When I have tried to seen this movie, I was asking myself if it is a joke. It seems to be a comedy but for me, it is a very bad comedy. I have tried hardly to see whole of the movie but it was impossible. Characters played too bad. The story have not any real senses. Insects do not seem at all to be "real". According to me, it is a wasting time to see the movie. There are a lot of films which are better of this one. If I have to describe this movie in one word, I would say: "disappointement".

The clumsy Cooper (Christopher Marquette) is called by his chief Maureen (Deborah Geffner) to be fired from his job. Out of the blue, they hear a shrill noise and they faint. When Cooper wakes up, the finds wrapped in a cocoon and sees a giant insect. He succeeds to escape and release Maureen. They find that the city has been taken over by giant insects and Maureen runs to the street to save her daughter Sara (Brooke Nevin). However a flying insect captures Maurren and Cooper and Sara runs to his office. They release a group from the cocoons and the strong Hugo (E. Quincy Sloan) that is deaf; the sexy and dumb weather girl Cindy (Kinsey Packard); and the janitor Albert (Wesley Thompson) decide to cross the street to visit Albert's son that is sick; Cindy's family; and finally Cooper's estranged father Ethan (Ray Wise). Cooper hits on Sara and when an insect catches her, he decides to go to their nest to rescue Sara and blow-up the structure. Will he succeed? "Infestation" is a surprisingly funny and entertaining action film. The characters are stereotypes and the hero Cooper is an asshole; Sara is smart; Cindy is a dumb blonde; Hugo is a heartwarming strong man; Ethan is the stereotype of a military. The special effects are much better than anyone could expect. There is no conclusion; probably for a sequel that has not been made. My vote is six. The ending suggests that the producers may have run out of budget during the filming. "OK, listen up, everyone. We have run of out of money, and there will be a slight change of plan. Throw away today's script, and let's just have someone say something stupid after which we cut to the end-credits. OK?" The movie starts off well, fast-paced and relatively fun, then slows down inexplicably (money for the bug effects ran out?). It almost grinds to a halt at times, which is rather unusual for this kind of film. There are moments of ambivalence regarding as to whether this was supposed to be a comedy or whether "we should just do the horror without the cheap laughs". As a result, neither the comedy nor the drama worked particularly well. But then again, horror comedies are very rarely funny. Just look at "Shaun of the Dead"; to some (desperate) viewers that is practically a milestone of this more-or-less failed genre. And may I ask what the point was of the Asian woman? She shows up, does nothing, is left behind to tend to the cocooned people, and that's it. Brooke Nevin is quite cute. That's at least something.

Infestation is a great little science fiction horror movie. Unlike some movies that tease you and don't give you a glimpse of the monster until the end, this one dives right in so that giant killer insects are running and flying around in broad daylight nearly from moment one, and that makes this one heck of a weird flick. There is a perfect combination of humor and horror, so that this often funny movie doesn't become annoyingly, forcefully camp like some movies such as Dead Alive. It was great to see that guy who plays the devil in the TV show Reaper; he's a good actor. The special effects are great as well. It's as if a bunch of Bulgarians took that scene from John Carpenter's The Thing, you know, the one in which the head sprouts insect legs and crawls away, and based an entire movie on it. This isn't as gory as other bug spectaculars such as Starship Troopers, and even in the gory moments its like watching marshmallow fluff being sprayed all over the place, so it's tame enough for younger people to see without therm being completely disturbed. The main character looks like a pubescent John Cusack and even though it takes a bit of time to relate to him, his character grows on you and you end up liking him. This is straight up in your face bugapalooza. You should watch it on your big screen TV or on your DVD projector. Either way, it's a ton of mindless fun.

Unlike the fun of other recent movies such as 8 Legged Freaks, Infestation is just plain stupid. It is supposed to be a horror-comedy but this is neither horror or comedy and is just some haphazard attempt at movie making. For some unexplained reason, large CGI bugs, which appear to look like over-sized beetles and wasps, have taken over the earth and cocooned everyone in sight. Movie starts on a typical work day and within 5 minutes a large ear-piercing noise is heard which knocks everyone unconscious. The next we know, every human being is cocooned in webs. One of them manages to wake up and sets about freeing others that are trapped. They appear to have no recollection of what has really happened but they work out they've been cocooned for several days. Pretty soon after several encounters with over-sized beetles and wasps, which thankfully manage to pick off a few of the more annoying members of the reanimated group, we learn that the bugs are largely blind and respond to various forms of noise. That knowledge however doesn't seem to stop them from walking around outside talking as if they're on a Sunday stroll, but we're not supposed to notice that I guess. The group doesn't seem to have any goal or direction except to try and lay low and get somewhere they can defend, while also wanting to get back to their various homes, loved ones etc. all of which they fail dismally at. To make matters worse, if you manage to get stung by one of these wasps, the venom doesn't kill you, it transforms you into some kind of weird spiderlike bug/human hybrid instead. There is no real story here and unfortunately this movie is only part one of what was going to be a trilogy. The movie ends on a cliffhanger after they penetrate bug hive so it doesn't really end at all. I have no idea why they would bother to make 3 movies when this mess is already too much but as of this release there has not been any other sequels planned, maybe it did poorer than expected but who knows. It's a bunch of no names reacting to CGI bugs, so budget doesn't seem to be a factor. I said this was brainless and it is. I couldn't even consider this funny as every character was just too annoying. Our main "hero" tries to rescue the bosses daughter at the start, (a boss that just fired him from his job) and while she's all woozy and disorientated, she's coherent enough to mace him in the eyes like any would-be pervert and he still manages to fall in love with her!? Yet when one of the other girls strips * and tries to get intimate he rejects her. I'm guessing that's the black humour they were talking about, but I just found it irritating. Also in what I consider to be a massive plot hole, if the bugs respond to noise, how did they manage to locate and cocoon every single human everywhere if everyone was unconscious and not making noise? Every person in their cars, offices, homes, shops etc. are cocooned. So are we to believe there was no one who managed to be in a secluded area at the time such as a basement or windowless storeroom that managed to escape being cocooned? It's just a dumb movie that makes no sense and everyone in it is painful to watch and what's really scary is that at some point 2 more of these could be made. God help us all.

This movie looks like it has been made by a bunch of high school kids with too much time in their hands. The acting is awful, the special effects are awkward and uninteresting, and the plot is just plain idiotic. The way the characters react to their unexpected situation (finding themselves in the middle of the invasion of earth by man-sized bugs) is completely unrealistic; there's no shock and no apparent fear. They just wake up and say, "Oh, this is bad. So what's next?" I wasn't expecting a miracle before I began watching, bu still I was sorely disappointed. Go read a book or something. Don't waste your time with this trash.

I Was really looking forward to this movie as I am fan of killer insect movies, They are fun, cheesy and funny a lazy guy who is just being sacked by his boss then all of sudden they hear this loud ringing noise so they cover their ears and then he wakes up covered in web and soon find out that the earth as been taken over by giant bugs that been taken or sting, when sting the worst it to happen. This has to be the best Scfi movie ever, made while you are watching this you will be thinking of 8 legged freaks as it kinda as the same feel to the movie also I did think it be more funny then it was but it still a lot funny moment. The death scenes are not gory or nasty but still very good, (wow really) The bugs are big which can fly and are blind, they can only here sound (which i really liked as it remind me of Tremours) also transforming from human to bug (when human change the human face start to look like zombie face and the human have bug legs)transforming is good but not great. For a TV movie I did not expect the really good acting in this movie and did not expect the nudity for about 8 second. if you like 8 Legged freaks you should give this movie watch. 8/10

Infestation is a watchable movie. Let me begin with that because I have a lot of criticism for this movie, but most is constructive. This is a movie that with a few different touches really could have been the next Shaun of the Dead. Walking the tight rope between horror and comedy is tough because it's easy to lose both crowds. Some people don't find bugs funny and others aren't scared when the mood lightens too drastically. The thing that this movie does best is separate the horror from the comedy moments without seeming choppy or displaced. You can be knee deep in a bug attack one second and be laughing the next. And it feels natural. Chris Marquette really brings this movie together. His quirky, lame attitude attributes to most of the comedy but believe-ability that the horror can be serious. The major flaw of the movie is that many of the supporting roles are played well, but no one else really pops. If someone else could've helped carry the comedy load it would've really helped. Not to mention that the attempt at being sincere at the end is acted poorly. However, having Ray Wise in this movie was a big success. I truly felt that if another funny character existed and the script was spruced up a bit, this movie could have become the cult classic it was meant to. The fact that it even accomplished what it did, given the difficult genre mix, is proof enough that they were close to greatness. I would recommend this movie to everyone that likes HorComs or for those who don't like horror movies and need some levity to get through them.

I am a big supporter of indie films as i believe that they (not all) are films made in sincerity with a true belief in entertainment. This one blew me away. I got it from a friend and watched it with no expectations, but man was i impressed. The FX were excellent, kudos to Dilated Pixels for a great attempt. There were a few holes ,but hey this was probably made on a $10 budget, wow. I cant sing this movies praises enough. Kyle Rankin is name we will be seeing more often in the future and i truly hope he is not blinded by the big budgets that Hollywood may have to offer. If he remembers his roots (ala Christopher Nolan) success will follow him. The acting was superb the leads lead the rest followed. Camera work and score were totally in sync and the dialog was actually delivered with effort, great effort. The gore factor was there but not overplayed, so even the gore mongers would be satisfied. Sudden scares and unexpected "boos" will get you too. If you have an opportunity get this one, not to criticize what it couldn't afford to have but rather admire for what id did for what it had.

I'm personally tired of and generally ignore the CG monster horror flicks that premiere on the SyFy Channel. I read that this was one of them. Well this one was done great! The jerk hero was actually likable in his purposely annoying way, very funny, and the story happens quickly, so you are in the bug infestation, what the heck is going on, just after the main guys humorful intro. The other survivors are decent, the story paces along well, no argument lasts too long and no character however annoying, steals the show. There's that used dad-son expectation loss thing but it works well and lots of good natured character humor. The CG was done rather well, even though I still felt it was composited, it was at least fast paced.
