This is another in a long run of shark films to appear on SyFy. I had watched Planet of the Sharks the previous day and I have to say that this film is better than that one; however, that is not exactly high praise as that film did not set the bar very high at all. This one the sharks look a bit better and the premise and story actually unfolded in a promising way. Then it took a turn for the completely insane and became more like Deep Blue Sea than a film about sharks that are in the arctic. The story has a group of scientist checking the effects of global warming and such in an arctic base. At least, I think it was the arctic because at times they made it seem like they were in the south pole instead. Anyways, super aggressive sharks have appeared and begun killing Eskimos. One guy goes out to check on a monitor, a guy and gal go out to investigate the disappearance of a hunter. Well, the unfortunate sole who investigates the monitor gets his leg bitten off and it is rather gruesome, but he seems to have a number of vital organs in his leg as I've never seen organs come out of a leg like that. The other two get attacked, the guy gets pulled into the water and somehow survives the shark and hypothermia...though the ability to stave off hypothermia seems a trait shared by all in this film. Soon the sharks, cut the ice with their fins and send the station the scientists drifting out to sea, which I thought was a pretty neat idea, then the throw propane at the sharks and the facility then sinks into the water and somehow a facility not made to go underwater hits the bottom only springs a few leaks that are quickly welded shut and remains operable. What the heck!?! At one point one of the guys says they only have so much oxygen because the facility wasn't meant to be underwater which should mean the thing is not airtight either! If it was, then there would be no air on land either! At this point they must figure a way to raise the thing losing nearly all members except the two you just know are going to survive. When this was first starting, I thought it was going to be cheesy, but it was sort of an interesting premise. Then the facility sunk and it became just so utterly insane and like other shark movies I've seen the whole ice shark premise out the window. I would have preferred the facility to stay afloat and slowly being chipped away by the highly aggressive sharks instead of a low budget Deep Blue Sea. The movie was better than a few other shark films on the channel, but once again, the bar is not very high at all.

ICE SHARKS is a typical collaboration from The Asylum and the SyFy Channel. In it, inhabitants of an Arctic research station are menaced by a new breed of killer shark which is tough enough to break the ice and challenge those living above it. What follows is an adventure that borrows bits and pieces from various predecessors, particularly DEEP BLUE SEA which it resembles at times. The budget is low and the acting poor, but the action is plentiful and a lot of the cast get chomped throughout. Some of the suspense bits aren't bad, although the CGI effects leave something to be desired.

The storyline had 0 potential as I predicted from start to finish and who survives It wouldn't have been that bad if the storyline actually made more sense as most problems had simple obvious solutions. Yet the script was written so that all the characters literally shared only ONE brain cell between them. Only gave more stars for the blonde guy and the black woman as their acting was spot on and not cringe at all. The storyline and graphics get 0 stars Recommend a watch I suppose

Ice Sharks suffers from a very white colour palette. DOn't laugh. Please. I seriously have problems remembering what went on in this movie due to the blandness of the locations, mostly due to how they were shot. Antarctic vistas are way too scarce and even the base is pretty forgettable once it goes CG. Speaking of which, the visual effects range from Asylum standard to below Asylum standard. The sharks are ok, but the aforementioned underwater Arctic base model is almost completely without texture and looks very cheap. This production company has done better, believe me. The gore is practical effects some of the time, which was a nice addition. The story and characters are entertaining. Ice Sharks is definitely above TV movie as the story moves forward at a brisk pace and there even is some minute suspense achieved in certain scenes. Unfortunately though, the most entertaining thing about Ice Sharks is it's premise. Seeing sharks jump onto the ice is probably the most memorable image you can hope to take from this picture and the rest is just Asylum on brand; cheap, dull and aimless in tone. This can be only recommended to Shark Week and Asylum fans. There is nothing here for anyone else.

CGI Greenland sharks have evolved intelligence and the ability to cut through thick ice using their fins with great ease! Well, this is an Asylum movie! Won't bother with the plot. Acting is poor to reasonable. CGI is dirt cheap looking. Sharks growl. No mention of the bends yet a group of people sink 90ft below the surface of the sea in their ice station, which is eventually brought back to the surface rather quickly. Perhaps the only positive thing I can say is that during some of the shark attacks early on there is a good sense of tension. Just another tripe shark movie.

An Arctic station measuring climate change has issues with the ice thinning and hunters going missing in the area, Due to the warming, an isolated evolved species of Greenland Sharks are picking off hunters near the edge. Now you might wonder how an ice station on solid ice could possibly be in any trouble. This is where the fiction part of science fiction comes in. This is a US TV-14 SyFy Asylum feature that was a warm up for "Sharknado 4", which has spoiled us with "A" lister cameos. The missing leg scene was good and gory, unfortunately it belonged to the only guy (Travis Lincoln Cox) who was believable as a science geek. There was a helicopter in the film, but at no time does a shark leap out of the water, as seen on the DVD cover, and take down the chopper...now that would be silly and is mostly likely saved for any sequel. Nothing close to sex or nudity. One use of SOB.

Tells the stories of researchers in the Arctic, who were attacked by new species of sharks that were very dangerous, the shark attacked the people in the research post ... The film was not too bad, but boring in the middle of the film ... One of the advantages of this film is only the shark and actor Edward DeReuiter and Kaiwi Lyman who is very charming.

Do they have to be good in order to be fun? SyFy offers ICE SHARKS to prove in spite of deficiencies entertainment does not have to suffer. I think some things can be bad enough to be good. Some movies that you would think could not be enjoyable somehow surprise you. An odd mix of scientists is sent to the Arctic Ocean. Land mass is in fear of glacial melting and studies are being conducted to check the effects of climate change on marine life under the ice. A research station is astonished to find aggressive giant sharks crashing through the frozen floor and devouring all who get in the way. The station sinks into the frigid water and it is a battle of wit and strength to stay alive. The cast includes: Edward DeRuiter, Jenna Parker, Mia Danielle, Emile Edwin Smith, Clarissa Thibeaux, Jim Helton and Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau.

An above ground station that can handle being submerged, kelp beds in artic waters, sunlight when they are supposed to be really deep, a station that shows air bubbles leaving it in every shot but 4 people who supposedly have a day's worth of air with no water penetration and I could go on for as long as this horrible movie lasted. Was the goal to try and see just how much they could insult the intelligence of the audience? Watch literally ANYTHING other than this movie.
