The movie has amazing cinematography, and a very interesting story. The protagonist is amazing because he always stays true with what he wants and believes and take it to the last consequences. Ulises' crew name is Terkos which is a Spanish word for stubborn. And that's what Ulises is, he's as stubborn as can be and even when external circumstances tries to force him to, he refuses to change which is a refreshing way to build a character in my opinion

It doesn't matter who'a your hero or what he wants if you tell the story well the audience will care about it, here there's no story, grey characters that doesn't evolve, just another empty story too show "THE REAL MEXICO" when Mexican directors are going to show something else than poverty and drugs????? This is not worth to be watched.

In terms of foreign language films and directors, Mexico has been leading the charge for the past decade. Director Fernando Frias' beautifully honest portrait of a Mexico City based teen subculture that is obsessed with cumbia music was the best original film Netflix released in 2020. As a fan of music based subcultures, 'I'm Not Longer Here' hits on all cylinders.

Instead of "finding himself" at seventeen, we see a boy who has known who he is, his passion, and his friends, from a young age. We follow him as he has to deal with the breakdown and loss of his passion, his social identity, his family, and his safety.
Monterrey Mexico was a university city with a lively café scene, arts, and music. In the 2010's the violence and corruption became so dangerous that public life has come to a standstill, and every individual is dealing with fear, aggression, and loss of social identity outside this hierarchy of violence.
The reviewers that talk about no climax or resolution are maybe uncomfortable with the painful loss of his identity this film so beautifully lets us experience with Ulises.
Ya no estoy aquí is is a poignant and personal metaphor for the tragic transformation of this city.

I like how it focuses on a very lowkey group of people. They differ in style and way of life. However, its a sad movie because nothing good came of it.

Not a bad movie for sure, it's interesting and it shows a very particular sight and culture in a realistic and raw way but it's better indicated for teenagers.

The movie "I'm no longer here" looks more like a movie straight out of a university experiment, the plot is about a Mexican teenager with a passion for dance and rhythm called "Kolombia" who ends up as an illegal immigrant in New York. My rating of 5/10 is based on other low-budget films with similar subject matter but much deeper in content and originality. Even with a very good soundtrack and the performances of the amateur actors, the movie lacks authenticity, better characters, and plot development.

Great film. I like how it was authentic, it has no happy ending, it's incentive is not to make you feel good in any way but to show a realistic perspective of this sub-culture. I felt the same as if I was reading a book, it went very deep into details and brought me to a world and story I would have never experienced before. Details of the clothes, dance, language, hair, etc. Even just looking at all those rocks in the street and the grimy-ness of Mexico (obv not all of Mexico is like this). I visit Mexico every once in a while to visit my family and little details like this are important. I feel like the Director really paid attention to such small details and it is well appreciated. I felt like I was looking at art and history. Ulises's loneliness made me depressed.

Visually it's a beautiful movie.
Sadly, there is no story, it's rather a lyrical fresco about lost time. And, like the music, it is slooow.
