It is a forgettable movie but if you're looking for some quick entertainment it's not too bad. By the end I wanted the killer to win but, that's just me. The one reason is it keep you interested the entire movie. Yeah, you'll watch them being stupid and doing stupid stuff but all things considered, watch it. It's ok.

I'm willing to give this TV movie one solid star as there is no trailer to be found, not even on YouTube. For this, it saves me precious time to watch the trailer, not to mention the TV movie. I really enjoyed the nuanced characters - especially the bad folks who have sympathetic elements rather than just being 1 dimensional characters. The ending is quite moving too. The lead actress, Sarah Allen, is strong and believable and the younger actresses are also believable. The story has decent twists and there are real moral dilemmas which occur. Sure, the sets and special effects are limited, but it is a lot more interesting than the last 50 Bruce Willis movies (except maybe Looper). I also enjoyed the suburban Ottawa locations! Sadly there are no ice roads in the movie, but it is very snowy.

How pathetic this was! The acting so mediocre maybe not even that it was so bad. A bland horrible setup of nothingness. Wow just wow! If this is what it takes to become an actor I wouöd be a star. Why then am I not you wonder? Because I vouldnt bear to embarrass myself this way. Even if I would be good as an actor this movie is not. The plot and the dialogue! The communication ohh my god what a lousy direction. The things they say it makes you cringe on their behalf. I shouldnt be the one feeling shameful watching others make a total disaster out of a useless movie. Cause a movie isnt just a camera, its honestly also the people on screen. Its not like you make a movie without actirs working on it. But noone was working here. This started with a mom driving a car whilst talking on the phone. Believe it or not the first scene is criminal. Then suddenly almost hits a girl that comes out of nowhere, smart move jumping in front of a car like that. They are followed by a guy and a trucker. The one guy boyfriend to the girl bow hitchiking with this woman. They pick up her daughter at university and proceed to another location they never reach. Cause you gussed it, the trucker who followed them are now wanting them dead. The hitchhiker turns out to be a bad person wanting to rob the mom driving her whereever. They get to a stop where police is and somehow the trucker is there in the woods with her boyfriend BOYD HAHAHa, tied up to a tree. He still breeds but dies as soon as he gets to see his girlfriend cause he waited for her and knew she would find him there deep in to the woods because of a sudden stop on the highway. This girl has a gun but cant fire cause its not loaded, now the mom she has some artilleries in her pockets suddenly. Magically. She loads the gun but doesnt dare to shoot and hears her daugher calling for her somewhere far away. She backs up instead of keeping the trucker in her sight leaves him and comes back accompanied by her daughter and the police screaming "where is he" "he was just here" yeah well he didnt want to stay for the party. From there it goes even more downhill and I cant write anymore cause I dont want to waste another minute on this cluster f of a movie. Even if its a TV movie its so bad you wont believe it. Anyone saying its watchable really need to see someone who can help woth vision cause this is not watchable, I repeat, It is not watchable. I didnt see the end but believe it or not three women attacked by one man looking for vengeance won. They got out of this perfectly fine. Strong women, dont need a man, equal to men if not better and stronger. Message of the movie seems to be: hitchhike but make sure you take a picture of the driver and only a woman is secure, learn how to use a gun, and be a badass cause women are badass but noone can believe it really, dont call the police and you can do whatever you want. Even if you as a hitchiker are a criminal as long as you are a woman you are good. A male trucker not so much. Trust me on this! Its pure fiction and a really bad one. Btw I am myself a woman and this movie makes me shameful of that fact.

Let's see: 1) Momma has gun on bad guy, tells girl to go get cops. When she hears cops coming, she tells bad guy to stay there and she runs to get the cops. 2) Bad girl runs off to chase down what's left of her boyfriend, does not check to see if gun is loaded. 3) when they know they are in trouble and are staying in Earls room, bad girl leaves and lets the door open and then good girls leaves and lets the door open. 4) early in chase, once semi passed, they could have turned round and left him totally- he can't turn that rig around on that teeny road. 5) when bad girls hits man with tire iron, instead of hitting him again right away, she waits until he is back up and aware and she takes the time to make a declaration "This is for Boyd!' and then it's too late. 6) Maybe biggest error was when momma and good girl climbed in semi to get away, they did not bother locking the doors. By the way, good girl was totally worthless throughout the film and bad trucker was made just a little too corny crazy.

"Is there someplace we can drop you off?" Uh how about never picking this person up in the first place. Free riders, ugh. With the state of Virginia looking like the Arctic and all the personas freezing their butts off, 2022's Ice Road Killer represents a different kind of Lifetime movie. I mean we're not in sunny LA and well, it's freaking bitter outside. "Killer" is kind of like the Lifetime Television version of Joyride from twenty years back. No CB radios this time, just cell phones with evil texts and fiendish sneers. So yeah, Ice Road Killer is about a mother and daughter who pick up a hitchhiker only to find out that said hitchhiker is being hunted down by a psycho in a Mack truck. "Killer" with its almost downtrodden slant and non-emended, peril encounters stars Sarah Allen, Erica Anderson, and Micheal Swatton. These actors are game but their performances are almost spastic and overwrought. I mean nearly laughable. Ice Road Killer sort of deviates from the Lifetime path and in the Lifetime language, the film is wholly original with some intricate plotting. However, despite an ominous musical score (that tries real hard), "Killer" suffers from a vapid script with its characters constantly trying to explain things to one another. This is all done while the so-called killer is rarely seen and probably twiddling his thumbs (probably). With Ice Road Killer, director Max McGuire (a TV movie veteran) fails to mount much tension when it literally could've been there for the taking. And hey, that's even when he dupes that famous scene from The Shining (Jack Torrance yielding an ax to a door). McGuire wants us the audience to take "Killer" seriously and his flick is indeed, overly serious. But the viewer looking for that draining and exhausting cinematic experience is still left out in the "cold". Natch.

For some reason we are suppose care about a hitchhiker woman who steals peoples stuff. Oh and the dumb mom who supports the woman thief who was gonna steal from her. But she's just like nah its cool love all good. Ill help you defend yourself from a guy who's life you ruined by mugging him smashing his head causing him terrible injuries? DUMB DUMB DUMB movie dumb characters.

Not unwatchable, but I kept waiting for the climax to hurry up. To the movie's credit, the villain was revealed fairly early, so we didn't have to sit through too much of figuring that out. The snow, cold, and general gloominess in which the movie was filmed added to the vibe of the movie.
