Judging from the trailer, I had good feeling of what to expect from the film. I had not seen Capote, but I knew what it was generally about and I was pretty excited. I got tickets to see the advanced screening in Philadelphia last night. The filming was exceptional. Gwyneth Paltrow's singing will have you singing the tune well after the movie is over. Amazing voice. With Sandra Bullock I wasn't too thrilled with the way she played her character, but she still did well. I'll also admit I didn't like Toby's character at all in the beginning. I did begin to like his character more as the film progressed. There were a few funny parts to the movie especially with the character Truman and his interaction with people. If you are uncomfortable with gay jokes, I don't recommend seeing this movie since they do spit out references every once in a while. Other than that, go see it!

A crying shame this movie is so overlooked. A stellar cast, with rare and unexpected performances, draw you into the three dimensional delight of the world this movie creates. Sandra Bullock plays an honest and earthy Harper Lee - the role of a lifetime. Toby Jones uses finesse and subtlety to create a truly outlandish, but real Truman Capote. Details of set design and costume flesh out a world that breathes you in. Colors and composition make every frame memorable. The script is lyrical and witty. The breadth of emotion and theme in the film is all the more staggering for the depth it also achieves. Go for the laughs and stay for the tears and come away with a sense of what is human and what is kind. Do not miss this movie.

This was the better movie despite the lower IMDB rating and fewer awards. Not wildly better, just a little better.
The problem I had with the movie is they didn't delve into Capote's formative years as much as they should. The movie is 150 minutes long and adding another 10 or 15 minutes to give us additional insight into the years leading up to In Cold Blood would not only be useful, but illuminating. Good stories do a lot of illuminating.

Wonderful piece of film making. You can't take your eyes off the screen or dare miss a word of dialogue. Ultimately this is a very human story told well.

INFAMOUS **** Toby Jones's outstanding recreation of the inquisitive, homosexual writer Truman Capote, whose novel on a Kansas farm family murder incident was both the success and stumble of his career, lends all the more credibility to this picture. We're taken to 1959 when Truman and lifelong companion Nellie Harper Lee travel to the town of the murder to get their story. Sandra Bullock gives one of her finest performances as Nellie. Director-writer Douglas McGrath (Woody Allen's "Bullets Over Broadway") makes his script at times more clean-cut than credible in the scenes between the novelist and criminal Perry Smith. Yet this film generally compares with the prior year's "Capote" (dealing with the same subject), both of which are equally interesting in their individual prospectives on how Capote came to write "In Cold Blood." Rated R. 2006

I finally caught up with Infamous and found it one of the most intriguing movies I have seen in years. Toby Jones gave a much more rounded and three-dimensional portrayal of Capote than Hoffman's in Capote. All the performances were excellent and I was totally absorbed from start to finish. Sandra Bullock, as Harper Lee, gives one of the more nuanced performances I have seen from her. In fact, all the characters were portrayed with subtlety, without any grandstanding. Jeff Daniels, as the main lawman in the case of the murders that Capote goes to Kansas to investigate, is a good example of this, as is Daniel Craig. Anyone who has not seen this movie should do so asap.

Toby Jones did an excellent job acting as Truman. Jones is the perfect actor to play this part. Jones acts with ease as the feminine side of Truman comes to film. Although P.S.Hoffman did an outstanding job as Truman, Jones has captured the aura better. This movie has much depth and explores the human side of the killers. This is something that people do not often think about. The fact that these killers experienced great trauma/pain in their lives does not discount the act, but may help us understand the pain that some people go through. This may help us to understand the crime better. There are also many memorable lines. The producers have taken a great risk to do a movie so soon after Copote, but their gamble will be worth it. If you liked Copote, you are going to love Infamous. An Oscar for Jones is my vote. This movie was also very well written.

I was 15 years old when I read In Cold Blood. Capote's humanization of Perry made the brutality of justice in Perry's fated end equal to the brutality of the murders. The story stayed etched in my mind, and it was a lesson to me then on the cruelty of life. I am now 53 and seeing the entire truth relative to this story instead calls attention this time to the intense beauty of life.
Prior to In Cold Blood, Capote had written 7 books - 2 of which had been popular and were best sellers at the time. In Cold Blood though was literature. After seeing Infamous, Perry and Capote seem destined to meet. In Cold Blood brought Capote great success and fame, but it more importantly brought him to his own actualization and greatness. By not wanting to let Perry down, Capote was able to reach deep within his own soul, and through his true love for him, humanized them both.
Lightning has struck me twice.
