart from that it was a hellishly slow film, where time stood still. Skip it if u value your time.
