First off, I've liked Tom Sizemore, RIP, in some of his past movies. It seems like toward the end of his life, he was pumping out a lot bad scripted movies. I thought he looked terribly sick right away and his voice was badly broken. It is overly long and I too had to FF through a lot of the historical flashback. The movie to me had the sense of a play more than a movie. Special effects were below average. The ending itched of some sort of sequel, and was another one of those, you guess what it means endings. Seemed really low budget in general. Small cast, small sets. And misdirected. There are better things to watch.

I get the impression that a group of high schoolers got together one evening and put their thinking caps on and gave whatever popped in their brains for an English assignment homework that was the due the very next day. I am not sure what they were trying to accomplish with this movie, but in the end, I wish I could have that time back. It was boring. It was way too long. There was a lot of talking. There was nothing scary about this movie. Nothing. This is not a scary movie. At least in my opinion it isn't. The idea was great, but I feel it was not executed properly. No gracias. It was bad.

I just read each of the reviews of this offering and am disappointed but not surprised be the viewing public. These people should never watch or read "Death of a Salesman." They would mistake it for an unfinished cartoon. This show had its faults, but they could have been corrected. It was too long, but a skillful editor could reduce it to the attention span of most viewers. The connection to "the Spinoza" killings/case wasn't explicit enough early-on. It was hard to see Tom Sizemore in physical decline. But, his performance was a study in quality. This was meant to be a credit to the seamy, dark detective stories of the thirties. (Don't even get me started on his car - incredible!) And it came through for me with flying colors. The GREAT easily made up for the not-so-good. If there is justice in Hollywood, this script will be redone in the not distant future with a gifted edit that doesn't gut delicate weave of the timeless tale, and with another actor worthy of the lead role. Michael Masson or Tom Hardy could do it justice.

The idea was not new, but was decent. Some of the acting was good, most was painful. RIP Tom Sizemore, but darn, he did a terrible job. The story line was so convoluted because it didn't know whether it wanted to be a horror movie, a folk tale, or a drama. This desperately needed a better director to help it choose its genre, and it needed a better editor to cut it way down. I actually fast forwarded through many scenes just so I could get through it. It gets 4 stars because I was actually interested enough to see it through to the end, albeit by skipping a few scenes here and there. If you have nothing else to do one night, you could watch it, but be prepared to be patient and fast forward here and there!

Hi, I'm the filmmaker myself and have watched many a horror movie. Horror that is my genre. I've found this film to be fantastic, due to the fact that it was 2 hours long, which really I didn't mind at all. As I watched half one night and looked forward with glee to watch the last hour, the second night, well done, the acting was fantastic the film making and camera work was great. The grading was spectacular. Thank you. It was so entertaining. I hope this film cast, crew, writer-director some great opportunities in the future. From this wonderful Imaginative epic. Warm wishes miss Eileen Daly.

Don't watch this movie it's a really long two hours and 14 minutes. The farmer keeps yelling, "I don't know what to do!" Me neither. RIP Tom Sizemore but holy moly, the painful, nonsensical acting. What is he doing in this mess? It's as if he was reading right off the page and not very well. Is it a horror film? A mystery? Drama? Honestly I don't really care. The make-up is awful-almost laughable. Even the character names are nuts-Father Spinoza, Gabe Proctor. Have you ever watched a movie thinking, "it's got to get better." But it just never does. Please don't waste your time. I've done it for you. You're welcome.

This film was a jumble of ideas with a terrible script, honestly there wasn't one part of it that made sense, was well acted, or was well-scripted. Way too long. I was on the edge of turning it off but stuck it out until the end so I could say I gave it a fair chance. It didn't deserve it. Nobody wants a shocker to succeed more than I. I will need a lot to erase the memory of this road-accident of a film. Not even worth trying. The premise was good, a detective lured to an insane asylum in Pennsylvania ostensibly to meet a dying patient who wants to confess something to him. Unfortunately the script meandered from that decent premise to mix various horror genres without succeeding in any. I guess it's closest to a Sentinel or Exorcist-type horror, without the logic or intelligence of either of those movies.
