I'm Dreaming of a White Doomsday is the feature film debut of writer/director Mike Lombardo. There is an instant feeling of desperation, anxiety and dread from the moment we encounter our family. The writing was extremely well paced and characters were well defined. All of the performances were superb and there was a magnificent chemistry between the actors. This is one depressing film. The fact that it takes place during the "happiest" time of the year is such a brilliant contradiction. The sets are claustrophobic. The outdoor sequences capture a beautiful landscape of wretchedness. This is a low budget film that looks ten times its expense. I'm Dreaming of a White Doomsday is an emotional ride and character study. Without giving spoilers, there is a specific scene that will forever burn in my mind. After the mother makes a touching decision, she leaves the room and leans against an adjacent wall. There is so much emotion to that scene it affects me as I write about it now. There are few films this depressing that I can watch over and over again. Another one that comes to mind is Leaving Las Vegas. Although, they do not share many qualities as a whole they both fill you with an overwhelming sense of sadness. But they also manage to be such beautiful films you cannot help but want to watch them multiple times. Days after my viewing of I'm Dreaming of a White Doomsday an unexpected reaction occurred. Even though I have always enjoyed spending time with family & loved ones, my appreciation of the holidays and ability to spend time with those I love has forever changed. As witnessed on film, doomsday can surprisingly arrive at any time.

A demented little flick. The story of one family trying to survive in a bomb shelter after "The Big One". Brutal in both it's realism and absurdity. Great performances by the cast, particularly the young star, Reeve Blazi. Well worth checking out. Hopefully this is not the last we see from director Mike Lombardo.

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this film in Toronto. It is so dark and depressing that it would make the Grinch castrate himself. Writer/Director Mike Lombardo has created a masterpiece that will forever be on my horror holiday watch list. I've seen some negative reviews on here, but do yourself a favour and ignore them. Watch it for yourself and see the genius behind it. Also, if you can get your hands on the Bluray/DVD, the bonus features are just as good as the film.

Some of the worst acting and directing I've ever seen. I saw this with a group of a few friends of mine and we were looking at each other wondering how this was ever released. As a terrible filmmaker though, it's great having people you know that are able to write positive reviews no matter how vomit inducing and boring your movie is. AVOID at all costs, this is a joke. There's literally a scene almost 5 minutes long of the mom slowlyyyyy taking small everyday items out of a back pack and examining them and putting them down. And the dad, SO CORNY. All for such an in creative ending. It was painful. So bad. No need to dream of a Doomsday, this crap will turn your day into one.

There is a long slow burn build towards something bad and it is palpable. Not once do you feel bored with the film but more anticipating what will happen next. It is a very engrossing and very serious film with some plot points being left to one's own interpretation but the sense of dread through out and the twisted conclusion make this one that will stick with you after you see it.

Mike Lombardo creates a wonderfully desolate and terrifying atmosphere that will have you gripping your loved ones tight. The apocolypse never felt so uninviting! A perfectly paced Christmas horror that does exactly what it was meant to do!

This movie is a real experience ... and a piece of cinema that will stay with you long after you watch it. If you want to get yourself into the holiday spirit, this probably isn't the movie for you. If you want to watch a truly ORIGINAL horror movie that does an incredibly job of building atmosphere while putting you straight into a hellish but maybe not too far-fetched world, this is the movie for you. I think that is what impressed me so much about "White Doomsday" ... the way in which this film creates horror by showing us a glimpse of what could come to humanity. The characters feel very real and empathetic. That's what makes the movie so horrific. You're with these people as they experience the holidays in an apocalyptic world and you feel the true desperation that the characters are living with. It's not a feel good movie but it sure is a memorable experience and one worth watching.
