At first I was moderately intrigued by the twin developing stories in this film and I find Clive Owen watchable in most things so this was quite an enjoyable film in the early stages with good pacing, reasonably eerie staging of scenes and good acting from both of the young actors. When the plot attempted to become slightly more complex and as the film reached the climax and conclusion it was difficult not to start seeing plot holes. Ultimately it felt like there was a missed opportunity to escalate the terror further and the reveal about what was occurring made goings on suddenly very personal to the characters whereas at the start the terror appeared to be a universal one. I think fans of horror will enjoy this but I think I just personally expected more from a non-US production as they often have a more cerebral approach to horror (not that all US horrors are mindless slashers before anyone feels I am being dismissive).

I found this movie enjoyable. I like getting really scared in a movie to the point that I have to sleep with a bat that night, but it didn't happen with this one. This movie was an okay movie, but I really loved the plot twist at the end. Although, the acting was impressive. Clive Owen, the father of Mia, did a fantastic job in the role of the father to a helpless little girl. At times, the most distracting part were the not- so-great CGI effects on 'Hollow Face's character. The one thing I loved is that it makes you relieve the childhood days of the monster-under-the- bed stories, and the always scary monster-in-the-closet. I was a very skittish child, and I found that this reminded me of those night when I would sleep with my parents because of nightmares. If you like borderline drama-thrillers... this is a good movie to ease you into horror; however, it was not scary, and don't let your younger kids watch it alone.

I really wanted to like this film! I love Clive Owen and was going to get over the fact that Naomi Watts was in so much of it. It never drew me in unfortunately. There's a twist that the watcher can easily figure out before the big reveal. It's still worth a watch. Special effects are fun. I would still recommend this movie!

One of the worst movies I have seen all year. Aside from it being everything BUT a good movie, I still have NO understanding of why it was even taken to theaters. There was NO resolve here. Only one mystery was solved and it was able to be guessed almost immediately so that still didn't even matter. The only one left to solve was never truly solved which in return only ticked you off that you wasted that time already when up to this point, you KNEW you had already wasted but was hoping you were wrong... VERY disappointed in this movie. I will give the actors/actresses kudos though. I can honestly say it wasn't any bit of their fault at all.

We like Clive Owen- a lot. Him being in such a dull and plodding movie was truly a disappointment! We watched this through to the end and it never improved. Moments that could have been made scary were not. I could never relate to nor empathize with any of the characters. Further, the characters never were really developed, nor was the story. This was a major flop and I'm glad it was a red box rental. I get really irritated when we spend movie theatre prices for movies such as these. Don't waste your $ or time. If you are a fan of this genre, the director of Clive Owen wait for it on free on demand. Or wait for encore- or FREE on demand. You'll turn it off I'll wager!

I watched this because I like Clive Owen and the trailer looked promising but I was left wanting more. It starts off good and it has a clever plot twist towards the end but it didn't feel like there was much of a payoff. Movies like this tend to lack any real sense of terror or danger and when it's also slow paced it can be hard to keep interest. I enjoyed watching it but I'll probably never watch it again

You must realize that this is not a horror film, it is a supernatural psychological drama. The acting is excellent and usually subtle, as a viewer of a psychological drama would hope for. The director maintains an appropriate level of tension throughout the film. The parallel stories that, at the ending, turn out to be sequential, are well-written. The analysis of the child psychologist of a folie a deux brings in another interesting element, and turns out to be close to the truth. If you are a horror buff who is looking for a screamathon with a shocking ending, then this film is not for you. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a more subtle touch to the acting and directing, I can certainly recommend this film to you.

After Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed the blood-soaked romp "28 Weeks Later" I looked forward to another entertaining gore-fest. I was very wrong. In the style of "splat pack" directors like James Wan and Alexandre Aja (somewhat) he has gone in a completely different direction. Intruders is at once very creepy, but completely devoid of gore. It is filmed in a style that feels reminiscent of a child's psyche. For some, this will be a slow and un-involving technique. For others, it will be the movie's winning factor. The concept is essentially what scares all of us when we're young, a monster lurking in the closet. Having nightmares of a character similar to the antagonistic presence in the film, I connected with the characters' fear. The best way to watch this movie is sit back, relax, and turn off your "adult" prejudices about things. Just lose yourself in the movie, and you'll have a spooky good time. It's a children's horror movie for adults.

I'm a huge fan of horror, British cinema and Clive Owen so I really thought I would be on to a winner here... I was wrong. There were some good parts to the movie. Clive Owen and Ella Purnell's (the young girl) performances were fantastic, the idea was new and fresh and for the easily scared there may be some sleepless nights ahead. But for all its efforts the film was underwhelming, a predictable plot being the tip of the iceberg. The CGI of 'Hollowface' was worse than poor, the cheap scares weren't scary to any seasoned horror fan and it is just boringly slow. After recently watching Sinister this film looked like the Teletubbies in comparison.
